  1. I enjoy watching women's football and it is getting better, except for the goalkeeping it's abysmal
  2. anyone have any idea what kind of standard these girls and the league are at? I'm assuming a rung below the australian and US club teams.
  3. patience I have, hope I have even faith I have, but belief no. a wise man once told me to measure twice and cut once [he also said kai prosekse na min kopseis ta dachtyla sou kosta], no one at the club at the moment has the foresight to measure at all, they just cut and when it doesn't fit throw it out and start again.
  4. judging by history the opposite will happen
  5. No one is writing us off, but let's be realistic here, we shouldn't be aiming to have a team that can qualify 'if everything goes right' we need to be aiming for a team that matches those teams even on an average day. Can we beat any of those teams? Yes. Are we likely to? Hell no.
  6. Pana, corrected for accuracy This is the thing pana, you can't just build a team and say 'right boys welcome to thessaloniki, we are playing against AJAX next week, they have 8 of their starting XI returning from last year and one of their three new players is brought up from the academy, now find your translator and introduce yourselves to your new teammates, we have 4 training sessions between now and next week to work out how we fight 15 full backs into our lineup, I know if you just try really really hard we can win'
  7. sheriff is right, what does it matter if Ajax are weaker than they were 6 years ago when if you compare our team to what it was 6 years ago......hmmm whats a good analogy here, oh I know boston thanatos said it best "It's like comparing The Golden State Warriors to a YMCA league of retarded midgets with no arms..."
  8. We'd still end up second and stuffing it up in the playoffs
  9. Klaous will not go to China, the chinese paid 2.5 million for Giannou because he is Australian and in the asian conference you can have 3 foreigners +1 asian conference foreigner. For Klaous to go he would be taking the place of a Brazilian/Argentine/Italian/Spaniard in other words no chance. Giannou was fighting for his spot against the likes of australians/japanese [who dont really go to chinese teams] and koreans. The pool of players to choose form between the two is vastly different and Klaous is not that good.
  10. I was being a shifty Greek, your original statement did not say 48 hours from the end of the previous game, just cannot be scheduled and games are scheduled by their start time not their finish time. as for the second part of your comment, no one cares about Sydney anyway.
  11. bravo sas, exactly what the squad needs, another full back
  12. honestly it's like he's a child. it's easy to crack a tantrum, alla tora ekane tin m*****a tou and now it's time to pull up the big boy pants and learn from his mistakes. if he wants to be directly involved in the club, who am I to tell him no, but prove that you can develop in the role.
  13. I wish he would threaten to build a decent squad
  14. just to elaborate on pontos post. that's what we will give them to take olsen away
  15. Next season is already over, in fact if no one seriously pulls their finger out just give Olympiakos the next 3 titles. I've said it before and I will say it again, Olympiakos success is killing the competitiveness of the Superleague and the Superleague's lack of competitiveness is killing Olympiakos ability to improve and therefore challenge seriously in Europe. If you don't have regular cut throat games when they do arrive it's such a shock to the system they can't succeed. You don't win anything without being battle hardened and at the moment a wet paper bag puts up more resistence in the league.
  16. There's precedent for clubs from different countries playing [albeit fictional countries] The Australian league has a team from New Zealand playing in it. Different country, passport, even confederation
  17. was voted into the bundesliga team of the year last year as a full back
  18. the balance is there, quality not quite just yet. can they reach the knockouts? yes if they don't get a complete clusterfark of a group like last time but if they were to draw holland spain and chile again, not a chance. but if you think how far the squad has come from the rezili it was under verbeek and osieck in such a short time it's a feather in ange's cap for sure
  19. The biggest problem is that more often than not the ethniki don't play to their potential. Performance is as much about consistency as it is ability.
  20. I'm not particularly invested either way so I won't be too shattered to see a sub par performance from the ethniki, in fact I expect it when they come here on what's basically their holidays and get taken out everywhere and don't have to pay a thing. Player for player the greek squad is stronger, but at the moment the system, discipline and balance the australian team plays with and has across the squad makes them a dangerous opponent for most teams. If the ethniki don't turn up to play it won't bother me, I don't think it's an accurate reflection of their ability/potential but it is probably an accurate reflection of their attitude to playing for the national team.
