An hour and a half before kick off. It's going to be 11am in the UK and I'm stuck at work. My job means I'm meant to be keeping an eye on the output of TV channels but instead I'm going to be watching a crappy stream of the game probably broadcast by some Australian teenage mulleted Bogan recording the TV on his iphone 4. Living the dream.

They host American football matches (or Football to Americans), sometimes a week before Internationals at Wembley. I guess all over Football Associations are trying to squeeze the last drop of money out of venues. -

It sounds Of course I know who the socceroos are, but it sounds like a name a child would make up and a lot of people outside of Australia probably wouldn't know who it is. People coming here want to see when the game is, where it is and who the opponents are. Not have to trawl through 16 pages to discover that. Hence why the thread would be better if it were: Australia vs Greece June ? (Providing the game is being held in Australia). -

Any chance we can start a new thread that says who we're playing against and when? Dunno who the Socceroos are. -
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos ‒ (Retired)

No but I remember Karnezis in the penalty shoot out with Costa Rica. Putting a corpse in goal would have been more beneficial. -

Nice article. Also Dimi hasn't had his chance! He's had one call up against Malta, which the team won 3-1. His time at AEK and AEK's failings cannot be lumped onto his shoulders. If I recall AEK were in a shambolic state and weren't even able to pay it's players! So much BS flying around its astounding. -

No but I can see the utter disarray my beloved national team is in and any slight glimmer of help they can get they should take it! Karnezis is not the answer the guy is woeful. -

He's 37 not 90! David Seaman was playing for Man City at 40, Peter Schmeichel was 39 and still playing top flight, Brad Friedel was ever present for Tottenham in 2012 at the age of 42, Mark Schwarzer is still going for Leicester City at 43! As said previously keepers careers tend to go on longer than outfield players. -

Wow can't believe so many are so quick to write him off! Especially considering the crap we have in goal at National team level. Most of our keepers couldn't even catch a cold! -

The game finished 1-1. Middlesborough are promoted to the Premier League! Fittingly the last touch of the game was Dimi's when he caught a a dangerous looking cross. Just seconds later he was mobbed by thousands of adoring fans. I don't think Skibbe can ignore him anymore. -

The game is 1-1 with 30 minutes to go. A Brighton player (Stephens) just scored seconds before I tuned into the stream then was promptly sent off for a horrible challenge on Rameirez that caused him to be stretchered off. -

Boro drew their second from last game 2-2 against Birmingham. Dimi could have done better for the first goal but couldn't do to much with the second. Highlights: https://youtu.be/GpD51zYQcis Middlesborough had a winning goal wrongly ruled out for offside and now need to win their last game against Brighton to guarantee automatic promotion into the Premiership. Talk about tense! -

Well two draws on the trot mean that Middlesborough have dropped to third (one clean sheet for Dimi). However they still have a game in hand over the top two, which if they win will mean automatic promotion to the premier league. Last two home games are Birmingham Away and Brighton at home. Brighton are currently second! I hope to god they don't throw it away again, as they did last season in the playoff final. -

He's good at saving penalties too, shame he wasn't playing against Costa Rica. -

Another clean sheet for Dimi. Keeping pressure on league leaders Burnley. Hopefully Middlesborough get in the automatic promotion spot. As they lost out in the playoffs last season. -

A clean sheet for Konstantopoulos, in his team's 3-0 win against Huddersfield. His team are now one point behind the league leaders, with a game in hand. -

Suggested Call Ups, Starting 11
Chris Tsamados replied to Original 21's topic in Greek National Teams
I think Dimitrios Konstantopolous should get a call up. Yes he's old at 37, but keepers careers can go on until their 40's. This blurb is from wikipedia: In 24 league matches this season he has kept 15 clean sheets and eight in a row. Additionally he succeeded to have 9 clean sheets in home games and in 13 home games so far had only received 2 goals. [57] On 18 February 2016, on a report written by Jonathon Taylor, Konstantopoulos having conceded only 16 goals in 30 league games to date, he is on course to become the most successful goalkeeper in more than 100 Boro campaigns. Dimi has kept 17 clean sheets already this season, four more than Bayern Munich No 1 Manuel Neuer and five more than Arsenal stopper Petr Cech. He was part of the record-breaking Boro rearguard who racked up nine consecutive league clean sheets, smashing a 30-year club milestone. [58]
