  1. All we can do is play the last two games, we win them both and we got a good shot in making it through which was always the plan at the beginning of the campaign (to drop less points than Bosnia). Regarding the Estonia tie, it happens. Small teams put up big results some times, it happens. France got tied by Luxemburg the other day. Say what you want, but their third string team should have beat them by a few goals. Against Estonia, we dominated that game except we couldn't score. It happens. Against Belgium, we were arguably the better team throughout the match. We should have at least had a tie. For many who predicted a blow out, this was an excellent game. We played well, pressed them and held them in check. I truly believe if we had Mitro, we win both games. He is on another level from our other CFs/Strikers. Donis proved in these last two matches that he deserves to play and should be a mainstay on the wing for the foreseeable future (at 21 yrs old). Our CBs are great, gk is good, even Tzavellas has shown to play well in his role. We need more creativity in the midfield but hopefully someone can step up and fill that role. Another winger and a true dekari and Greece can be a top 10-15 team. I may sound overly optimistic, but we have improved immensely over the last campaign. We may even be better than the 2014 team that made the quarters at the last WC.
  2. He has had a lot of selection issues due to injury and lack of fitness. As much as I don't care for Tziolis, he probably felt he needed experience in the middle, continuity. As for getting as many youth players in, that doesn't work either. Remember Ranieri, he tried a million different players and we got the worst results possible. We need consistency with a little rotation.
  3. You can also say that we should have lost against Bosnia the first time. I believe Mitroglou was ruled out and the reason Kyriakos was taken out was because he picked up an injury, doubtful for Sunday.
  4. The showing today was not pathetic, we had a bad game...We had opportunities to score and didn't. You make it sound like they played us off the pitch. I agree we should have won but their goalie played great and made the saves that he needed to make. We did not have any teeth today but you can't attribute that all to Skibbe. Outside of Tziolis, you can't fault him for Vellios/Retsos playing. We do not have an in form striker. We do not look anything near 2016.
  5. We are not an attacking team, they had 10 men behind the ball. We missed Mitroglou and to a certain extent Torosidis...Tziolis didn't do anything today and neither did any of our strikers. Donis/Fortounis looked good, so did Stafylidis (for the time he was on)....No one else seemed dangerous. Hard to rate our CBs, they did their job and Estonia never seemed threatening...
  6. They loaned him out to play this young Italian gk, who along with the Milan gk - is considered one of Italy's top prospects...
  7. Greek international GK Orestis Karnezis joins EPLclub Watford FC on a season long loan...same club as Holebas
  8. Still have a long way to go but at least it's going up!!!
  9. Watching the Gabala game, I was impressed on the hustle the team showed,, they wanted it...their finishing is another story but they were trying....
  10. it's necessary, rather get the call right...
  11. In both of those players, they are half Greek through their moms. I see nothing wrong with them representing Greece as long as they identify as Greek.
  12. Bonucci is gone, his replacement is Benatia (who is the guy who Manolas replaced at Roma)...They also have an Italian cb who is young and the next big thing....the truth though is that barzaghli and chiellini are not young, both over 30, Barzaghli is 36), but they still will feature in most games..
  13. As a PAO fan, why are you wishing that PAO get relegated?
  14. If it wasn't for Alafouzos, wouldn't PAO be in Gamma? I am not saying he is doing a great job but there is no one else stepping up to the plate.
  15. The reason the German league is revered is because they have been doing really well in both CL and Europa. Their international teams have been winning tournaments, they have top class infrastructure (from stadiums to gyms) and they sell out every game. The rise in coefficient points is evidence of this, both in FIFA and UEFA.
  16. He performed well for them when he came there, I believe they only lost one game when he played. If he plays well, he may not be there for too long.
  17. What would taking the license away and relegating the club accomplish besides destroying the team? There is no rich white knight coming, so if they get relegated, things will get worse, not better...
  18. Listened to the game and the Greek commentators were constantly praising Donis, how his presence have the team an outlet which was missing when Bakasetas was in. Hopefully he will get more chances to play.
  20. Injury - day to day, Sokratis had been suspended for yellow cards
  21. Background: Both parents born in Greece. I was born and raised in NY. Did your parent(s) teach you Greek/Do you speak Greek? Went to Greek school till 8th grade. Yes. Education: Masters in Accounting/CPA Friend groups: Mixed but do hang out with a lot of Greek Greek influence in daily life: Follow Greek Sports, get my daily frappe from a greek café, drop off my son at greek school every morning Other half (wife/girlfriend - did you stay Greek or go abroad?): Italian (very similar to us) Favourite part of Greece: All of it is great, love Santorini, Kalamata is where the family is. Really cool place... The last time you went to Greece: Try to go every other year, summer of 2015.
  22. Tzavellas, Tachtsidis, Samaris, K Paps and Karellis are all out..... I was impressed how we were playing defensively, the boys were intercepting passes, pressing the whole game, which is not easy considering they were chasing the ball ....At the end, they played a great game considering the circumstances, Greece looks like a team again, soooo much better than the euro qualifiers.....what Greece lacks is an outlet for the counter, a burner who can really get past the defense...Imagine an Aubameyang on this team (granted there is only a handful of them in this world..) Mitro looked good, he had one chance and he made it, the way he timed his run was great, he got past his man and took a great shot to get past the gk...
  23. In US, if you have FIOS, channel 1524 (I believe Univision deportes? - in spanish) and FSC2 will replay at 10pm
  24. I agree that we need his passion but there is a fine line between passion and stupidity. Kara had passion but also a level head, he was aware of how his actions would impact the team. Kpaps (who for the record I think is good and has the potential to be great) is too emotional right now. There was no reason why he should have gotten that red card, if anyone should have retaliated, it should have been Sokratis. Sokratis knew that getting into an altercation would not help and did not retaliate.
