  1. This is has been one of the saddest days I've had in a long time. It feels like someone close to me died for some reason. I think it was because of how Pantelidi rose to fame and how his rise was during the time when I started really going out to clubs. Its almost as if I grew up with his music. I kind of felt like society was rough on him at times, for a self taught and self writing artist. RIP Panteli, thank you for the memories.

  2. You want to be a PAOK a fan? How about I just come to your house and kick you in the nuts and you go about your business.....That's kinda what it's like to be a PAOK fan.....except every day is a kick in the nuts.....and just when you think no one is going to show up to kick you in the nuts and all is safe, some guy with pointy steel toe cowboy boots shows up, and kicks you in the nuts again. Welcome aboard.

  5. I think we have several members here who are Barca fans, so we should have our own thread if you like. Otherwise I'll delete/lock this thread if there's no interest or you think we should keep one thread for all La Liga topics.

  10. You can't compare Christiano Ronaldo or Messi to Maradona and players of that era. 50% of the goals they score today would not have happened back in that era because they would have been "professionally" fouled before they got anywhere near the goal. And if they did happen to score, they'd probably get an elbow to the face and a few kicks on the knee as a reward. Maybe even the occasional knee reconstruction if the defender was feeling generous. The tackling was brutal. I can't remember who it was (I think it was Cabrini but not sure), but one of those butcher defenders back in the Seria A said something like "In Italy, the man can go past the defender, or the ball, but not both". You had to earn a goal back then. Go look at the top goal scorers and they would rarely get over 20 goals in a season. I'm not saying Maradona is better, or that Christiano Ronaldo or Messi are better, I'm just saying it's not right to compare, because they play in completely different environments.

  11. He can't though, only you or a mod could. The way you structured your post makes it look like Giourkas is saying what you wrote.

  17. Welcome, glad to have you. You chose a good team to follow; have you noticed yourself getting handsomer these past two years? NOT a coincidence.

  18. Barca is creative and Messi's penalty was for entertainment value since they were winning the game anyway. But, I think technically there was a violation since Suarez was not outside the box when Messi took the shot. In that case the ref could have ordered a repeat. But, regardless, it was a beauty. I just didn't know that Neymar was supposed to get it. I thought they planned to give Suarez the goal so he can advance as a top scorer in La Liga over Ronaldo. As to the other point, Barca is a complete team, and for me, it's pure joy to watch them play. They've been criticized for passing (or hiding) the ball too much, but it's a skill I appreciate, and at any point they can break ahead with lots of options as to where to pass the ball and how to attack. This is something that takes a long time to perfect. One of the reasons I became a Barca fan was its history, and its struggle against the fascist Franco, who was a huge fan of Real and tried to destroy Barca. But, it's been an attractive club for me over the years.
