  1. Just looked around on some of the other games, Ireland beat Gilbratar 0-1. Italy beat finland 2-0 but Finland had the same number of shots on goal as Italy.
  2. Was impressed by Siovas/Kourbelis - not so much for their defending bc they didn't have much to defend (did their job when they had to) but their ability to bring the ball up and their passing was good. Masouras wasted so many chances but he's fast and got to the ball, eventually they will fall in. Bakesetas took one shot from far out and you could see the coach cursing at him. Overall, Greece did what they had to, Masouras/Donis on the wings give us potential to counter. You will be able to see their potential more with teams that attack. The one time we countered, they were so quick out there and brought the ball down the pitch so fast (we didn't score but still, you can see the potential).
  3. Saw this - Dimitris #Kolovetsios has been called up at the last second for @EthnikiOmada in the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Bosnia after #Sokratis #Papastathopoulos has been ruled out due to injury #Hellas #Ethniki Great, not a good feeling for the build up of this tourney...Regarding Fetfta, not sure if he is in form. He doesn't start for Aris and came in at the end of 4-0 game to score another. I think he has a lot of talent but he doesn't start for his club teams, makes you wonder.
  4. Vlaho was just rated the top gk in Portugal. Lambrou the top young talent in Holland...so there is hope..
  5. Manolas was injured but played in yesterday's CL game..
  6. Vroussai has been part of Greek national setup for years, born in Greece - if he feels Greek, let him represent Greece...Comparately, Giannis Antetokounmpo shouldn't play for our national team either...
  7. I believe OLY is doing that today, Tsimakis as left, Koutris at right. Let's see how they do.
  8. Still could start on a quite a few teams, he probably wanted security. He wasn't going to get another long term contract at this point of his career.
  9. The thing with Portugal is that they have a bigger TV market. They have a huge following in Brazil due to the language and many South Americans playing in Portugal. That is why they can commend more money from TV licensing.
  10. I think the training facility is dependent on the govn't approval which as we know...
  11. Just read that Holebas is contemplating returning to the ethniki. EPO reached out to him and he said he needs to think about it.
  12. While not a fan of the deal, the truth of the matter is the rest of the world already recognizes them as Macedonia. A deal had to be made. What is difficult is that their government keeps provoking Greece by referring to themselves as Macedonia. If the deal is carried out in its true spirit, then this would be a win and would only strengthen our borders and our standing in the world. If....
  13. He is almost single handedly raising the profile of tennis in Greece. As he gets better, so will he inspire other kids in Greece to take up the sport. Bravo to him!!
  14. Rumors that Manchester United want to buy him in the summer, with his release clause at around $36 million, quite a few teams will make a bid. Roma trying to offer him higher wages in exchange of getting rid of the release clause but they haven't agreed yet.
  15. I don't believe you need to defend the entire game but we don't have the players to do control the ball and attack. Renieri tried that and we got ripped apart. I believe Greece's strength is still their defense. What we need is some speed on the wings to open up the game when we have a chance to counter. A few players will change the entire complexion.
  16. https://toty.uefa.com/?int_ref=article - The want the public to pick the top 11 from a group of 50 they selected...
  17. Manolas was included in the UEFA top 50 players list...
  18. I do believe playing Donis will make a huge difference only because of his speed. Defensively, by and large we can agree that we are pretty solid (for the most part). Having a player being able to beat other players with speed will make all the difference.
  19. Zeca is the only current foreigner, Klonaridis has Greek lineage. Zeca though, I do respect. Speaks Greek well and loves the culture.
  20. This group is comparatively similar to the world cup qualifiers, when we were in a higher pot.
  21. RETSOS FACES ANOTHER LONG LAY-OFF Panagiotis Retsos faces a long time on the sidelines. The Greece international suffered a muscle and tendon injury in the back of his left thigh playing for Bayer 04 on Thursday night. Retsos was making his first appearance of the season in the Europa League match between the Werkself and Bulgarian champions Ludogorets (1-1). The 20-year-old had just completed a long period of rehabilitation following an injury to his right thigh. The medical section at Bayer 04, in discussion with Retsos, will determine the treatment required now at the start of next week.
  22. Retsos started his first game back from injury, got hurt in the 34th minute and had to be subbed out. Not sure how serious it was...
  23. To be fair, AEK have defended well and were competitive in all the matches. Having said that, AEK has looked like the worst team in the group. Management hasn't helped them at all with benching three starters a few days before the CL and never replacing the guys they lost. AEK were also unfortunately in a tough group. Bayern and Ajax look really good. Benfica look ok but AEK should/could have won that game.
