thrylos
OK Olympiakos fans. Our forums have been very quiet lately. Let's get some discussion going. About 13 years ago when Bajevic took over he brought in a solid young nucleus and built OSFP into a powerhouse. I don't think Olympiakos needs a full on overhaul, but let's start somewhere. If you can only keep 16 players for the current roster who would they be?(Simply copy and paste and delete the names you don't want) OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: GOALTENDERS * Leonidas Panagopoulos * Pavol Kovac * Antonis Nikopolidis * Urko Pardo OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: DEFENDERS * Kyriakos Papadopoulos * Didier Domi * Olof Mellberg * Giorgos Galitsios * Michal Zewlakow * Raul Bravo * Avraam Papadopoulos * Leonardo * Tassos Pantos * Vassilis Torosidis OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: MIDFIELDERS * Ieroklis Stoltidis * Luciano Galletti * Oscar * Andreas Vasilogiannis * Ioannis Fetfatzidis * Jesus Datolo * Dudu Cearense * Enzo Maresca * Cristian Ledesma * Aristidis Soiledis * Giannis Papadopoulos * Giorgos Katsikogiannis OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: FORWARDS * Matt Derbyshire * Diogo * Jaouad Zaïri * Konstantinos Mitroglou * Giorgos Niklitsiotis * Lomana LuaLua Who would you like to bring in for next year? Irlandos
As someone who would like to see a bit of renewal with OSFP and a better European run, I'll submit the following: OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: GOALTENDERS chase them all away! Get someone else! OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: DEFENDERS * Olof Mellberg * Giorgos Galitsios * Michal Zewlakow * Vassilis Torosidis OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: MIDFIELDERS * Oscar * Dudu Cearense * Enzo Maresca * Diogo * Jaouad Zairi * Ioannis Fetfatzidis OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: FORWARDS * Matt Derbyshire * Konstantinos Mitroglou * Giorgos Niklitsiotis * Lomana LuaLua
cyberfish
Not an Olympiakos fan, but here is my 2 cents: OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: GOALTENDERS * (bring back Sifakis) <---- Make Aris an offer they can't refuse OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: DEFENDERS * Kyriakos Papadopoulos <---- Looked promising * Olof Mellberg <---- Need high level experience for a year or so * Giorgos Galitsios <---- Not really champion caliber player but would do * Avraam Papadopoulos <---- Good defender * Vassilis Torosidis <---- Best of the whole squad, but he is only a RB so hard to build team around him OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: MIDFIELDERS * Jesus Datolo <---- hard to tell from one game but give him some time. I suspect he'll be a gonner by this summer though. * Dudu Cearense <---- Not a bad player but he reminds me of Tziolis OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: FORWARDS * Matt Derbyshire <---- Not a bad player if he keeps scoring * Jaouad Zaïri <---- serviceable * Konstantinos Mitroglou <---- Second best on the current squad. Will turn into one of the top Greek strikers if he keeps working hard and keeps his focus. Who would you like to bring in for next year? Not sure about names. I don't think there is much in Greece to build a championship team. Panathinaikos has collected most of the talend out there. Maybe Scoco, maybe Itanz, maybe Salpigidis, but for sure bring some major midfielders and wingers. Sorry I can't come up with 16 worth keeping. I am not a big fan of "young is better" or "our own academy product is best". Of course young and academy products can be fantastic but they right players come once every five to ten years. The rest end up over-hyped and mediocre. It would take the right coach and a ton of money to bring in some real talent to turn this boat around. I am afraid Olympiakos is in for a long dry spell. It all starts with the coach though.

thrylos
Pretty pathetic that the only people that have responded are AEK and PAO fans. It seems our forums have gone silent since we fell behind in the league race and Ziko got fired
Euro2004
OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: GOALTENDERS * Antonis Nikopolidis OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: DEFENDERS * Kyriakos Papadopoulos * Olof Mellberg * Giorgos Galitsios * Michal Zewlakow * Raul Bravo * Avraam Papadopoulos * Vassilis Torosidis OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: MIDFIELDERS * Luciano Galletti * Jesus Datolo * Dudu Cearense * Giannis Papadopoulos OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: FORWARDS * Matt Derbyshire * Jaouad Zaïri * Konstantinos Mitroglou * Lomana LuaLua 16 is an unrealistic number because there are many youngsters that I rate and wouldn't get rid of if i was your manager, but with merely 16 players I'd have to, such as Soiledis for instance. So the above would be my 16. I would sign the following: Henri Camara (striker) - Currently at Sheff Utd and available on a free transfer at the end of the season. Martin Petrov (left winger or behind the front man) - Currently at Man City but is likely to be allowed to leave following the arrival of A.Johnson. Pay up to 8m euros for him because he'd take the league by storm. He would be THE BAM i'm certain of that. Sifakis (goalkeeper) - currently at Aris, or, Itanje (goalkeeper) - currently at Kavala on loan from Liverpool Aureillio (defender) - currently at Liverpool not getting much football despite being the best left back they have. BlueStriker
OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: GOALTENDERS *Need someone new (Sifakis?) OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: DEFENDERS * Kyriakos Papadopoulos * Olof Mellberg * Michal Zewlakow * Avraam Papadopoulos * Vassilis Torosidis OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: MIDFIELDERS * Luciano Galletti * Jesus Datolo * Dudu Cearense * Enzo Maresca * Cristian Ledesma * Giannis Papadopoulos * Giorgos Katsikogiannis OLYMPIAKOS SQUAD: FORWARDS * Matt Derbyshire * Jaouad Zaïri * Konstantinos Mitroglou * Lomana LuaLua This new OSFP better start busting their arses. 1-1 tie to Ergotelis, when they had a chance to tie PAO in points. I'm more concerned with getting into the Champions League than winning the "Super" League. It's gonna suck trying to get into the CL with this new setup. The main problem is that Socrates Trump doesn't believe in the word "STABILITY" and fires everyone for not being perfect. I think the team has solid individual talent, and the problem lies more with having a coach that can "build" a solid team with a system that all the players become familiar with and be on the same page when they're out on the field. As long as you fire coaches every semester, you're never gonna come close to reaching your potential. With the exception of having another left winger (Leto is a paixtara and should have stayed), this team looks pretty solid on paper. Also, Lua Lua should have never left. Suspend him, fine him, whatever, but no need to have ever let him go. We finally realize this mistake and bring him back half way into the season. Also, the injury situation has been dreadful this year, creating a very unstable team. I understand injuries happen to every team, but this is ridiculous! Does anyone else think we can benefit from investing more in quality physical trainers, personal trainers, and just a program in general that helps decrease the likelihood of acquiring injuries? Or is it just bad luck that we've acquired all these injuries? I don't know, perhaps someone here has more knowledge on what department or personnel are responsible for preventing injuries, and if this would make a significant impact on the health of the players.
