  1. You sir, are hardcore! Ivan the Terrible comes to Thessaloniki, pays off our 10 million euro debt (do you remember that?) increases the player budget I don't know how much but it must be 3 or 4 fold, has built the best youth facilities in the country, makes it so that we are genuine contenders each season, wins us 2 championships and 4 cups and you reaction is ... where is the stadium ha ha. Good lord, will you ever be thankful? I guess if not by now, then the answer is no. Maybe one day you'll get your wish and Ivan the Terrible will leave. And then you will see what happens. If you're not sure go and speak to a Panathinaikos fan. Once they chased away the Vardinoyiannides that were putting in the money for all those years they haven't won a championships since then. At the time though the fans were all giving each other high fives about how hardcore they were. I think even if the stadium was built you'd would still complain. If the club ever gets sold to someone with money, hey, I won't be upset but in all our illustrious history only one person has put in big money so I ain't holding out much hope. It's not like there's a massive queue of people hanging to buy the club.

  3. Jovanovich mainly plays 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1. He usually plays a possession game and tends to favor players who perform their defensive duties properly and work hard through out the 90 min. He has no problem using younger players (ex: Ioannides, Vagiannides) but he has shown a tendency to stick with certain players who may not be in form. Of course this is based on what I saw at PAO and the NT is a totally different beast. At least he won't have to worry about transfers or being screwed over by the owner and media. The main thing he brings, besides experience, is a logical thought process in the game (being able to identify and play to the strengths of the players available) as well as plain speaking, honesty, creating a tight team mentality and a refreshing dignified approach to dealing with the media. He is, imo, a very capable manager who is able of getting the most out of his players. Best of luck to him.

  4. Here are some fun facts that nobody will care about: I was curious about Guinea (where our next signing is from), so I read its wikipedia article. It mentions a dictator named Toure, which I'm sure many of you recognize as the last name of many professional players. So I look up the surname Toure (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touré), and learn it may be descended from the name Elephant. Perhaps to indicate a person who was big and strong? Anyway, that article mentions the language of the Ghana empire, so I look at that article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghana_Empire). In that, I see that Ghana means warrior, or war chief. And right under that, I see that Wague is a term for nobility. So we basically managed to destroy the career of a king! I tried looking up Kamara and Camara on the same page, and got no definitions. A chat bot I just asked states that those two names are not necessarily related to each other, but that Kamara means "teacher" or "scholar" in some languages. Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

  6. BTW the teams in the 1-4 playoffs and 9-14 playouts keep the same points after the end of regular season. The 5-8 teams have their points divided in half going into the European spot tournament. It is also possible that the team that finishes in 5th place does not get the European spot if a team outside of the 1-4 playoffs wins the Greek Cup. It's my belief that these stupid playoffs/playouts should be abolished forever.

  7. That is like saying the junior teams are a failure if every two years they don't produce 3 starters. Personally I see this as a way to polish the U17/U19 players against physically mature opponents before they get the charity 10 minutes from Lucescu. It also gives the club the opportunity to say to the entourages of any players with a big head "fine, the kid can tear apart other kids his age now show us he can do it in the B team before you start breaking my balls to be in the first team starting XI". Also we can also probably assume like most things Greek the first season would have been a sh1te show of disorganisation and getting the right people in place so really it's only had about one full season. Was the previous situation better is also worth asking and should we revert to that?

  8. Agree, far from the worst place to be a loaned too especially with an all-time great striker as his manager! Worst case he comes back to us at 19 after having a played a year in Germany (even if it is the 2nd tier) with still plenty of scope for improvement and development. These are the types of leagues to loan too, not within Greece IMO.

  11. I think it's a good move. He's a good coach, who has worked in Greek football and understands how it works and the culture, that is a big plus. He was unfairly sacked as PAO manager IMO and should probably still be at the helm. He is also being well received by fans (judging off social media) which is a good thing. As we know football in Greece is volatile, so having the fans on side, will help him settle into the role and get the ball rolling.

Marcos A was on 1m ,he wage is now gone and we baught in Camara.. why dont we sign Giannoulis to put pressure on Baba? why dont we sign a left whinger, as no way Taison will do what he did last season... Going into a champions league qualifiers season with Samata & Brandon is just mind blowing. Maybe Ivan should sell.... Or bring in a partner.... Last 7 seasons his made money from PAOK We look to sell 20,000 season passes and all we need is 3-4 players to take us to another level and tipota... Do you blame Razvan for being pissed?

