  1. Baba would be a great signing and would slot in as a starter. The question I have is will Vierinha accept being relegated to 2nd choice left-back. At 35 it's clear he can't start and play 85% of games as a full-back he simply doesn't have the legs to get up and down the pitch for 90 mins. He still has quality and will be useful coming off the bench and pinch-hitting in games where we will boss possession, but I do worry about him starting in derbies(and in Europe hopefully) against good wingers.
  2. Not the best draw but definitely not the worst, Rijeka will be tougher than Hibernian IMO. Let's take care of business against Bohemians first.
  3. That was incredible, what a jump from Tentoglou!! Bravo agori mou
  4. We know why he's being let go, he causes problems and plenty of them. Let's not act like the guy is a saint, he's caused problems for multiple managers now. You don't just keep a player on the team no matter what, being a successful team requires there to be a good team culture. Warda has had enough chances, wish him all the best but I'm team Lucescu/PAOK on this decision.
  5. There is absolutely stuff we don't know about. Do we actually think Warda who has had multiple issues in the past which has resulted in multiple managers not wanting him has done nothing this time around? Sorry where there is smoke there is fire, he has a history of this sort of behaviour. Credit to Garcia who was able to get him onside and playing for him without any major fuss (we don't know what type of concessions Garcia was making for this to happen) It's a shame because as a few of you have pointed out he is a real difference maker, he is good enough to be a starter for us. But it seems he needs to play at a mid-lower table team where they will tolerate his antics and ego.
  6. We are well and truly into the silly season with all these rumours flying around. If Tzolis is sold we will need to sign at least 2 wingers, with Warda on his way out. Seems like Biseswar will be given a chance to prove himself under Lucesecu which would mean we are maybe only in the market for one winger.
  7. I guess the Dutch don't play football for 90 minutes, the ref blows the whistle at 88.45 😂🤷‍♂️ 1-2 win for us, a good hit out for our last friendly of the pre-season.
  8. I think we struggled to build up with the ball in that half. We had some good moments mainly from pressuring them high/their mistakes. Tzolis and Oliviera our most dangerous going forward IMO. Hopefully we get to see Kurtic in the 2nd half
  9. 10 of the 11 playing for Feyenoord played in their Conference League qualifier mid-week, so this 1st half will be a good test for us.
  10. Away goals in European competitions have been abolished as of this season. So a 1-0 win for AEK in the 2nd leg will result in extra time.
  11. Congratulations to him! Well deserved MVP and his team has done well to win a title as a "small market" team. This result will have shut a few mouths from pundits who have criticised his ability to perform in the playoffs. A little message from Gianni ahead of his return to Greece in a few days.
  12. With guys like El Kaddouri, Schwab, Vieirinha, Kagawa we have a lot of guys with a good football IQ who generally won't make cheap mistakes and retain possession, which is what we saw for the most part in that 1st half. Zivkovic, Tzolis (and Warda*) will add pace and directness and we will have a good balance. I've been impressed with Oliveira, can hold the ball and gets into good positions. Nice couple of goals for him and should have had an assist had Kagawa finished.
  13. Yeah Trabzonspor is the one to avoid, no one else scares me. If we can't beat Aberdeen or Hacken (the third team from Sweden) then we simply don't deserve to be in Europe this year. Avoid the Turks and we should be ok.
  14. Any hope of him continuing his revival has gone down the tube with this move. Can't really fault him, given his injuries it is a good opportunity for him to get a payday. Interesting to see if JVS still considers him, he became a main-stay at the heart of the Ethniki's defense in recent months. Not sure if this move will signal the end of that run.
  15. Well the moment many of us feared(especially @pash) has arrived.... Warda was kicked out of training by Lucescu. The report I read stated the Warda made a mistake on the ball and kicked another ball away in frustration, Lucescu confronted him and they started yelling at each other. It remains to be seen whether this is serious enough for it to be the end of Warda at PAOK (again) or if it will be something resolved inhouse and we move on. https://www.paok24.com/preseason/274205/adoxo-telos-stin-proponisi-gia-oyarnta/
  16. If it shows anything it's that it is pointless getting excited over players when they are so young. There is so much development that goes in those teenage years that plenty of guys simply don't translate to being senior footballers. Be it growth, ability, talent or just the other kids catching up and then going past them. It is quiet rare that someone hailed as the next superstar at 12 does indeed become a superstar, some become solid professionals but plenty become nothing special and in fact mediocre.
  17. Geez the Oliveira saga really has dragged on and for a player who I don't think anyone is overly thrilled to be getting. 3.3 million over three years is a huge amount of money, nothing I saw him do for AEK has convinced me he's worth that salary. But apparently Lucescu wants him and on the plus side he knows the Greek League so it shouldn't take him any time at all to settle in. Now for a midfielder and left back
  18. We only lost to Canada by 6 in the opening group stage match, but yes I agree the Czechs are an "easier" draw, while still being tricky. Amazing turn-around after the 1st quarter, we were awful early but really put them to the sword and looked a class above thereafter. 1 more to go!
  19. Yeah spotted Varela, Murg in the video and Schwab was in the Instagram story. So it would appear Augusto and Ninua where the two missing.
  20. Tsitsipas dumped out in the first round by Tiafoe in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. Perhaps not a massive shock, given his short turn around from Roland Garros, the fact he wasn't able to play a warm-up tournament on grass and the passing of his Yiayia recently. Today was his first match on grass since 2019 Wimbledon (also a 1st round loss) Still a disappointing result for him, Tiafoe played well and was very aggressive.
  21. Stuttgart have renewed their loan deal with Arsenal for Mavropanos for a further season. In the agreement there is an obligation to buy if Stuttgart remain in the Bundesliga, if they are relegated it will simply be an option to buy. Good move for him, he had a good 2nd half of the season when his body held up and was up to find his feet. Hopefully he has another good season. https://www.sport24.gr/football/stoytgkardi-epekteine-to-daneismo-toy-mayropanoy-gia-mia-akoma-sezon.9273721.html
  22. They have had zero quality or creativity going forward in that first half. Just overhitting crosses, the one time they put the ball down and played around Sweden's box they created a shot on target.
  23. We are into Alessandro Deiola from Cagliari, a 25 year old, 190cm tall central midfielder. We have offered 1 million, Cagliari want 2-2.5 million. For the moment we aren't budging on what we've offered. It is worth noting that Deiola only has 1 year left to run on his contract and he is represented by infamous player agent Mino Raiola.
  24. You think Swiderski, who isn't a lock to start every game with us, should be starting over Lewandowski who plays at Bayern Munich and has scored key goals in deciding titles and the Champions League? From what I saw the problem wasn't Lewandowski, the Poles couldn't get the ball to him with any quality what so ever.
