I’ll be really surprised if JVS stays. At the end of the day it’s results that matter and 1-1 draws with Kosovo and Georgia is really not good enough. So if he goes, who should be the next Greece coach? Some names mentioned. Donis Dellas Ouzounidis Valverde Santos There are many good coaches out there. We have a lot of good young players just starting their international careers, others that are in their late 20s who are going well and others who may fall out favour. I still believe with right team selections and good player management there are better days ahead for Greece.

True but don’t forget the game before that where we were down a man almost the entire game against Japan he had the team playing solid defence to even give us a shot to make the IC game count.. I know my fried he did a great job with the NT. Had Greece won would have faced Holland close to a 50/50 game for a chance to play in the semi finals. I would have never believed after that game with Costa Rica we would have hit such lows. I was just thinking how amazing it was when we beat Romania and then the draw in Romania to qualify for the WCUP. Great memories!!

Agree with you, when we went down of a crap penalty call we should have looked to try and attack more but we kept giving the ball right back to Spain once we got it from them. To start the second half JVS subbed of Masouras our most dangerous player. JVS just looked like he was content with losing 1 nil instead of going all out to win the game.

Not only did he get us to the round of 16 in WC but also if we hit our PK’s we could have gone to the final 8 or even further

I just heard on Hellas footy podcast that with the draw to Kosovo we now drop into pot 4..... Can anyone confirm? if that's the case that is absolutely embarrassing. The guys on the podcast are afraid the EPO will keep JVS on.

Have to agree Santos won a Euro vs heavy favorites France in their country. With a good Portugal team but nothing like the star studded team they had when Greece beat them in 2004 or even their present day squad. Also his record with the Ethniki is incredible and as you said he got us far in the Euro 2012 and the last 16 of the World Cup. I would not mind Valverde he likes the possession based football with high press. He coached OLY and Barca of course so he is a step above JVS for sure. For me as I have said I would like Donis as a Greek who can speak to the players and he knows Greek football well. I think he would relish the chance of turning the Ethniki around and can bring along the younger players as he did when he was at PAO.

Just cause we need a win doesn’t mean a team should play all out. If we opened it up from the beginning Spain would have torn us apart. You can’t say “Eff it” and just attack cause then we will be open to get countered on every time we lost the ball. Contrary to belief, we don’t have any attacking stars that scare people, who can possess the ball under pressure. His strategy coming in was to keep it 0-0 until HT , maybe get a set piece goal or a counter goal. I totally agree with that gameplan. However, I do have to agree with you. At 0-1 I would have thrown the kitchen sink because what’s the difference between a 0-3 and a 0-1 . Nothing.

JVS and Project Qatar failed he said after the NL failure that he would ultimately be judged on wcup qualification. He failed miserably 5pts behind a Sweden team that was not that convincing. Greece had to make the playoffs in this group it was no where as difficult as the Italy/Switzerland group were Italy finished runner up. Its getting exhausting watching us fail yet again and seeing nothing football nations like Finland, Albania, and ffs even the Skopians making major tournaments and some of these countries now in the wcup playoffs too. Not only does JVS need to leave as he already should have after yet another draw vs Kosovo but so do the bums in the EPO who cant due there jobs and find a qualified coach to lead the NT and these same people who have left the NT way down on their agenda, they still haven't found the team a permanent stadium. They were suppose to have that done before the start of Euro 2020 qualification. The NT has to be the TOP priority! Greece have to be in World Cups and Euros. EPO needs to get down to work and make it happen enough of this s%$#!.

Unpopular opinion - for me Pavlidis has been a huge let down after a promising start to the Ethniki, the amount of turn overs he produces is incredible. IMO Fetftazidis (30 yo) would offer so much more than Pavlidis who only really has a finish on him, his passing is terrible, hold up play very poor and I think hurting us more than helping.

What happened to JVS playing the Dutch attacking style of football as you said he loads up the backline vs Kosovo? Makes no sense and he did not even use Alexandropoulos in this game to test him out instead we see Bouchalakis who can pick out a a good pass but he is way too slow in the middle of the park and when you see him lose the ball a few times yesterday and they caught us on the break I thought they would make us pay for it. Also he starts Mantalos and the guy just cant cut it for the NT he cant make the right decision were to go with the ball when we have a dangerous attack on. Its time for him to stop getting the call up to the NT. Why did Tzolis not get a start his pace and dribbling was way to much for Kosovo put him in from the start and we finish off Kosovo with 2 goals in the first half. JVS will not change his mad ways we cant continue on this path. EPO please bring in a serious coach who is smart enough too see that we cant afford to leave some of our best players out of the starting 11 and bringing in out of form players or guys who do not even start for their clubs like Mavrias. What a disgrace...

It’s time for JVS to go. He’s had his time. We’ve gone downhill since he took over. These group of players are good enough in my opinion to go to a tournament. A player like Pelkas proved he is better than Bakasetas. Mantalos has regressed so much I can’t believe it. Bouchalakis is too slow. He didn’t play Alexandropoulos who is by far our best CM and JVS doesn’t know it. Tzolis is by far our best attacking player and only gets 30 minutes. Give these 2 a few full 90 minute games and see what happens. But no he has to stick to Bakasetas, Bouchalakis etc. How can he not pick a proper more experienced RB like Kitsiou or Kotsiras. Even though they aren’t the greatest they are RBs who can do the job. Androutsos should be playing CM and be used as a player than be put in any position and a reliable player to cover most positions of need be. He’s good. How can you play 3 or 5 man defence against teams like this. Play 4 at the back from the start and start Limnios, Tzolis and Alexandropoulos. Even though we had a few players out there’s no excuse in not beating these type of teams like Kosovo. JVS has failed. JVS out for me…
