  1. I saw online that according to reports "Greece will join Saudi Arabia & Egypt in a bid to host the 2030 World Cup. It is believed the Saudis are willing to foot most of the bill with Panathinaikos & PAOK getting new stadiums as part of the bid which would also use Karaiskakis & OPAP Arena." This would be a super weird pairing for WC hosts. I could see a Greece and Egypt WC using antiquity as a theme. Shoot even get Rome involved.

  2. If Italy got involved, Greece would host 1 game, Egypt 1 and the rest would go over there...

  3. PAO just keeps rolling along.....gotta hand it to the coach as he is still able to get the team prepared and get the results despite injuries. He's done a great job juggling the players and seems to be able to get a little something extra out of every player. Brutal game against Lamia which looked more like a rugby match but still got the result.

  4. Yes the goal should be to win the four games and give it all against AEK and get at least a tie. Yesterday with the win we erased the bad result against OFI. Win against AEK away would erase the bad result against Levadeiakos. However all that is wishful thinking as I believe we might stumble against the likes of Tripoli and Volos.

  5. Well there you go, sometimes when you are out of form and struggling a game where you don't have to dominate possession is exactly what you need. Good win always nice to win at the karaiskakis, regardless of how poorly Olympiakos is travelling. In terms of what it does for us, I don't see it really turning our season around. We are where we are and this is looking more and more like a rebuilding year. We had 3 of our back 4 under the age of 22(4/5 if you count Kortarski), I think we will be up and down and will probably finish 3-4. Unfortunate since this year 2nd goes to the Champions League. In saying that I'd love to see us pick up a head of steam and win our last 5 games before the World Cup break, then we can regroup and most of our players will have a mini pre-season since most won't be going to Qatar. Our last 5 before the break: Asteras, AEK (away), PAS, Ionikos (away), Volos. 13 points would be a dream, AEK at Agia Sophia will be a different beast to what we've encountered over recent seasons.

  6. Lyratzis, Ingason, El Kaddouri and Narey our best players. Weak link was Tsaousis. Also don't see a reason why Kurtic keeps playing non-stop.

  7. Congrats PAOK fans. Olympiakos are in huge turmoil. One of their worst teams in a long time with such a huge budget. They need major changes.

  8. Looks like Paschalakis will start in goal for Olympiakos. Any chance he might score against us? I think any result is possible in this game. Both teams are in a slump and Olympiakos on top of that plays European game on Thursday. If we play like we did in the first half against Panathinaikos, than we have a good chance of getting a positive result. Zivkovic is out due to the red card. Also out is Vieirinha who will miss 3 weeks of action. Thomas also out. Koulierakis and Augusto have not practiced yet this week, and I would think that they are questionable for the game unless they return to practices tomorrow.

  9. Word is that Klonaridis is on Poyets radar... work going on for his Greek passport... he is now 30, he is in good form at least, better him than Chatzigiovanis on the right

  10. Wow, amazing scenes. The opening ceremonies was so well done. I almost can't believe it's real! The stadium is beautiful. Bravo Aekara!!!

  11. I guess the dream of winning the Championship is over, better luck next year. Oh, it might make sense for Karipidis to not get involved with the transfers going forward, just a thought.
