shut up Pash!

Most of the leagues he mentioned are better than the Greek league (albeit I'd argue against the Czech and Israeli leagues), but my point was the idea that the Greek league is "3rd tier". There are 50 leagues in Europe, so are we to say that the Greek league is at the same level as the Slovakian, Lithuanian leagues etc
-
Agreed.I can't understand their logic and I am not going to worry about it. Laifis, Goutas and Gianniotas should be in the current squad. Also, last season they loaned out (then sold) Dossevi who is now playing regularly in Belgium and also was voted one of the better players last round.

Ok, as I suspected you're just making stuff up. For the record, Netherlands below Greece at present in the rankings. What I agree is with what the last few years for Greek football show is that it's sliding in terms of results by the Greek clubs. I don't think Israel is close to Greece at present. PAOK on it's day can complete with most clubs in Europe and I include some English, German and Spanish clubs.

Unlikely. There's a genius on this forum who opened my eyes about PAOK playing Tier 3 League so what you're aspiring for won't happen.
-
Define 3rd tier. Who else is in this "3rd tier"? What do you define as 2nd tier? Lol
-
It was for Euro 1988 qualification and we all know that the Dutch would end up winning the tournament. Saravakos' goal was a classic. I saw a clip of the goal recently and I recall that the supporters were going crazy when Greece scored. They were booing and shouting. Dutch Eagle, what are your memories if the match?

How illogical was the loan of Laifis?! He was purchased with the intention of sending him on loan to Belgium where he has been really good and plays the exact position that Olympiacos need to strengthen and is looking for reinforcements.
-
Konoplyanka doesn't want to come to PAOK though. Unless he changes his mind, then forget about him.
-
Yes Roberto has been poor. He was sold at the right time. He made a few howlers for Oly too the last few seasons as well.
-
Shame it's so farcical. The athletes in Greece do it hard. They deserve to be funded like the Australians, British, French, Italian, Japanese athletes.
-
To pMelachrinosrase a supremely intelligent, modest and very classy man, let me echo his sentiments by saying let's make Greek football great again!
-
I agree. Also talk of him potentially being sold. That might be a good thing for him personally if he ends up at a good club. With APOEL drawing Olympiacos I wonder if Gianniotas plays or if there is some clause preventing playing against Oly.

I watched the replay today. Some of the things i observed: Fortounis played the worst match I have ever seen from him. He did absolutely nothing right. He was brutal. I'm not writing him off at all as he was probably not 100% fit but that's no excuse for not being able to do the basics. His teammates didn't support him but he needs to start taking the initiative or he will end up as another Ninis. Retsos was very good. He wasn't amazing but he's only 18 years old. He deserves a shot this season. Also Manthatis looked good with the little time he had. He has good close ball control and he too deserves his chance this season. Kapino deserves his shot as starting keeper. Botia and Da Costa are not a quality central pairing. I'm not sure Siovas is any better but the team needs to trade up in this area. Also a new striker is needed with Pulido on the way out. Despite what the Aruca coach said after the match, they weren't the better side. It was a low quality match with Olympiacos clearly the better team but not able to dominate. New signing Andre Martins is quality. He showed good things when he came on. Paolo Bento needs to stop that denim shirt. He looks like a bum.

That graphic was incorrect for the time of the draw in Sydney. It was 21:00. Anyhoo... Olympiakos draw Pot B with: APOEL (Cyp) Young Boys (Sui) Astana (Kaz) Surely with the reinforcements that are imminent, they can get through this stage.

Best of luck. Beat Qarabag at least. Win all home matches and you are in with a very good chance.

Athinaios, probably but 4500 in human existence is not a long time.
-
From what I've read from experts, not nationalists, DNA from modern Greeks indicates a continuing lineage of 4500 years for the region. Is the DNA of modern Greeks similar to ancient Greeks? Short answer is YES. Modern Greeks might also have Illyrian (Albanian) and Slav ancestry but overwhelming DNA analysis shows a clear link between the iinhabitants of the area that comprises modern Greece from 4500 years ago till now. There's a lot of reputable DNA analysis on the web that shows the link between the regions that formed Magna Graecia to the current local populations and to modern Greeks. There's an undisputed link. We often hear (especially in the diaspora) the kafeneio talk how until the Turks came Greeks were blonde. If anyone buys in to this racist rubbish then they need to stop reading the discredited racist theories of Fallmerayer and f***ing Hitler.
-
On a positive note, Manthatis and Retsos played. Andre Martins was very good when he came on.
-
Athinaios, you have no idea. Go have a lie down. Are you seriously claiming that modern Greeks are Turks or Slavs or Albanians? You do your research and let us all know what you find.

Robin Olsen who was supposed to be the starting keeper last season is now number 1 for FC Copenhagen. He played against APOEL last night and will be playing Champions League.

Lucas to Arsenal for 20 million. 6 million coming to PAOK. Very good work.
