Yeah, I don't like that we're now qualifying wins over freaking Germany! Fine, they're in a down cycle for them, sometimes that's what it takes. Greek people just don't like to be happy.

Of course we’ll take the results. None of us were expecting this, so let us enjoy it Re Gamoto lol.. More importantly, it gives confidence to a young team. Of course the performances still need improvement, and yes, we didn’t face Germany of old and the Netherlands absolute best. But not long ago we were losing to Scotland and struggling to beat teams like Georgia. In my opinion, this is a massive step forward for the national team. Sure, we’re still thin and we don’t have five quality options at every position, but we have a bunch of young, creative players. If the coach plays the right system and selects the right players, they’ve shown they can become a dangerous team. Nobody is saying we’re suddenly one of the best teams in Europe. We just want to get back to tournaments, compete, and show we can hold our own against good teams. These results showed we’re moving in that direction. I didn’t want this coach back either, but since they started with him in the nations league, you can’t possibly get rid of him after these results at the moment.

If you told us before the international break that we would be 2-0-2, with Tzolis hurt, we would have taken it.

Yeah, this Germany is much, much weaker than back in the day. It'll take time for them to gel, too. This game showed us just how little depth we have on the wings. Gagatsis needs to go on a complete charm offensive to get Konstantelias back once he's healthy. But even with him, we'd be without competition (or backup) for Karetsas on the right. You all better be hoping your club teams can make their youth take that next leap (I'm looking at you, Chatsidis).

Ya good points we beat a less strong Germany and got a result vs Holland too but last campaign we lost too stinking Scotland. So things are going in the right direction.

Again I 100% agree with you, I’m just worried that in typical Greek fashion EPO will reward him with a longer contract and then we waste this generation. I’m still celebrating and reloading the group table everyday just to see us in the top 2 lol. Of course just qualifying for a major tournament would be a huge change of pace but I think we are capable of so much more. It has been a huge improvement but I just don’t want us to sell ourselves short.

I could care less about 1st place. Realistically we lose to Netherlands and Germany beats Serbia. Good thing is we own the tiebreaker vs the Germans so if we beat the Serbs no matter what we get 2nd minimum

The team showed the grit and the fight of the '04 team today. Very proud of that. Contained the German handily actually. A healthier team and some things we can do better and it's a win today. Great things are happening with this team.
