La Mendel
Perhaps for the World Cup but I am not talking just WC, in general and I certainly wouldn't expect Santos to have picked Charisteas or Kafes. Santos was big on the Kara, Kats and Tziolis midfield... hello! In fact, our midfield never featured these players in the big tournaments (Tziolis wasnt in the squad in 2012, in the WC he didnt play), and only rarely in the last two years of Santos' reign. The last time when both Katsouranis and Karagounis were in the starting 11 was possibly the match against Russia (Euro 2012). Santos usually played three midfielders, one of whom was many times Maniatis. Charisteas played in the first match of Santos against Serbia. Later he scored a goal against Georgia in our last preliminary match. Kafes was selected and played by Santos in 2010 in several qualifying matches but then he wasnt called up any more. J1078
^i don't know what sport you've been watching over the last decade? Yes we've been good and maybe overachieved in some areas, a good franchise and team that is good year after year that builds dynasties only are done one way and that is by introducing new young blood to play on a big stage with some veterans to gain experience and confidence and slowly over time you develop your young guys and start bringing them in and fading out the veterans and this needs to be done consistently to be a successful franchise and not to drift away and become a bottom feeder, I have respect for what Santos did as far as results but he did F*** us up for the future, you can't bring a young guy up for one game and then not call him up for another 5, you need to go through the growing pains with young guys, that's why he should have starting introducing them slowly to play with veterans, this is how all the successful teams do it. La Mendel
They were great at their peak, especially Karagounis and Katsouranis but far out still have nightmares of that trio at the tail end of their careers. In saying that, at least Karagounis never stopped giving his all right up until the end. Can't remember the exact stats but he ran something like 13 km's in his last game. Do you really think Tziolis should be selected in the squad after his mediocre season at PAOK? Why, sure. Maniatis and K. Papadopoulos are injured. Original 21
^^ I don't think he's seen Tziolis play at all this year... Or ever seen Kourbelis play or knows who he is... Anyone who supports Tziolis inclusion has a soccer IQ equivalent to a rock.

Rockafeller Skank
Who cares really if Tziolis is better than Kourbelis or if Giannou is better than Klaus? All of these names you mention are mediocre at best. our only good players are : Holebas,Stafylidis( i like him, plus he stole starter position from Amorabietta at fulham, he is not a nobody)Sokratis,K. Paps, Manolas, Torosidis (Roma can
Rockafeller Skank
Fix the thing that when posting something, it reboots but does not show that the comment has been posted. pash
Don't be ridiculous. How about for the love of the game? A win by us today will bring us to 4th place, 6 points behind Hungary. There is a very good chance they'll drop points in the three matches that will be played between today and the final match, vs us.

Nikitas
now our only hope beside us winning all matches is that hungary now have to drop at least 3 points against either romania or n. ireland or the faroe irelands and then offcourse us winning the last match against hungary. Rockafeller Skank
really had no hope here...hungary should have had 2-3 goals. a miracle half-volley by hungary...just like the miracle goal finland scored on us. a message to the finland fa - concentrate on hockey. what a hot, steaming pile of crap your side is. hideously bad. yeah and we should concentrate in basket, coz we drew those lads.
Rockafeller Skank
They ARE Abysmal. And yet we start to look at our players like they are rubbish. We were just unlucky in the whle run. we deserved a draw against romania at the beginning, and wins over Finland and Faroe Islands, we had chances in both game and one lucky goal the enemy. As for the draw, we could easily keep it and our players were exhausted by WC + team preperation. Its like "god" didnt want us to participate on this EURO. Do you really think Tziolis should be selected in the squad after his mediocre season at PAOK? These guys were great servants to the national side but were sadly used as scapegoats by the end of it. It's not their fault that they were used past their expiry dates. We were all crying out for new faces to enter the national set up, but once we saw what they had to offer, it was a rude awakening. I do see hope however but it doesn't come from looking at the national pool, in fact it's probably the worst it has been. The hope comes from a general decline in player quality all around europe and beyond. The difference between the middle tier sides and the once worst sides has become negligible. This is why you see the likes of lithuania and northand island achieving better results.
