  1. I'm VERY happy with what I've seen from our team until now in these qualifiers. Not because we have played some amazing football, but because we are slowly turning into the TEAM we were under Santos (and Rehhagel) again. Once again we're seeing a team that is willing to run and fight for eachother, and that plays effective football. Credit to Skibbe for rightfully diagnosing what went wrong under the previous qualifiers, and cleaning up the bourdello we had become. I'm also positive towards what I've seen because this is a new team, and there is, in my opinion, a lot of potential once we gain more chemistry and experience, especially in our offensive play. Obviously our defence is rock solid (especially once Tzavelas returns), but offensivly i think we show a lot of promise thats needs time to be worked on. As for Cholevas quitting, i say good riddance if he doesn't accept siiting on the bench. We have Tzavellas that rightfully is preferred over him in a 4 man defence, and behind we have Stafylidis who is the future. It's not the first time Cholevas has come across as a bad apple, and lets not forget that he didn't care about his greek heritage before he had the opportunity to play for for a national team that would give him exposure on the big stage.

  2. Now would I rather have Holebas in the lineup? Without a doubt! but who knows? Maybe he was a bad apple in the locker room? Didn't he recently throw his NT jersey in a fit of rage following a loss? Maybe it didn't sit well with the morons at EPO and or his teammates... perhaps Skibbe marginalized him to force him out... who knows.. after all, Remember when Otto got rid of Zikos and Georgatos (by far superior talent) for the sake of team harmony? As we all know, that worked wonders..

  3. mate I don't understand how people in Greece put there club in front of the national team. Secondly EPO is not doing enough to promote the national team. they should make sure that the stadium is full at all times give away tickets to families if they have too. kaftazoglou stadium would be a perfect candidate I would even consider roofing the whole stadium. even get rid of the track increase the capacity to like 35 thousand.

  4. I agree I think it's a bit early to criticize our style of play after what happened in the Euro qualifiers. We are a new team and our first objective is to win games and build confidence as a team. So far we are doing that.

  5. He is a solid EPL player that has a place on this team. I would play him as a left mid/winger where the risk he poses as a defender is mitigated. He is actually one of the most effective attacking players we have and the NT has lost an important player if he stands by his word.

  6. This lineup and formation should 100% be used with the one exception of tachtsidis. He is to slow and casual to play at this level. But the rest of this looks fantastic. A country like Greece who lacks depth needs all of there best players on the field at once. U can't sit kpaps. And the holebas as a wing back is lethal

  7. He likely has an attitude, but he also derseves some respect. He is been a key member of the NT for many years through good and bad, and at 32 is finally getting his due as a Premier League starter. I don't blame him for retiring from the NT, I don't think that loyalty is an issue - he has put in his time and then some. I do blame Skibbe and the EPO. You don't jerk around your stars in favour of the old boys who have no reasonable reason to get a start or a cap and yet still do.

  8. First off I don't blame Holebas at all, why should he continue with this NT when he is a world class player and Skibbe chooses to play hacks in his positions instead. He's given Holebas like 15 Minutes in the last 3 or 4 matches. I have no respect for this coach at all. This will bite us in the ass wait and see. A line up that includes Holebas is so much more dangerous for us especially on the counter. The 9 points is great, but let's be real Bosnia and Belgium will get 9 points against those 3 teams as well. I just heard the Skibbes press conference I truly can't stand the guy.

  9. Well if anyone from Skibbe to EPO to his teammates care enough then they have 1 month to change his mind in time for the Bosnia match. I personally don't see Holebas ever playing again as long as Skibbe is in charge. Shame.

  10. Boythes, lets get happy cause we haven't lost for a while and this campaign is going great. Better than our last campaign, during our rebuilding.

  11. Guys, I don't see how ANY of us can complain about a win after what we just went through with the recent Euro campaign. We were BEGGING for ugly wins not so long ago. 3-0 and with a real chance to actually qualify. Take it!

  12. The solution is to completely disband EPO and start from scratch. Some of the criminals (Girtzikis and co.) have been removed, but a lot of their buddies are still at EPO running things. They completely destroyed the national team the past few years, and that has also been the case with the U-21 team. The most important thing is to appoint a regular coach, and not some ex-player without any coaching experience.
