  2. You can see the injury here at 3:04 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjebm_w76WI It looks innocuous, but those ones you can never tell. Fingers crossed it's a not an ACL injury.
  3. Goes without saying huge game. The fact they dropped points on the weekend means a draw is a decent result. They aren't in great form (we aren't playing great football ourselves) With a trip to London midweek, fatigue has been an issue for them coming off a European game. No doubt they'll be fired up for this one though. As Yiankos points out there are a few question marks over starting spots, I think Ferreira will stick with what he's gone with the last few matches. I think Limnios will start instead of El Kaddouri (or maybe Vierinha but it's less likely IMO) as he is a hard worker who will work up and down for the whole 90 and that's something that is needed in these types of matches.
  4. Important win to pull level on points with Olympiakos given we blew the chance we had a few weeks ago. Leading into the derby next week everything is equal, a draw would be a good result but no reason we can't beat them. Zivokvic has never filled me with confidence, he is an accident waiting to happen IMO. Today again he gets shut down when he was on the ball oblivious to the Larissa player who was so close to him. Although Paschalakis also has errors in him I think overall he's the better keeper.
  5. I heard they won't be playing
  6. @pash Say it nicely, I don't want him to think I'm mean
  7. That's Under 10's stuff, never take a chance like that especially in your own box. Attack the ball and deal with the danger.
  8. Agree 100%. It's amazing our last 4 games have produced a very high level of performance and 3 wins. Fantastic signs. We still have people on here complaining. Not sure what more they want. You need to be beating the Finland's, Bosnia's and Armenia's of the group and hope to snatch a result against the big boys. We are Greece we aren't England we aren't expecting to go up against Germany/Belgium and play them off the park. If the game against Italy doesn't give fans confidence that we can match it against the big boys nothing will. Some people just like complaining for the sake of it, nothing is good enough. A lot of people are pissed that Bakesetas got an assist today, all I've read non-stop is "He hasn't scored or assisted he isn't good enough" Anyone who thinks he was poor after the last 2 games really needs to reassess what they consider football knowledge, he has been fine. He clearly isn't Fortounis but he is hard working and is adequate against opposition of this level.
  9. Just saw it, it's an unusual one. He completely stops when the ball is played in, it was a good cross with power and bend and whipped low but the fact the he doesn't even make a play for it is weird. He might not have got there it's hard to tell but just to come to a complete stop? Maybe he thought the keeper was gonna come out and try claim the ball.
  10. Good win and there are positives to take out from that performance. A few points we need to work on/address moving forward. Stafylidis was again good at center back, moving forward when we come up against quality nations who have quality center forwards I think he's going to struggle. I'd say based on the Italy game JVS is aware of this and that's why Siovas partnered Xatzidiakos in that game. Coming up against Italy (or any pot 1 nation) they are going to have a good striker I can see Stafylidis being exposed against these types of opponents. Against smaller nations, it's workable, he has pace and is an okay passer, left footed, he can do a job. Left back is interesting, Tsimikas currently playing very well in the Champions league and is on the cusp of a move to a decent European league. Giannoulis IMO was close to our MOTM today, JVS has a welcome headache at left back as both are quality particularly in attack. Giannoulis crosses almost always find a teammate, get him in space and it's half a goal, he's quality on the ball is incredible. I think I'd give Tsimikas the edge defensively. Galanopoulos was good worked hard, he needs to be careful though, he was sloppy at times in possession and got caught out, better teams will punish us. Nothing that isn't fixable, but he also played a few dangerous passes that we got away with. Vlachodimos again a little nervy, the flag goes up and spares his blushes, he is yet to convince while playing for the Ethniki but I'd like to see him backed for the next 3-4 games. Xatzidiakos looks good, still only 22 but looks up to it. Also those saying Limnios has nailed down left wing, he needs to play on the right (as he did today) When he's played on the left for PAOK he's looked lost. He isn't a technical dribbler, his dribbling is direct head down, take the line whip in a cross. He can't do that on the left. Given Finland have qualified, good opportunity for us to get another win and get 3 in a row. Would be a great way to end the campaign given where we were just 5 months ago.
  11. Assuming both Olympiakos and Red star lose on the next match-day, then any win for Olympiakos on match-day 6 will be enough to give them third spot. So hopefully Bayern take care of Red star in Serbia and then the head to head won't come into it at all.
  12. Zeca resigned at Copenhagen until 2023, he'll be 34-35 at the end of his contract https://www.instagram.com/p/B4iRljjJOUc/
  13. Kyriakos old man just adding some fuel to the Papadopoulos fire which has burnt for so long. Not sure how his body would hold up anymore, this has gone from a no brainer a few years ago to a 50-50 IMO. Given he would be coming on a free transfer probably worth the risk. Again could just be his Dad potentially trying to jack up the price of his new contract wherever it maybe. https://www.novasports.gr/podosfairo/super_league/article/1699470/ston_paok_kai_me_ta_misa_lefta
  14. Squad for the matches against Armenia and Finland announced, as expect Vasiliadis called up for the first time. Mavrias has also been recalled. No Sokratis and Manolas again, which JVS had mentioned would happen.
