  1. A win here will set off the following chain of events : - Ranked in pot 3 for WC Qualifying - Top the following group: England, Wales, Greece, Estonia, and San Marino . (We don’t drop any points) - Go into the WC Draw still as underdogs, with media saying we were a fluke. We get drawn with : USA, Greece, Germany, Japan. - Group goes as followed: Greece 9, Germany 6, USA 3, Japan 0. - Make a run all the way to the WC Finals against European champs , Netherlands. Media plays up the JVS vs Netherlands story line. We win easily, 3-0 with goals from Fortounis (2) an

  3. I might be alone on here thinking this but I’d like to see JVS take this team to World Cup qualifiers.. I think he deserves a chance. Changing coaches should not be an option right now IMO...

  4. Needless to say fortounis is our best and most consistent player. I honestly rate him in the likes of manolas and Sokratis. I am glad we have gone back to complaining about how bad the NT played in wins. It’s refreshing considering our performances in the past few years

  5. No. On the good news. Bosnia lost and Finland also lost. We are 29th in the UEFA rankings, remaning in pot 3.

  6. Some points If Fortounis doesn't start, this game could have ended 0-0. It's taken the 5th game of the NL for JVS to work it out. Hopefully, not too late. Bakasetas finally scored in open play. Tziolis. I haven't been this excited about a Greek player since Samaras in 2005 and Fortounis in 2012. We are spoilt at LB; Tzimikas, Giannoulis Why is finishing top of Group C important? 1. Automatic promotion to League B; 2. Play better teams in League B, which can accelerate the run up the FIFA rankings; and 3. Possible 2nd chance, to qualify for Qatar

  7. Sometimes when Greece and Cyprus play each other, Greece wins under fishy circumstances, but this was well-deserved for Greece. Probably should have been more than 2-1. JVS has the ethniki playing the best since Santos, and Cyprus have not looked good under Walem, even lost to Luxembourg.

  13. Well if you are in the middle of a rebuilding process it makes sense. Also anybody that revolted against a coach and tried to sabotage the team should never wear the NT jersey.

  14. NEEDLESS to say JVS HAS TO approach Manolas/Siovas and Sokratis if he moves from Arsenal for the qualifiers.

  18. A lot of really good points here! Bouchalakis is and has always been a confidence player. He had 2 attempted smart passes to split the defensive lines that were unsuccessful and to our surprise(after viewing the match data) did substantial work on the defensive side of the ball. However, he is not and will never be a real deep lying playmaker. He lost the ball in possession 9 times, which led the ethniki last night. Unfortunately, it's not as if we get much more out of Kourbelis either. This national team is missing the likes of a healthy and in form Galanopoulos. Pavlidis should nev

  19. In regards to the National Team, Vrousai is with the U21. If your question is more general about what's going on with him, it's something that we have lamented for weeks. He has been completely mishandled by the club and in our opinion has not been given a fair shake. He rides the bench while Lazar Randjelovic continues to put uninspiring performances on the field. He wanted to go back to the Netherlands on loan again or on a permanent move but the club announced he was to be a core part of the team. The saga with Mario is very frustrating.

  20. FYROM will participate in Euro 2021??? f***ing Lampropoulos destroyed us with that own goal against Estonia. But for that guy and the idiocy of Anastasiadis who started our B team that game, we would have reached the play off.

  21. Hello Everyone! We couldn't believe our ears when we heard there was an active Greek soccer community! Glad to see the majority were as positive about yesterday's performance as we are. Now we just need to cross our fingers and hope JVS continues with the great showing we saw and not reverting to some of the miserable lineups with players out of position we saw in the past. Also thought it would be worth mentioning that since the Covid restart, Greece has maintained the highest match tempo it has EVER had since game data has been available. Greece is averaging 17.83 passes per

  23. Glad he is giving Tziolis/Giakoumakis/Xatzi a chance. Good time to experiment. For all those bashing the coach, say what you want with selections, the team HAS been playing better under him. I see more passion, ball control and overall competitiveness. Just before he arrived, we saw players not hustle and generally play poor. Do you guys not remember the game against Italy were we couldn't get out of our own half? We may have had "better" players but we were not a team.

  24. Well, in support of your argument, the fact that Ferreira left him out of the list for the UEFA games implies that he also didn't like what he saw. In opposition to your argument: your mother was a hamster and your father smells of elderberries.

