  1. You have a very good player in Mak, congratz to who ever brought him to the club.
  2. Typical scenario were uefa favour the much richer side. I knew atromitos would hold their own. This fener team isn't ready....
  3. Well he is not a natural winger, i can tell you that much. Looks another tweener. I don't rate klaus but that's beside the point. I don't care if he was mvp last year, i'm judging what i see now and i repeat 'poloi ligos'.
  4. Ditto. Small team mentality putting on a defensive player at this stage of the game, against this opposition.
  5. Notice how berg doesn't pass the ball? It's like he doesn't have faith in those around him. Can you blame him?
  6. And that proves what exactly? I want him to be productive now.
  7. Can someone explain to me what position kaltsas plays? Poloi ligos, i actually miss salpi. As for lod, the guy has pulled off a disappearing act. Poor petric is trying by himself. I don't expect much from karelis, other than to finish off chances.
  8. wemmer blows, offers nothing going forward and stays out of position leaving his team mates to mop up. Almost cost us a goal, tavla saved us.
  9. That's a crazy thought. I won't even consider pao having to regress for the sake of the national side where a bunch of clowns (with agent handlers) get together and take a piss out of important games. Once upon a time they had my respect not now. Obviously it's not all their fault, as our production has regressed (in certain areas), but more so has the attitude to a point where they lose to the lesser sides of europe. The other day i was watching mancity play chelsea and i counted a total of four english players (3 being defense minded). Now england's grass roots problems have been well known for decades now but the fact that the FA haven't done much to rectify the issue, is their problem. Similarly EPO hasn't done much either. Germany are world champs because of the changes that were made post 2002. They themselves were not happy with the perception of the typical german footballer who was seen as hard nosed, resilient and strong in the tackle. They wanted to produce more technically gifted guys and they have successful done that. Neuer off course is not only a player that belongs to the ages but a blend of both.
  10. They signed bourbo last season as well with the expectation that he becomes a starter. It didn't happen. Wemmer comes with much more expectation but i haven't seen much to suggest, he will be an upgrade. I know it's early but i won't be surprised if zeca ends up playing there, especially if there is no need to play him in the midfield now that we have abeid and essien putting their hands up for selection. There is no doubt that zeca does amazing work of the ball but eventually we need to shy away from CM that are limited offensively and opt for more complete midfielders. I know that rather sounds contracting since i nominated him to play at right back, but i only said zeca because he has played there before and performed reasonably well, not to mention is slightly better on the ball than wemmer.
  11. ^^That lineup needs a gabriel at right back, generally you want your wing backs to be comfortable on the ball. I would replace wemmer with zeca and move pranjic into the midfield. Overall it's probably the best thing we can put up, decent midfield set up. Pre-season is all but over but i think if we had our signings in earlier, we could've tested a 3 man defense which has given us so much success in europe. Also watching brugge, they were so versatile changing from a 4-5-1 to 5-3-2. I wouldn't attempt it now unless your desperate because it takes significant amount of time to implement but anyway this is how it could look: -------------------------sanchez ---------------tavla-----------------thelander Zeca------------------------------------------------nano -------------------------ninis -----------abeid--------------------pranjic(essien) -----------berg----------------------karelis Sanchez and tavla both love to play the stopper role, eventually one has to stay back and cover like gordon did. In this system though it's pretty clear that sanchez is the last man. He is not the quickest but what i noticed is that can cover for evacuated space really well. Off course he is more than comfortable on the ball, so he can bring it out with ease. The obvious concern is when nano and zeca go forward, tavla and thelander (who we haven't seen much) need to be quick to provide cover on the flanks and this is where the system can crash. In the midfield you have a nice balance of ball retention, retrieval and run, mind you we don't know if essien will provide the necessary run which is why i've gone with pranjic. Finally ninis as a register? It's hard to make plans for someone that tends to go missing in games all too often but i've never seen him in this role. Lacks the flair of say a modric, but i don't see why can't do a neat job of recycling possession.
  12. Kaltsas would have to push karelis out of the team, in order for you to win your bet. I imagine fortounis will play whenever chori needs a rest.
  13. I don't care for the uefa or europa cup, but that year gala and leeds lit it up for me. Amazing sides both of them and off course hagi was a stand out.
  14. He stunk it up. Struggled for pace, even klose (37 mind you), kept him on his toes. In the air he fought well, but on ground level he was exposed time and time again. I see he is still making rash decisions, needs to better.
  15. Dortmund have three stars that are on are another level from the rest, with each better than the other.
  16. We payed 200k or whatever for a 17 year old from panionio that won't play first team football, what's another 200k to bring in a certain starter? As for pardo, i was referring to players from the Portuguese, spanish etc market. Although i'm now reading they got some kid from estoril, make that two. As for sanchez, he can post on instagram and that other crap twitter or he wants, as long as he brings it on the pitch.
  17. First logical thing i've read on this side of the forum. There was talk of leto as well before the injuries kicked in. These guys bring the attacking flair our guys lack. We have enough defensive minded players and good ones at that at but from the middle up there is nothing to get excited about. I'm looking at some lineups posted in this thread and can't help wondering that no matter who plays, the end result is the always going to be the same. I mean a lot of players have been capped in recent years but the only core guys that remain are those playing at the back.
  18. @freeze, Despite his connections, they have only managed to sign pardo. Whether they bring in more remains to be seen. At least for his sake he has chori. It's a tough ask for any of their domestic talents to come good. What annoys me about the gavro is that they sign all the cheap south americans that do well for the smaller sides. For instance martinez from panetolikos is a good player, how much he plays is another story altogether. For our budget, these are the type of guys we should be getting.
  19. I never knew borrelli worked for us. Equi just got appointed, whilst rocha has always been affiliated with the club even though we rarely listen to him. I'm not sure if gilberto is working with us, there were some rumours circulating....Regardless brazilians have never really panned out for us in the past. Our most successful market by far has been argentina. Bar romeo, the rest have been great buys.