  21. For what it's worth, the random phone app I use still lists it as our next game. Lucescu also mentions both the "wednesday game" being two sixty minute halves (and that he wants two games on the same day for the last friendly), about six minutes into this video. It's probably still on, I would guess.

  23. Well for one, we're talking about the second stringers here. You might not have noticed, but the B team did not actually travel to Holland. As for that team, you would write off an entire program because it didn't result in star players after three seasons? What if I told you that Koulierakis played 22 games for the B team, before getting called up to the senior squad?

  28. Jovanovich is a way better manager than Poyet. The job he did with PAO was remarkable. If only EPO got rid of Poyet before playoffs when he was talking about the Ireland job, his assistant allegedly not being paid and other stupidities instead of focusing on us qualifying. Had they appointed Jovanovich we would have qualified! When the group stage draw was announced I said if Greece made it we would get out of that group as the Turks & Czechs were definitely beatable and having Portugal in the last match day would be a huge advantage as they would most certainly be qualified and rest their best players. Well Georgia beat 🇵🇹 yesterday who sat Fernandes, Silva, Leao and others. I am pissed Poyet fd us up and pissed at a few of our key players who played terribly vs Georgia and now they are playing in the round of 16! What a kick in the nuts!!

  29. I was looking at Nuremberg's lineup, in light of the Tzimas move. I don't think I've ever seen a situation more set up for Tzimas to get a lot of minutes. They ended the season with four (!) strikers. Of those four, two are about to become free agents, while one was on loan from Sint-Truidense. Every one of those three made seventeen appearances, and none of them scored more than four goals in the entire season (all competitions). The remaining player, Julian Kania, was promoted from their B team on 29 September, and only played four games for them in the ~8 months since. No goals. That club clearly had a problem with their CFs last season, which might explain why they ended up with four players. I would expect them to still add a third, but unless that guy is a total stud I can't see Tzimas not clinching the starting role... Link so you can see for yourselves: https://www.transfermarkt.com/1-fc-nurnberg/startseite/verein/4 - also, it's notable that the respectable "market value" of the club is 1/3 tied to their Turko-Germanic attacking midfielder, who scored a very respectable 19 goals in 32 appearances (16/30 in the league).

  31. This is interesting. Klose was announced as coach of Nuremberg on the 11th. https://inpaok.com/825310/diplo-endiaferon-gia-tzima/ Considering that we are still being linked with many strikers, and we've heard nothing about Samatta actually leaving, I could definitely see us loaning Tzimas out (particularly since he's now with us for four more years). If Klose has any ability to impart his wisdom, this could be an amazing opportunity for the kid.

InPAOK is saying the Belgians are saying we're interested in this guy (as are the Saudis). https://www.transfermarkt.us/tarik-tissoudali/profil/spieler/245228 Scored a lot of goals last year, but don't know much about him either way. I doubt we will be willing to get into a bidding war with the Saudis.

  34. Everyone's favorite podcast that actually updates, PAOK Today, is saying that PAOK is looking for Misic as the anti-Meite, and also still wants to move on Razvan Marin. The sticking point being, how much it would cost to get both players (who are under contract for another year). Misic is better than Meite, and I like what I saw of Marin's highlights. I think if we can get them both, we will have a very, very solid midfield.

  42. I asked a coworker who spends a lot more time watching Spanish teams than me: "yeah he blows ass." However, the numbers don't lie here. Both his solid scoring rate, and his age.... Personally, I would not attempt to sign him. I think we can get someone who's younger. It does seem that if this is Lucescu's pick, that he is possibly giving up on the Prijovic "style" (which has now failed with both Oliveira and Samatta). Braithwaite definitely is more dynamic. I'm more concerned with how we'll be getting rid of Samatta and Nasberg, really.

  44. We started this season with a coefficient of 34.500 as we got rid of the bad 2019/2020 season where we as reigning champions could not reach a GS. As we will at least reach PO ECL we are sure of 2.500 for reaching that. Therefore we are now again at 37.000 where we ended last season. Wednesday we will learn our opponent or the two possible opponents if we draw "a winner of a Q1-tie".
