I really hope Greece keeps JVS. He has the Ethniki headed in the right direction.5 points

VAR can't be used to deem if the ball has crossed the goal line. Goal line technology has to be in place, so with no goal line tech, the ref/linesman don't give the goal it's no goal. Pretty silly when you think VAR was able to determine along the same line that the ball had gone out and they disallowed Pavlidis' goal.3 points

Reporter asked JVS that Chivas in Mexico are interested in his services and if he would leave before next months games. He said he coached there before and its just a rumor and that he still wants to stay on even after his contract expires. I can feel the disappointment in his voice. I also liked when he stuck it to one of the Swedish reporter saying today Sweden absolutely got lucky lol.. after some back in forth with the game we won 2-1 were JVS claimed Swedish media said Greece were 'lucky' after the win.3 points

There is certainly pros and cons to JVS and that also is what worries me, early on I was very excited with the football we played under him and how dynamic we were but then we failed in the Nations League in a group we should have won and now the inability to beat Georgia at home and Kosovo (again) has really put us in a hard place where I dont think we will qualify for Qatar, I knew this was never going to be easy but some key points that for me could see a new coach. 1. Our best players are not playing and they are the CB's who play and have played at the highest level. Everyone knows the trio I am talking about, they also brought with them incredible experience which we dont have and that cost us today and I believe in other matches too (look at the last time we beat Kosovo) 2. Game management - very poor, I am actually surprised how badly JVS has managed games this campaign and always leaving subs way too late to make a real impact/change. Subbing Masouras off today... he was really the one creating space and chances. 3. Player selection, even outside of point one, what is the obsession with Stafylidis, the guy is not at NT team level and got injured again even at camp, he would have started today and when he didnt start, he starts Tsimikas at CB, watch the lead up to the penalty Mavropanos gave away, Tsimikas should have covered that off, Giannoulis lost at CB also in the Kosovo game and Harris Mavrias against Georgia... we never played a RB at RB, only Baka at CAM, Pavlidis over Douvikas... I can only see this issues continuing under JVS and for me we need to do better than this as he never learns from his mistakes. In saying that I wouldn't be totally disappointed if he stays on as I think he has a great rapport with the players and we are playing a better brand of football but a team like the Ethniki needs its best players out there and I dont see that happening with JVS.2 points

Just on this point, I agree Manolas and Siovas would have helped particularly today. But if we are talking about moving forward, Siovas is 33 and currently without a team, Sokratis is also 33. So going forward these 2 aren't really options for the Ethniki, Manolas is the only one who could potentially be around for Euro 2024 and even then he will be 33 by the time Euro 2024 kicks off. To put a positive spin on having these guys out, is that it has fast tracked Mavropanos and Chatzidiakos who would have ridden the bench during this campaign. Instead they have gained valuable experience and caps. So yes not having these guys has hurt our chances of qualifying for Qatar but I don't think it should necessarily be a criteria moving forward for keeping JVS or not, IMO.1 point

I agree 100%. If we want the best for the team then we need to play the best players possible. I’m sick of past coaches playing limited players. Santos did it with Vyntra and Katsouranis. Skibbe did it with Tziolis and Tzavellas and now JVS is doing it with Bakasetas and Stafylidis. I don’t think Skibbe is better. They are propably level. But I appreciate JVS in trusting some of our youth. I have mixed feelings. I don’t know if he should stay or go. If he goes then we’ll propably get someone similar to him. If he stays then who knows what will happen. Will he learn from his mistakes? He didn’t learn from the nations league.1 point

Although we mathematically are a chance to still qualify for the World Cup it's obviously going to be very tough from here. Reading the match-day topic it seems there are very mixed views on JVS, there always has been. I don't think it's possible to do in a post but I would be curious if we did a poll how many would want to keep and how many would want him gone post WC qualifiers. (Maybe one of the Moderators can help? @Blackhawk @Dutch Eagle) FWIW I would keep him, he hasn't been perfect but I think he has done a good job and has for large stints made us look like a modern footballing nation. He also has made the team much younger, most of the current guys in the squad are young enough except for 2-3 players, that they'll all be around for Euro 24 and WC 26. Not to mention Tzolis, Mavropanos, Pavlidis, Douvikas etc, guys who are just starting out and have 10+ years ahead of them. I think he deserves to take us into Euro 2024 qualifying, in a 24 team Euro I think he will get us there. Nations League will be important to secure a playoff spot just incase.1 point

I’m not saying Bakasetas should or shouldn’t be on the team, but guys are calling for in form players to play. He’s probably the best player or close to it in the Turkish league this year. So either you want to play in form players and then yell and s ram when they don’t play good, or you put players not in form and yell and scream about putting in form players on the pitch when they don’t play well. You can’t have it both ways. Pick one and stick with it.1 point

I’m just saying currently, a few players shouldn’t be there from the beginning like Bakasetas and Tzavellas and a few shouldn’t be starting like Bouchalakis and Giannoulis. The players I mentioned have had better from than others and most if not all are more talented footballers. Don’t get me wrong he has put in some good young players in but when you have a few obvious players that shouldn’t be there it handicaps the team from being at its best.1 point

Fortounis in his natural position, Manolas, Sokratis, Siovas, Fetfa, Ninis, Gianniotas, Fountas, Goutas, Kitsiou, Giannis Masouras and Kotsiras. Also Tzolis should be playing more instead of 5-10 minutes. Where’s Vasiliadis?? Tried so hard to get him. Alexandropoulos is our best CM in my opinion and doesn’t play. These are the players that should’ve been given first priority instead of Bakasetas, Tzavellas, Stafylidis, Poungouras, Bakakis and so on.1 point

Guys this was the best f***ing first half of soccer we’ve have played in years and we have all been advocating for a change in style of our traditional sitting back and forcing a counter and getting one or two chances a game. Like this is something we can build on, Sweden looked like a minnow in that first half and I truly believe if that penalty never occurred we win this game, we were shredding the Swedes they were hanging on and couldn’t even string two passes together as we were all over them. I criticized JVS after the Georgia and Kosovo games but man i’m giving him full marks tonight and I don’t care if thats an unpopular opinion in this forum. We keep saying myself included he’s fielding the wrong line up but honestly we don’t have a superstar scorer anywhere so he’s getting the guys to play as a team with speed and high pressure. I’ve been so negative about this team since after 2014 World Cup but this to me is a step in the right direction. We split with Sweden and we already took a point in Spain. I will tell you guys straight I would rather lose games playing like the way we did today than sitting back and watching the most boring lackadaisical soccer waiting for an opening to make a mistake so we can get one or two chances in the entire game. Also a healthy Fortounis will help us Immensely.1 point

Last thing we need is ANOTHER freaking coaching change1 point

Tough loss. Really gutted for the team, players and coach. Players put in 100% but 2 errors cost us. Dropping 4 points to Georgia Kosovo cost us. Chances are now slim, as we will have to beat Spain and Kosovo and hope that other results go our way.1 point

Nah but people complain when we play bad and win…1 point

We had Sweden in the first half no finish though. Imagine mitroglou on the end of some of those chances. Anyways not that impressed with Sweden they beat us because of our own doing and they didn’t deserve to beat Georgia early on in qualifying.1 point