  25. You and me are probably the only ones here stating the obvious things but according to pals here I'm a straight troll. Would like for once if someone could explain why for example Mavrias with no playing time gets a call up while the Asteras Tripolis/Atromitos right backs are being overlooked, or even Kitsiou. Btw lack of playing time was the reason why Fortounis has been benched but that didn't stop him to call up Harris fcking Mavrias as if we're living 2012 all over again.

  26. Lol at first they told us 6 week lockdown, this started early July and went to October 28. We had an 8pm curfew for almost 2 months, we have been wearing masks inside and outside for 3+ months and still continue to do so. We peaked at 750 daily cases in August and now we have had 4 days of 0. It was brutal but now we face the potential prospect of 2021 being a normal year for us, no masks, no social distancing, full crowds at sporting events etc.

  28. This is a bit disappointing. Having matilla-sasha-jeggo did produce some wall that prevented and intercepted many attacks of olympiakos, but creativity and pass accuracy wise, it was much worse, plus Jeggo is worse with the two. In attack I had a feeling like we were a player or 2 down compared to Oly, like we have had no player to pass to when we are close to their box. Against a weaker opponent it is exactly how I felt that we had always a player or two up which was tearing the opposition apart in the second half whenever we gathered 3 points. This means that our mentality is bad t

  29. Key to success until the end of the season: 1. Keep the great atmosphere under Karipidis as it has been almost from day 1 he arrived 2. Keep splitting Matilla-Sasha partnership from 1st minute as it has been executed with Jeggo 3. Revitalization of Sundgren that made Ganea on bench, plus made more competition at wing-backs 4. Splitting the partnership of Datković from 1st minute with any player Rose or Delizissis (Benalouane in, of course I don't wish anyone got injured for execution of this) 5. Benalouane converting to Ronaldo Guiaro type by each match coming and not

  30. Below is a link to JVS speaking about Fortounis and explaining how he was able to take advice on board and showed improvement in his problem areas over the last few games. https://www.novasports.gr/podosfairo/super-league-1/article/1843773/fant-sxip-epelexa-na-doso-xrono-ston-fortouni-vid Based on how JVS praised him, I'd say there's a good chance he's a starter come the Qualifiers in March.

  31. This is our best 11 in my opinion. If everyone is fit and healthy: Vlachodimos Masoura Mavropano Manola Tsimi Zeca Mantalos Limnios Fortounis Tzolis Fountas/Giakoumakis We need to try Mantalos as an 8. Zeca can stay as a 6. Fortounis in his natural position. Fountas I think out of all of our strikers is our best. But I’m not completely satisfied with our strikers. We need someone better. Subs - Donis (when fit and healthy) Vasiliadis, Galanopoulos, Pavlidis, Masouras, Barkas, Retsos To be dropped completely - Bakasetas, Svarnas, Kourbelis, Ma

  32. Overall, the team played so much better under JVS. No one can dispute that. I almost feel against better teams, we would have a better chance to score as they would commit more forward. Having the ball is something new for us as we never used to dominate possession.

  35. Tzavellas should be no where near the national team for me. We have better CBs. Kyriakopoulos isn’t as special as Tsimikas, Giannoulis or even Koutris. He still has to prove himself, especially for Greece. Fortounis is our best player.

  36. The only one who hurts here is probably you, the manager and everyone else who bashed on Fortounis saying he should stay in the bench. Unfortunately the team was missing Mantalos to start over him and worry in the end of the game why the team dropped points to Moldova.

  39. Gotta say credit to Fortounis, he's pressed (won the ball in dangerous positions as a result!) and worked hard defensively. At times he's made some slack errors on the ball but well done to him for putting in effort and improving his problem areas, long may it continue!

  40. Fortunately, yes, as you said, this national nightmare will soon be over (well, in some 75 very painful days). WI, MI, PA established voting rules under Republican leadership. GA's gov, secy of State and legislature all Repubs. Repubs won seats in the House and Senate, which doesn't make sense if Dems were cooking the votes. This clown at the WH claims that the universe is out to get him. In my mind, it's a question about citizenship and patriotism to all those who have supported Trump and now are empowering him instead of telling him to stop his dangerous nonsense. 41. +42 Some coaches just over engineer their teams unnecessarily. What they see, I don't know. Keep it simple. Adjust to your opponent if they are clearly superior, likewise if they are clearly inferior. Exploit obvious weaknesses. Be flexible when required. It's not that hard. Ferreira seemed to get it right in Europe with the 3-4-3 we did well but he'd use the same system in the GSL for no valid reason. Maybe he thought the players can't cope with two systems. Really ? I don't know if Garcia got lucky today, time will tell. One thing is for sure, he won't accept crap per
