I don't think there was a a chance Ranieri would have stayed had we not qualified... Ranieri is no the type of manager that would stay coaching greece beyond a failure....to then rebuild....he would not be your 4-6 years coach.. skibbe is more suited to this task... i would have been very worried if skibbe took over now... I think him being in the job since late last year and seeing us play various opposition has helped immensely.. What skibbe/ranieri/santos can not do is how well Belgium play v Ethniki in March 2017.....the sheer gulf in ability and talent is enormous.. One can argue a good coach can plan for this and prepare us accordingly..yes..in theory..it will be a long night...

There is no doubt the GFC has contributed to the lower budgets of clubs.. however the NT has more players playing in better leagues than ever before...not counting the number of Greek players playing in good second tier leagues like Austria/Swiss/Belgium..players that are not on the NT radar... this can only be good for NT regardless of the strength of GSL.. Interestingly OSFP, PAOK AEK have never been stronger financially... none of this impacts on the pathetic performance of NT between September 2014 and November 2015... none of this explains why countries like Slovakia with a much poorer league and poorer economy can produce attacking players like Mak, Weiss, Hamsik......we have no one good enough in the attacking third to wipe the boots of these guys..

Mavrias, Bouchalakis,Bakasetas from the younger crop. Kone, Fetfa, Ninis,Taxi,Karelis from the old tired and tested. We have Karnezis, Toro,Holebas, Sokratis, Manolas, Samaris, Fortounis, Mitro. as certain starters... Others may come out of the blue with good seasons...Vellios,Klaus,Diamantakos, Lykogiannis, Pelkas,Giannotas, Players like K.Pap, Mandalos, Maniatis...are going to be in the mix and handy...
