  1. how can you have so many foreigners playing as Greeks? On a side note, I bet Antendocoubo was always welcomed in society growing up as a black kid, and I could imagine if he were to hold the Greek flag at a national parade.... Now, every day, the Greek sports papers have something about greatness in the NBA...because now he's the Greek kid kicking ass in the US.
  2. ^^^ Agreed. The budget is going to be smaller for the foreseeable future, unless the club has some Euro success and money comes in. They should be scouting the Greek leagues for players but I'm afraid there aren't many talents being produced as in the past. Even lesser teams get cheap African (or from wherever) players. By the way, do you think Ninis still has it? Last time he came back for us he didn't do much. The other 2 are fine.
  3. Is Manolo safe after losing to PAO? AEK needs to pick up game if they want to be part of the playoffs this season.
  4. Two players have made a huge difference: Klonaridis and Kourbelis. I think Berg is on fire because he's not alone up front and others take some pressure off him and Klona has helped a lot. Same with Kourbelis in midfield. Zeca just said that he doesn't have to run like crazy horse everywhere, plus Kourb works well with him. I think Berg will be pressured to sign with another bigger euro team this summer, but if PAO ends the season on a good note, he'll stay.
  5. I didn't see that but I saw that he was elbowed and fell just as gave the ball to Lod who crossed it to Berg for the goal. http://www.novasports.gr/match-center/match-center-agonas/match/1933/aek-panathinaikos/ Anyway, Leto should be smarter and not get cheap cards or punishment for unsportsmanlike conduct. I think Zeca got smarter on this... (let's hope)
  6. They deserved to win.... Great effort, chased after every ball for 90+ minutes.... For the last couple years, they would tire after 1 hr... I like the transformation of this team. Hopeful...
  7. Bravo....................... 2-3 (Berg) Amazing!!!!!!!!!
  8. That wasn't a penalty..... AEK Christodoloupoulos scored 1-2
  9. What a transformation.... If you asked me a couple months ago that we'd be playing like this, I wouldn't have believed you.... Great message to send to everyone today.... playoffs or the cup, I think we're the better team right now.
  10. would also send a message in view of the cup and the playoffs
  11. Choose your poison well.... Remember, what doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger!
  12. There are lots of secrets that he keeps, but nothing is a mystery! He is who we thought he was. Oh, and he speaks his mind...
  13. Since the early 2000s, the PAO section always has had more posts that all other teams combined. It's just more interesting here!
  14. Slavery if freedom; ignorance is strength; war is peace!
  15. I don't know about Wemmer..... is he any good? Is Nike paying like $50 mil to be on our jerseys?
  16. OK, let's say I wanted to give Trump a chance, but I'm afraid he doesn't really know anything about government, because he never thought about anything in depth. I thought he was making up stuff as he campaigned, and either he didn't he'd win or if he won he'd think of something. He kept saying that he'd repeal and replace Obamacare on the first day of his term, perhaps the first hour..... Then he recently said, no one knew health care would be so complicated.... But, I thought he claimed, no one knows the system so well.... so he alone can fix it...
  17. What are you doing, man? Don't you remember that a few years ago I was fighting a bunch of people here on such matters of historical truths? Let's just say that what most modern Greeks know of their history is based on school books that omit half of the pertinent events and on popular myths that most countries make up to foster nationalism.
  18. Getting 1-1 tie today was a great achievement against a much stronger team like Belgium. I think the new coach has the same recipe as Otto, play strong defense, frustrate the opponents, never mind about playing attractive football, and score on counter-attacks. It won't be pretty but given the talent available, Greece can achieve good things in football if they have discipline and a good plan. [things that lack in the greater society]
  19. The times have changed. Drive-by shootings and uniformed comments should not be allowed here. Enough of this b.s., fake news, and promoting idiocy. I thought we went over that... So, here what historically happened: When the Dems had control of Congress in Obama's first 2 years, we got the new health care that insured tens of millions of uninsured, covered pre -existing conditions, removed coverage lifetime caps, etc. Flawed by sensible system. Oh, and not forget the stimulus package that took us out of the great recession. He also saved the auto industry, made Wall Street pay back the bailout money, killed Osama, etc. This all in the face of the "party of no" that sabotaged Obama every single step of the way. When the Repubs were in the minority in the Senate they filibustered all the way, and when they got the majority they were even worse. So, what happened to "I have a terrific plan that will cover everyone, for lower cost and better coverage" than the Obamacare? Well, what happened is that he said, "no one knew healthcare would be so complicated" [shows how unprepared and ignorant he is] ...and "I'm best in making deals" to not being able to sell Trumpcare to his own party that controls Congress. Are we great yet?....
  20. You guys have no chance at Leoforos! It'll be PAO-AEK for the final. Though seriously, at this point any team can win the cup. Same for the playoffs. What makes me a bit confident for PAO is that they seem to be clicking in ways not seen in a very long time. Yes, gavroi are they worst in many years, but not even having a scoring chance at the derby may indicate PAO is getting stronger.
  21. It's a new reality, soccer in Greece won't be as big as when it had the virtual monopoly. Empty stadiums aren't good. I think a 35 thousand seat home would be fine. Unless someone shows me credible arguments or evidence that a bigger stadium would fill most of the time, plus the projections into the future (which is admittedly hard to do), I just don't see big investments into Greek soccer. It's not only the stadiums (most of which are like a Third World country's), but the general state of the sport. There has to be a massive investment into building great teams that can seriously compete in Europe... and by compete I mean maybe reach the quarter finals.... The gap between half a dozen top teams and the rest is getting wider.
  22. Dedicated to Tzatziki.... How do you call the ...lamb-tzatziki-wrap?
  23. Raise the status of women. When women get education and access to economic opportunity, they start having fewer children. Of course culture and religion are against gender equality.
  24. This week, sadly, two music legends died. Chuck Berry, who arguably was the father of rock and roll, even before Elvis was cool. .... And, the second one was James Cotton
  25. If we are to raise the living standards for humanity, there has to be population reduction. Even if you could, by magic, wanted to raise every human to the level of affluence in the US, you couldn't do it. You'd need 3 more earths. Technology can do so much, but there's a finite level of resources. One way to improve the world and reduce birth rates is to raise the status of women. In advanced countries, life spans doubled in the last 100 years! Doubled! But, the problem of population growth is in poor countries. Religion, culture, and economics in those countries perpetuate the problem of overpopulation. By the way, we farm very close to 100% of arable land, and there are water shortages worldwide, especially water for human consumption. A couple billion of people don't have access to clean water. Polluted water isn’t just dirty—it’s deadly. Some 1.8 million people die every year of diarrheal diseases like cholera. Tens of millions of others are seriously sickened by a host of water-related ailments—many of which are easily preventable.
