I was reading some Czech sites this morning and there was an interview with Egon Vuch, one of the Liberec forwards, who had a good game against Qarabag (3:0). Vuch said that his team actually plays better in away games, and he said he is certain he will have as good a game against PAOK and he expects to score. Besides Baros, their best defensman Martin Latka (used to play for Panionios in the past) is also not coming to Thessaloniki. I wonder who will start in goal for us. Ivic said last week that Brkic will start in Europe and Glykos in Superleague. Not sure if changes his mind following Sunday's game against Panathinaikos. PAOK will need to be patient on Thursday. Liberec is the one that needs a win badly. We might be ok with a tie. Let Liberec open up and kill them on counters. That's when we are the most successful.

Sounds like he had no other choice. You think if he said no to Tzavellas, the little spoiled brat would not force his daddy to fire Ivic?

From all accounts, it's a good thing that I did not see the game. As mentioned above we struggle against teams playing defensively. Also, all an opponent has to do is isolate Rodrigues, and our offensive threat is gone.

Pantelis Konstantinidis is back at PAOK and will hold a position which he had in the past and will report to Lubos Michel.

Good lineup, but without a goalie it will be tough to keep a clean sheet. I would play Crespo instead of Malezas. Biseswar looked bad yesterday, but Pelkas has been poor lately as well. I would play them both for 45 minutes each depending on the score. Also I think Klaus will start in every game from now on (unfortunately). The only way for us to advance is to have more points in the standings than Qarabag, which means we need to win or tie Lieberec, and Qarabag to tie or lose against Fiorentina respectively.

Pereyra and Glykos have been ruled out of the game due to injuries. Of course Tzavellas is out as well and will not play against his future team (as rumored by the press). Bad thing for PAOK is that Panathinaikos got new coach, and it's somebody who has given PAOK problems in the past with the teams that he was coaching.

I would add another positive thing and that is that some our our starters got rest ahead of the two difficult games against Panathinaikos (Sunday) and Liberec (Thursday). As for the fringe players, what other incentive do they need in order show their potential (if they have any).

There are 4 or 5 players part of the clique. For some of them the common denominator is Paul the agent. For others it's being a member of the NT. I also find the sudden Glykos injury quite questionable. Don't forget when Anastasiadis took over as a coach, there was an incident between Tzavellas and Pereyra. I think Ivic picked on Tzavellas in order to send a message to the rest of the clique. Basically he is giving them a second chance. However I still think the most likely scenario is Ivic getting the boot in the next couple months.

Not travelling to Trikala are Matos, Varela, Campos, Koulouris, Canas, Rodrigues, and Tzavellas of course. I really doubt that Ivic was instrumental in getting him the extension. He probably did not have any choice in the matter. I think it was Savvidis Jr. that pushed that through. There is no doubt in my mind about that. He was just taking care of his close drinking buddy. Tzavellas is not an angel. He has a history of problems, not only at PAOK, but elsewhere as well. He is a decent player, but also a big primadona. I really believe that there is a clique of national team players on the team that have their own agenda. I think there is a lot of behind the scenes issues that we don't know about.

In the other game of the group: Larisa - Panelefsiniakos 2:1 So basically we need at least a tie tomorrow and a win against the weakest team in the group to get first place.

It was the clique that tried to get rid of Pereyra from the team.

Wish we played Elefsina this round instead of Trikala. Would have been an easy win and qualification. Trikala won their first game, and probably will have sights on finishing in first place if they manage to beat us. This means they have incentive to play hard against us. I'd like to field a team full of subs, but Ivic will probably have to use some of his starters.
