Antaeus7 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 You want a power game? This has all the making! Sakkari and Andreescu both won their tiebreakers and now playing the 3rd set. Sakkari has 9 double faults and she must improve better on her serves if she is to advance into the quarterfinals.
Antaeus7 Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 SAKKARI BEATS ANDREESCU IN 3 SETS! 3 HOURS 30 MINUTE MATCH. She will face Pilskova in the quarterfinals. Match ended at 2:15 am New York time.
Dutch Eagle Posted September 7, 2021 Author Posted September 7, 2021 What a great win! Bravo, Maria! 1 1
Antaeus7 Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 (edited) If Sakkari defeats Pilskova today, she will face 18 year old Emma Raducanu of Great Britain in the semifinals. Edited September 8, 2021 by Antaeus7
Antaeus7 Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 SAKKARI DEFEATS PILSKOVA 6-4, 6-4! ON TO THE SEMIFINALS!!! She defeated 3 Czechs in this tournament. Man, what are the odds of that happening? Sakkari usually has a history of struggling against players from the Czech Republic.
Blackhawk Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 She was great today. Pliskova never had a chance in the game. Let's hope Maria performs as well tomorrow in the semifinal match.
Dutch Eagle Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 Great win. She now faces 18 years old revelation Emma Raducanu from GB.
Antaeus7 Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 (edited) Sakkari is getting owned in the first set from Raducanu 6-1. She better find a way to compose herself and get back in the game. Hernandez knocked out Sabalenka in 3 sets, we could be seeing two teenagers in the finals. Edited September 10, 2021 by Antaeus7
Antaeus7 Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Congrats to Raducanu, simply played better and was much quicker than Sakkari. Sakkari just played a total opposite than what she played throught the U.S. Open. Is it time to realize Sakkari's opportunity to win her first grand slam is running out? 1
Dutch Eagle Posted August 29, 2022 Author Posted August 29, 2022 The 2022 tournament started. Stefanos Tsitsipas, seeded as #4, faces Daniel Galàn from Colombia in R1. Maria Sakkari (#3) has drawn Tatjana Maria from Germany.
Blackhawk Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 Tsitsipas, one of the biggest losers in tennis today. Out in the first round with an embarrassing defeat to the Colombian.
paokarag4 Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 Awful result, he picked up only one game in the opening 2 sets losing 0-6, 1-6. He would eventual lose the match in 4 sets. He hasn't had a great year but his best is still very good, last week he beat Medvedev on route to a Masters final. His biggest issue is clearly mental and until he can get that sorted he will be prone to these type of results and his inconsistency will always hold him back from competing for slams. 1
Dutch Eagle Posted August 30, 2022 Author Posted August 30, 2022 So Tsitsipas is out but Maria Sakkari advanced to R2. She won 6-4, 3-6 and 6-0. Next opponent Wang Xi Yu from China. 1
Brklyngrk Posted August 30, 2022 Posted August 30, 2022 Tsitsipas has had a good year, I believe he is right up there in wins this year. He just hasn't been able to play well in the slams. 1
Blackhawk Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Sakkari loser number 2! Lost to the Chinese. Both Tsitsipas and Sakkari need some psychological help in order to help them with their loser mentality. 3
Brklyngrk Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 (edited) They seem to struggle in grand slams... Edited September 1, 2022 by Brklyngrk
Dutch Eagle Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 2023 R1 Maria Sakkari (seed #8) - Rebeka Masarova (Spain) 4-6 and 4-6 and out! It's going from bad to worse.
Dutch Eagle Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 Tsitsipas is seeded #7 and faces Canadian Milos Raonic in R1.
Blackhawk Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 And the slide continues. Sakkari is on her way out of the top 10, and I don't see her returning back.
paokarag4 Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 4 hours ago, Dutch Eagle said: Tsitsipas is seeded #7 and faces Canadian Milos Raonic in R1. And he cruises into the 2nd round with an impressive 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 win. Next up he'll face Swiss qualifier Stricker.
Dutch Eagle Posted August 31, 2023 Author Posted August 31, 2023 R2 and out too for Tsitsipas. 5-7, 7-6, 7-6, 6-7 and 3-6.
Blackhawk Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 He is just following in Maria's footsteps. He'll be be out of the top 10 ranking sometimes by next year.
Dutch Eagle Posted August 27, 2024 Author Posted August 27, 2024 2024: R1: Maria Sakkari (seeded #9) - Wang Yafan (China) 2-6 and then Sakkari retired with an injury. R1: Stefanos Tsitsipas (seeded #11) - Thanasis Kokkinakis (Aus)
Dutch Eagle Posted August 27, 2024 Author Posted August 27, 2024 This defeat means he will be slipping away slightly on the ranking as he reached only R2 last year. But it is from bad to worse for Stefanos (and Maria)
