  1. Three midfielders to consider if they show form when back from injury and not necessarily picked automatically are Fortounis, Galanopoulos and Koubelis. I'm lead to believe that Manolas is not in the form required for the Ethniki, Sok and Siovas have still have issues with the EPO (more than likely with technical director Fyssas), and that Mavropanos along with Hatzidiakos are the form CB duo right now. Back ups to them would be Goutas and likely Kargas. Saliakas was unlucky not to have been chosen in this lot of friendlies as he is showing good form. Vlahodimos is a likely candidate as captain due to his excellent form at SL Benfica.

  2. Biseswar played only the first half for Suriname against Thailand. Match ended in a 1-0 win for the Thai.

  3. How is it that Baka.sek.as.gr pays like a ball-tearer for his club but chews like a cow for the Ethniki? He hasn't been given quality service to do something perhaps because it make no sense, unless blue and white aren't his colours or he isn't following through with packing his favourite socks for gameday or something. Then there is an even bigger problem

  4. Everything has pretty much been summed up but just wanted to say, Mantalos did play well so not sure why people wouldn't want him there if you don't want Bakasetas. For me Limnios was disappointing, got out marked quite easily, Pelkas was active and at least got himself in better positions but his finishing and final pass were always terrible, that needs to improve. Giakoumakis easily number 1 up top

  5. We can only add 2 players if they come from the Ukrainian or Russian leagues. Deadline is April 1, and am 99.9% certain that we will not be adding any players to the squad.

  6. Kurtic played the whole match against Croatia. FT 1-1.

  7. I am not sure Manolas will come back to the NT....not because he won't be called but because he might not want to without Sokratis and Siovas....imo neither should be considered anymore for call ups due to age and the better options available. Hatzidiakos and Mavropanos should be the starting CB pairing. Siopis or Zeca (if he is still an option after his injury) have to play in front of Rota if he starts, to help him defensively....Idk if he will be any better than Bakakis in the long run and we should be looking at other options. I would add Kargas and Saliakas form PAS into the mix instead of Siovas and Sokratis if you're looking for more defenders. Giakoumakis should be first choice striker so long as he keeps on performing with his club....he seems the real deal and a very savvy and versatile attacker with good timing and positional play. Pavlidis does a lot of the dirty work up front and doesn't really score very often for the NT but he is did score 17 goals so far this year for his club which is not too shabby...just hope he can bring that form to the NT on a consistent basis. Alexandropoulos is an up and comer but not quite there yet as you can see with some of his mistakes....he can actually become the box to box CM we have been lacking, just needs some time as he is 20yrs old and that position has a bit of a learning curve. Pelkas was quite active and left a good impression as did Limnios but their play lacks substance imo. As for Fortounis I wouldn't hold my breath....he always had the talent but no determination to go along with that and has been the biggest let down of all the players over the the last few years. Even if he fully recovers from his injury he never delivered in the big games so I doubt it will make a difference one way or the other. Galanopoulos, while I like the kid, he seems to be made of glass and is always injured so you can't really count on him. As for the game we had a good 1st half and in the 2nd half basically sat back and tried to counter which is always a bad idea imo....at least we got the win which for sure is the most important thing right now. The fact that Bakasetas didn't automatically start is another positive....I really don't mind him being on the team as long as the coach can see his limitations and can use him according to his strengths (slowing down the game, drawing fouls, passing the ball out to touch, killing pigeons in mid air with his shots, etc)

  8. Mitrita just tested positive for COVID. If Jaba wasn't in the list before, he's probably in now (assuming we can make the change).

  9. Are we? I thought I read that we can only make changes if we sign players from Russia or Ukraine. If the case is we can make the 2 changes regardless, then he may do Varela in for some insurance incase disaster strikes. Wouldn't be surprised to see Jaba come in maybe for Soares? As always Lucescu does not rush any signing into the team, we'll see more of Soares from next season. So unlikely he'll get any minutes in Europe especially when you consider we already have Kurtic, Tsingaras, Schwab, Augusto (who can go back to his natural position) and even El Kaddouri who can play deeper if needed.

  10. We are entitled to make two changes in the squad and the deadline is April 1st. Michailidis offcourse out. But will Lucescu put Sastre in or Varela? At this moment I don't see that a second replacement is necessary unless someone gets severe injured the upcoming days.

  11. Fun fact: this match is his debut for the U21!!!! He has 13 caps with the senior team before this debut.

  12. U21 NT defeated Liechtenstein 4:0 today. Three important games coming up which will determine if we win the group. Must win on Tuesday against Portugal.

  14. Mitrita starting for Romania in the Romania - Greece friendly. No other PAOK players starting in the game. Only ex-PAOK players Pelkas and Limnios. Lyratzis and Paschalakis on the bench.

  15. Correct. But any success this year is still good for next year, as we stand to benefit from an increased ranking (preferential seeding). There have been many times in the past that we have just missed out on being in the seeded group of a draw, after all.

  18. I think it's possible but it would take a lot of changes. Changes which nobody wants to make.

  19. Mainly it's because these aren't 'clubs' as we know them, they are franchises with little to no soul. What I find weird is our top league which is basically the same setup [manufactured franchises] but if anyone tried to move a club there would be hell to pay.

  20. The part that gets me is how teams up and move to another city. Like wtf ha ha. Try that in Europe and cities would be rioting. But the bizarre thing is it seems to work. Sure we're gonna move PAOK from Salonika to Athens and fans will come. And yet, they do. Talk about strange. I suppose that's what happens in a nation that refuses to go convert to the metric system.

  21. MLS is a business, just like every other professional sport in the US and Canada as opposed to Greek Superleague, which is a money laundering operation. The concept of filling a stadium to capacity in Greece is unattainable dream these days.