  15. Welcome to my life ?‍♂️
  16. If El Kaddouri starts Misic won't get benched. It'll be Augosto or even Stoch. El Kaddouri has played on the wing before and I'm pretty sure before he got injured he played there against Asteras was it?
  17. Despite the name of the club, this isn't a Panathinaikos to fear. Should be a routine win and anything less will be disappointing. Good that we've kept 2 clean sheets in the last 2 games, hoping we continue that defensive form up. Honestly looking ahead OFI in Crete is a much bigger threat, they're in good form and we traditionally struggle there (at least recently we have) but one game at a time.
  18. Limnios is anything but a dribbler. He is a hard worker who is extremely disciplined. In terms of dribbling all he can do is cut right, any defender worth his salt will work him out within a few mins of playing him. Donis has more natural talent in comparison. Does that mean Limnios doesn't have a spot on the team? No, as we've seen coaches favour hard workers, he has pace and can be dangerous on the counter. But I don't really want him playing against teams that have a packed defense he generally struggles when there is no room. He is also capable of putting a good ball into the box which if he is given the space to do can be dangerous
  19. Keep them off the team if that's the case. They should be leaders not getting frustrated and having tantrums over their teammates inabilities. The Ethniki hasn't played with so much hunger and desire for years, who was missing? The superstars, if that is truly their attitude then that's fine they don't have to play. Very encouraging signs moving forward over the last 2 games. If sokratis and manolas want to return with the right attitude then it will be a bonus otherwise we move on as a team and continue to build.
  20. Didn't watch the game but saw extended highlights. That performance was ten fold better than anything we've dished up over the last 18 months. Great defense, working together was great to see like the Greece of old. We weren't stunning in attack yet the 2 best chances fell to us with Limnios and Kolouris, needless to say Bakasetas should've done better with his sliced attempt. Games like this you need to take those chances, on another day we are 0-1 or maybe even 0-2 up and it's a completely different game. 2 further things I liked we showed there is life without Sokrati and Manolas. The sun rose and we played well against a superior opponent. I like what Van't Schip is doing, he needs to be backed, this is a rebuild it's not going to happen over night. There is enough there to work with, we have talent what we need is discipline and correct tactics installed. Today was a step in the right direction, let the man work for a while, constantly changing managers isn't going to solve anything. One final thing I'll say is that traditionally these matches suit us better, as in giving up possession, sitting and countering. I feel we still have work to do to be able to comfortably beat the Liechtenstein's, Armenia's of the world. Our attackers work better when they have space we know we aren't a team that can move the ball around unlock a defense. Never the less I'm quite encouraged by that performance and hopeful we back it up against Bosnia and maybe pinch a result.
  21. Tsitsipas beats Djokovic in the quarter finals of the Shanghai Masters 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. Through to the semis where he will take one of his demons Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev hold 4-0 record over Stefano, let's see if he can turn that around and make a second masters final for the year.
  22. Paschalakis ends up getting called up to replace the injured Barkas
  23. No doubt it could get ugly against the Italians. I mean they basically stopped playing after going 3 up in Athens and still could have had 4-5 goals. Without Sokratis and Manolas you feel it could get really bad but who knows. If the reports are correct and Van't Schip intends on calling them up in future, then to me it makes no sense to leave them out for these 2 games. Try the youth v Armenia and Finland next month the last thing we want is two heavy losses against Italy and Bosnia. If he doesn't intend on calling them up again and is going for a full rebuild then it makes sense them leave out and assess your other options. But if not then it's just illogical. But hey this is the Ethniki wouldn't be the first time common sense doesn't prevail.
  24. Apparently Torosidis is retiring. Interesting to see whether Sokratis and Manolas is a permanent thing or they are being left out because we have conceded we aren't qualifying for Euro 2020 and they've asked to be left out to focus on their club form/fitness If Van't Schip has seen something he doesn't like in the dressing rooms from these guys then it brings back memories of Rehhagel in 2002, when he booted Georgatos, Zikos and others. Now this can obviously back fire because one: those 2 are by far our best center backs and two: It could upset the rest of the squad and the revolving coaching door of the ethniki will continue. If they cut all the senior guys (which maybe the case if Zeca and Mitro are indeed left out) the younger generation are probably inclined to take the opportunity with both hands and really establish themselves/rebuild the NT with Van't Schip. If that is the case I hope the younger guys don't turn on the coach, work hard take this chance, thrive on the responsibility. Get us back contending for qualification in the next 2-3 tournaments.
  25. I have a feeling it's around 59 or something, Olympiakos have it I believe. With the draw overnight we sit at 40 games unbeaten.
