aekrossoponti
masmanidis is a young greek offensive midfielder from germany, 22 years old. he has made one bundesliga appearance with bayer leverkusen and now plays for karlsruhe sc in the second league. in 31 games he scored 5 times and was an influential figure in karlsruhe las season. he has won caps for german youth teams but hasn t played for the mens national team, so he is still eligible to play for greece. paok wanted to sign him this summer but the move didn t finalise because of the money karlsruhe wanted. he wears the number 10 jersey this season and could solve some of our national teams offensive problems in the future... i saw him play a couple of times and am fairly confidend he could earn a spot in our national team. i had hoped that otto would try him in the conf.cup but this didn t happen. his 1-0 goal in karlsruhes cup fixture against mainz II in the 57.minute paved the way for the 3-0 victory. until he scored the game was in a deadlock. interview: http://www.greekplayers.com/masmanidis.htm

NYC_Olympiakos
Elsewhere in Germany, DSC Arminia Bielefeld have signed Germany Under-21 midfielder Ioannis Masmanidis from second division Karlsruher SC for €500,000. The 22-year-old left winger, whose contract at Karlsruher was due to expire at the end of the season, chose to join Bielefeld despite offers from other Bundesliga clubs. Meanwhile, 23-year-old midfielder Michael Fink has announced that he will leave Bielefeld when his contract expires in the summer. read that in Uefa.com good luck to him and i am sure Otto will have a long hard look at him

thrylos
If he played for Germany in an official FIFA registered match then he CANNOT play for Greece. If it was just a friendly he is still eligible
Ziaka
He can't play for Greece. From what I understand he had to declare what NT he wanted to play for prior to his 21st birthday. Unfortunately he is 22 years old now and it is too late.

aekrossoponti
todays cup game: amanatidis was great and scored. masmanidis wasn t and got subbed. the commentator said that masmanidis is being watched by otto rehagel but didn t make reference to this game. he also said that there is still a possibility masmanidis can play for greece. things like this have happened in the past. so there is no problem according to this german journalist...
