  1. While Fortounis might be good in SuperLeague, he has just been a total dud for the national team. Never flashes, makes the wrong play too often, never creates. That spot is a total disaster right now, and I think a big part of what has kept the attacks from becoming anywhere near threatening.
  2. http://www.espnfc.us/united-states/story/3269935/us-soccer-exploring-pre-world-cup-matches-with-netherlands-italy?sf170007682=1 LEIRIA, Portugal -- The U.S. Soccer Federation and Soccer United Marketing are looking into the possibility of hosting pre-World Cup matches involving the United States, Italy, Netherlands, Ghana and Chile, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC. Sources indicated that talks are in the exploratory stage, so it is unclear at the moment if an actual tournament will be held involving the above-mentioned teams or just a series of friendlies. Each of the teams mentioned failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Italy's failure to get past Sweden in a two-legged playoff saw them miss out on the World Cup for the first time since 1958.
  3. Totally disagree. Great move by the EPO. Skibbe has done a terrific job regrouping this team after the Euro qualifying disaster. He has the support of the players. That should count for a lot. Better days ahead...
  4. Btw, who should we continue to build around moving forward? Who are the 7-8 core guys for 2020 euro and 2022 World Cup?
  5. Firing Skibbe is not the answer. I think he actually did a terrific job steadying what had been a sinking ship. He seems to have a good feel for the way we need to play. It’s about developing pieces around our core group, particularly at midfield and on the wings. I have confidence that will happen under Skibbe moving forward.
  6. If Sokratis can't go, I could see Croatia wiping us out, 3-0. Things could unravel. We need to park the bus and hope for a dogfight
  7. Roma hoping to get Manolas back Nov. 5, which would give him a tune-up for the Croatia series. This article notes his desire to be back for the Greek playoffs: http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Serie-A/Roma/16-10-2017/roma-lesione-adduttore-manolas-out-3-4-settimane-2201361281464.shtml
  8. Two questions: What is the actual status of Manolas? And what are the two dates for the playoff?
  9. Looks like we dodged a bullet. Manolas only expected to be sidelined a week: https://extratimetalk.com/kostas-manolas-thigh-injury/
