Maria Sakkari advanced to the second round in this years (The) Wimbledon (Championships). She won 6-3 6-4 against Katerina Siniakova from the Czech Republic.

She will face Kristyna Pliskova (also from the Czech Republic) in the second round.

Yes. Sets 6-7 6-4 6-4.

Next opponent: Johanna Konta (Great Britain, seeded 6th) or Donna Vekic (Croatia) who are currently playing in the third set (8-8 in games as there is no tie break in the final set).

Sakkari was eliminated from Konta 6-4, 6-1. I think she is making good progress.

She does. She is only 21.

She was nervous to be at that podium and had a lot of unforced errors.

Next year she will have improved as she will have an extra year experience compared with this year.

There is the U.S. Open coming up in August, she never made it out of the first round just like the French Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is seeded #31 and will face Frechman Grégoire Barrère in R1 of 2018.

Tsitsipas is clear favourite as his opponent is the current #192 .

Posted

Tsitsipas won 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 and 7-5.

In round 2 he will face American Jared Donaldson. The current #55 of the ATP.

Donaldson is a tricky match up, hopefully Stefano can get the better of him.

Waiting potentially in the 3rd round is the very dangerous and unseeded Wawrinka, who took out Dimitrov in the first round.

Match suspended due to rain, it will continue tomorrow morning. Tsitsipas is tied 4-4 in the 4th set, looking to close it out.

He's through in 5 sets!!

Onto the 3rd round for Tsitsipas, where he will have Italian qualifier Fabbiano, who took out Wawrinka in straight sets (2 tie breakers)

His side of the draw has opened up with Dimitrov being dumped out in the first round. 4th round very much within touching distance and then a potential match up with the big serving but not unbeatable Isner. One match at a time though I suppose

Tsitsipas won in straight sets! 6-1 6-4 6-3! I was looking at the bracket and the only threat in that group is Isner of the United States.

Tsitsipas was eliminated in the fourth round. Isner won 4-6, 6-7 and 6-7.

His best result in a Grand Slam sofar.

he did well, was always gonna be tough v Isner who is such a big and consistent server. Had one bad service game in the first set which allowed Isner to break and take out the set. Took him to 2 tiebreakers after that. No shame in his performance, he's had a brilliant run and there should be another nice little jump for him in the rankings. Hopefully he can carry this form into the US hardcourt season
