Blackhawk Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Also with a tie at Lyon we will at least end up in the 9 - 16 position, which would mean that in the playoff game we will play the second leg at Toumba.
Dutch Eagle Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 Finishing 17th gives us 2,000 points in the ranking. A quick recap of this years EL League Phase: We did well with 4 opponents from the big 5 leagues. In comparison: Panathinaikos only got one. And they finished below us despite playing 5 opponents that are elminated. We only have two of those opponents. To be exact. We played #1 and #4. 4 teams from #9-#24. And 2 eliminated teams. Pana played #8. 2 teams from #9-#24. And the 5 formentioned elimated teams. The draw is tomorrow, btw.
Dutch Eagle Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 Celta again it is. First leg is on February 19th at Toumba. Return on February 26th away.
PaokCT Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Yea and if we advance we either face Lyon or Villa. Meanwhile PAO gets Plzen & then either Midjtylland or Betis.
Dutch Eagle Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 A pity we will miss Delias (2 yellows yesterday), Giakoumakis (3 yellows during the League Phase) and Lucescu (red) in our homegame. But they will play in Spain. And we can make three substitutions in our list. Thursday February 5th is the deadline.

Blackhawk Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Tough draw. We are definitively not the favorites to advance, but I don't think that is necessarily bad.
paokarag4 Posted Saturday at 12:52 AM Posted Saturday at 12:52 AM It will for sure be a tough tie. I guess Red Star was the "easier" potential opponent but that would have just about guaranteed fan clashes. As Dutch says, they are 3 big absences for the first leg. I wonder if Mythou or Jeremeff (I assume he'll be one of three added to the list along with Zaferis) will start the first leg. Obviously the game is a long way out, but early thoughts are also that Zaferis may start as the "10" with Ozdoev and Meite behind him in an attempt to keep our midfield packed and compact. Clearly form and availability will impact who is selected come Feb 19, and we do have a lot of football to play until the first leg.
pash Posted Saturday at 09:27 PM Posted Saturday at 09:27 PM I bet you're right about the "flooding the midfield" plan. They might have done it even if Konstantelias wasn't suspended (with him playing LW). This is the classic Lucescu fallback when he sees the threat. Hopefully Zafeiris will show his quality there.
