I think the first half of the season, we did well because the players were fresh and playing to their full potential. But even then Anastasiadis only used 13 to 14 core players in every game. We had no back up players. Once the injuries and fatigue stepped in we had no answers. The so-called "electro shock" by replacing the coach backfired as well. It probably made things worse.

I think you might be right. After today's win I also think it will end in 5 games. Lightning came out blazing in the first period and got a lucky bounce that went in, but Hawks really put on some pressure in the 2nd and 3rd periods and eventually got rewarded with some good plays by Teravainen, and some key saves by Crawford to keep the team in the game.

No money will fix anything if the PAOK organization does not plan things out. What good is it you bring in players such as Stoch, who tells the coach to F*** off, and the front office does not do anything about it. Same with Tzavellas, who attacked Anastasiadis, only to be benched for 2 months, and when the coach got sacked he was brought back in on the same day the coach left. Mathematically we still have a chance to finish in 2nd place, but nobody, including the players believe in it. This might be a good game to field a team with youngsters from the U20 team. Serraios if we finish in last place we will still play in Europe. The problem is we will have our first Europa League game in mid-July. There is just no way we can prepare for the upcoming season starting so early. We should probably make it to the group stage since we will be seeded in all of the draws, but there will be a lot of damage done starting so early.

I agree. We should go after core players in the 25-29 year old range. Then have older players (Rat, Salpi, etc) and youngsters (20 something) as subs. Another thought about Garcia just occurred to me. I would not be surprised if he takes over the coaching duties of the U20 team, now that Ivic is leaving for Veroia. The more I think about it, I believe that's what will happen.

Garcia is coming only to satisfy the fans and make them return to empty Toumba. He will probably take over the Iosifidis position on the team, although I would prefer that he (and Lino) act as scouters for talents from Uruguay and Brazil.

Only saw the first 10 minutes live, and then I was planning on watching the reply in the evening on Sport Plus. However from what I saw in those 10 minutes changed my mind and instead I watched a reply of last nights Blackhawks game against Anaheim. This team is self destructing right before our eyes. The whole PAOK organization is to blame for this with their poor planning. Starting rom the front office and ending with the fans. Some players know they won't be back, and it shows in their effort. For example Itandje who had a solid month or two has been very poor in the playoffs. He has realized that there is no future for him on the team. Even the goal of finishing 2nd and avoiding early European competition looks like a miracle at this point. I don't see how we can win our last two games in the playoffs. I don't even see how we can score any goals in those two games.

The team needs a major overhaul. We need good player transfers in goal/defense/midfield and offense. Specially in midfield. Lot of dead wood needs to go as well. Hopefully Arnesen has a solid plan and sticks to it.

Let's just win the cup and who cares if they call it a dynasty or not. Winning 3 cups in 5 years is a big accomplishment, considering that prior to that we have been cupless since 1961. GO Hawks.

The problem is the teams that don't get a license can still play in Superleague/Football League and collect TV money on top of that. The only punishment is that they are not allowed to make certain player transfers. The K17 team defeated Asteras Tripoli in the semifinals of the K17 Championship and qualified to the final, where we will face Olympiakos. The game will take place on Saturday at Agrinio.

Another team double this season. The men's handball team defeated Diomidis Argos 43:40 in double overtime and penalty shootout to claim the Greek championship to go along with the Greek Cup.

We are pretty much out concerning the first place, and I have much doubt that we will finish in 2nd place as well. If we lose to Panathinaikos on Sunday, we have two games against Atromitos (home) and Tripoli (away). We will need to win both games, which so far we proved that we can't. On top of that after Sunday Panathinaikos will mathematically clinch first place and will not play to win in their last two games. If we have any luck, I think we will end in 3rd place, although a 4th place would not surprise me.

Great move by Savvidis to hire Arnesen as Technical Director. He has all the qualifications a team would want in a TD. The big question is if he will be allowed to do the work he knows. He needs to be given time to build the team. Just hope that he will not be chased away like some other big names (Stephens). The chance of him becoming a tourist like Stephens or Boloni is quite possible. His first move is to find a new coach and than good players to start building the team. let's hope this is the start of better things to come.
