A win here would be absolutely massive. Let's hope Oly is suitably exhausted from their Barcelona ass whupping from midweek.

Olympiakos is leaving 3 or 4 starters behind in Piraeus for the Barcelona game. Their 10m platform diver though is making the trip.

Let's see what our team will show.

We have lost from Olympiakos (and PAO, AEK) with every possible way. If we manage a win or at least a tie this will show for the first time that we are seriously going for the championship.

This is not really the game (or any of the derbies for that matter) that decide the championships. It's the results against the "smaller" teams that do. And this season we already dropped 6 points against such teams. As a result of this we need to get some of those points back. Beating Olympiakos and AEK away will surely make up for the lost points.

Will be interesting to see what lineup Lucescu will field in this game. Seeing some of the Olympiakos games this season, their defense is quite suspect. They are good in the air, but if the ball stays on the ground with quick passes we can unlock their defense. Because of this if I was Lucescu I would consider keeping Prijovic on the bench and going with some speed upfront (Mak, Vierinha, Pelkas). I would also start with Biseswar as dekari.

I think much of the lineup selects itself.

                           --Rey--

--Matos--Zambrano--Crespo--Leovac--

             --Mauricio--xx

--Vieirinha--         xx                       xx

                      --Prijovic--

Those last three spots could go one of a few ways. Personally, I'd play Mak at LW and Cimirot next to Mauricio - this is, after all, the exact kind of game he would excel in. For me, Biseswar is still by far our best AM and should start there. And if not him, then Pelkas. Lucescu, however, is unlikely to really change the lineup much...so I bet we'll see El Kaddouri in the middle with Pelkas at LW.

I think all of those players will make an appearance either way, barring unforeseen injuries.

Can't wait for this Sunday.

Not sure if Campos is 100%, but he sure could be helpful in this game, but that would mean playing in Vierinha's spot. It's obvious Vierinha is not quite ready. He has been a disappointment so far if you ask me, but I don't see him not starting. He knows what these games are all about. I would play Cimirot along with Mauricio. I too think Biseswar should get a start, but we know he won't. I think pash's xx's will be Cimirot, El Kaddouri and Pelkas.

Georgios Kominis is the ref for the game. This guy is anti-PAOK, with severe complex when he calls our games. There are several games where he screwed us. We will need to be careful not to accumulate cards early in the game.

I do agree that Campos would be good for this game, better than Vieirinha - but considering that he hasn't even been making the bench, it's clear that Vieirinha will get the start.

I'll take a draw for this game.  Curious to see how we play.  Last season we took the game to them in Athens.  We lost but we played well and didn't just sit 10 players behind the ball.

Do any sports bet sites take bets on Fortounis getting a penalty after the 80th minute ?

The fixtures coming up will show us where the team is at.   So far it's been easy games.  Olympiakos, AEK, Panionios away in the next 5 rounds.

Asteras and Atromitos at home in that run of games will also be no walkover. A good showing across these games will let us know if the team is championship material.

Add to that Xanthi away, which is always a tough game, and PAO at home who regardless of their financial issues will always give us a tough game.  All in all it's going to be very interesting between now and the winter break.

For sure.

I'm reading that Oly will have some absences, but I don't think any vital players for them. I also saw yesterday that their stadium was nearly sold out. Hopefully there will be some crowd trouble.

I am fairly sure we will score in this game. The question is if we can limit their offensive threat. We also need to keep our composure and not retaliate. I am sure that they will play physical game and with the help of the ref they will get away with it.

People who look like they'd retaliate: Zambrano, Pelkas, Mak, Matos. Hopefully Lucescu is giving them some lessons in:

agree the south american lads at the back are fiery, there will be the standard spot fires that break out, hopefully our boys can contain themselves and don't go too far

You know what's funny is I didn't even consider that we wouldn't score. I figured we'd get at least one; only question is if it'll be enough.

I know, lots of big talk from me considering how awful our away form is.

Here's the list of players heading to Athens:

Ρέι, Πασχαλάκης, Λέοβατς, Μάτος, Κρέσπο, Μαλεζάς, Σαμπράνο, Βαρέλα, Σάχοφ, Μαουρίσιο, Κάνιας, Τσίμιροτ, Πέλκας, Μπίσεσβαρ, Βιεϊρίνια, Κάμπος, Ελ Καντουρι, Μακ, Πρίγιοβιτς

No real surprises here, apart from maybe Limnios. Siambanis, Kace, Deligiannidis not included in the squad as well. Good to see Campos and Varela in the list.
