2024 Olympics - Paris, France

History has been made, Miltos Tentoglou joins Carl Lewis as the only athletes in the men's long jump to win back to back Olympic titles. In the morning session, Elina Tzengko automatically qualifies for the finals with an excellent throw on her final attempt at 63.22m. If she could find her 2022 form, she can contest for a medal in her Olympic debut.

Sad news here is Ariadni Adamopoulou, who did qualify will be out of action in the women's pole vault final sustaining a bicep injury. 😞 Katerina Stefanidi will be looking to capture a second Olympic medal. She will have to jump at least 4.80 or better to have a chance.

Man, Serbia has to be Greece's kryptonite. It is a massive failure! Both the men's basketball team and water polo!
Greece has a decent chance to grab at least one more medal before they say Au Revoir to the Paris Olympic Games.
Only thing left are, 2 from men's wrestling, one from open water swimming marathon, women's artistic swimming, and Elina Tzengko from women's javelin throw.

Perhaps one or two medal for Greece in these Olympics. Kurugliev gets a second chance via repechage and might get the bronze in 86 kg freestyle wrestling. He needs 2 wins against opponents he beat before. Kougioumtzidis gets into action tomorrow and could also be going for a medal.

In water polo our women's team lost to Hungary in the classification 5-8 and will now play for 7th place against Canada.

I think Elina Tzengko has a shot at an Olympic medal. If you watched the men's javelin, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan came out of nowhere and threw a bullet of 92.97 which breaks the Olympic Record. You never know what can happen in these finals. She is not just getting trained by her coach, but also by the president of SEGAS who used to be a javelin thrower herself. She is helping out with her, giving advices that can help her going for an Olympic medal. Let's just hope for the best, she could be peaking at the right time.

She'll have to throw over 65 meters to have any chance for a medal. She has done it before, but not recently. Let's hope she can do it tomorrow.

Russian born Dauren Kurugliev won bronze for Greece (8th medal overall) at the wrestling freestyle 86 km.
He defeated Myles Nazem Amine of San Marino 5-4. Athanasios Kynigakis finished 10th place in the 10 km open water swimming marathon. Georgios Kougioumtsidis lost to Tajikistan's Viktor Rassdin 8-2.

The Olympic Games have ended for Greece with 8 medals. Elina Tzengko finished 9th place at 61.85, just can't get her rhythm going in her final two throws. 64 meters would have gotten her at least silver. A personal best would have been gold since Japan's Haruka Kitaguchi winning throw was 65.80. In Artistic Swimming, both pair Evagelina Plananioti/Sofia Malkogeorgou finished 6th place with 532.3002 total points.
