  1. Savvidis might have the patience, but I an guarantee you that the fans don't. Would not be surprised if by next May they will be calling for his head. Hopefully Savvidis has the balls to support him through the tough times.

  2. The problem is the teams that don't get a license can still play in Superleague/Football League and collect TV money on top of that. The only punishment is that they are not allowed to make certain player transfers. For example Panionios has been turning in a blank license application for the past 3 years and they are still in the Superleague.

  3. Another team double this season. The men's handball team defeated Diomidis Argos 43:40 in double overtime and penalty shootout to claim the Greek championship to go along with the Greek Cup.

  4. We are pretty much out concerning the first place, and I have much doubt that we will finish in 2nd place as well. If we lose to Panathinaikos on Sunday, we have two games against Atromitos (home) and Tripoli (away). We will need to win both games, which so far we proved that we can't. On top of that after Sunday Panathinaikos will mathematically clinch first place and will not play to win in their last two games. If we have any luck, I think we will end in 3rd place, although a 4th place would not surprise me.

Sunday we play Panathinaikos in Athens. On the line is the 2nd place of the playoffs, which leads to the group stage of Europa League. After the last game even that is in doubt considering the team can?t score.

  6. Great move by Savvidis to hire Arnesen as Technical Director. He has all the qualifications a team would want in a TD. The big question is if he will be allowed to do the work he knows. He needs to be given time to build the team. Just hope that he will  not be chased away like some other big names (Stephens). The chance of him becoming a tourist like Stephens or Boloni is quite possible.

His first move is to find a new coach and than good players to start building the team.  let's hope this is the start of better things to come.

The famous ?Litsas? game with very pro-Panathinaikos officiating. Litsas disallowed two clear PAOK goals and did no call a penalty on Kostikos. At the end of the game, when the score was 0:2, Litsas awards PAOK a penalty kick. The fans demand that Orfanos miss the penalty kick on purpose, and he does by kicking a weak shot to the middle of the goal straight to the goalie.

There is still a chance to claim the top spot in the playoffs, but for that to happen we need to win tomorrow and not lose at Leoforo on Sunday. Highly unlikely in my opinion. We need to focus and finishing second, which leads directly to the group stage of Europa League.
  8. Poor move by Savvidis. He needs to keep his mouth shut, hire professionals to run the team, and give financial support. He wasted 3 solid years with amateur moves.

And what does this even say about Georgiadis? He should have resigned following the game.

  9. Tiger has not spent a single dime on AEK. He didn't really had to. It will be interesting to see what he does now that they are back in Superleague. I also think that Savvidis will not blow the budget open. There might be a small increase, but nothing major. He just spent 11 mil covering the debt.

The thought that Lino might be coming back to PAOK, and that Garcia will probably be the next TD  points in that direction.

Need to win this game at any cost.

  11. I did not see the game, but from what they said on the radio, the goal was gifted to them by Itandje (an ex-Atromitos player). At least we were able to come back and tie it.

It's now important for us to win the next two home games against Tripoli and Panathinaikos if we want to keep any chances of finishing first.

  12.

it was not up to super-league to prosecute UEFA could have proceeded if there was enough evidence.

Superleague is the one that should initially investigate such accusations, since it's their own product that is on the line. However since all the decisions are made by Olympiakos with all the satellites, there was no way Superleague would go ahead implicating themselves.

The next step should be for EPO to step in and do their own investigation, but we know who controls them, and since UEFA would only step in if EPO asked for it, don't expect anything happening in such cases.

  13. Veroia was saved from elimination by the Supeleague disciplinary commission. Veroia was implicated in arranging a 3:0 loss to Olympiakos couple years ago. The coach at that time, Kalaitzidis (current Aris coach), Georgeas and Kafes testified that during hal-time the Veroia General Manager told the players that the owner of the team wants the game to end in a 3:0 loss. Well guess what the final score was? Now how you arrange a fix without the other team knowing is beyond me.

In any case the Superleague disciplinary commission claims that there was not enough evidence to proceed with the case making everybody happy. Veroia stays in SL, Olympiakos is not implicated, and unfortunately more people will decide not to watch Greek soccer as a result.

  14. 19 players travelled to Athens for the game.

    No Salpi, Papadopoulos, Konstantinidis, Golasa

    Possible lineup:

    ---------------- Itandje -------------------

    Skondras - Vitor - Costa - Rat

    -- Kace --- Tziolis --- Noboa --

    -- Pereyra -- Klaus -- Mak --

In my opinion it will be a defensive affair. We will need to contain Napoleoni and be careful with set pieces.

If we have any thought of winning this game, the offense needs to pick things up.

    I predict a 1:0 win with a Klaus goal.
