And we sit here whining about football. Good lord, ha ha. Having a gradual population reduction is the ideal scenario, but how to implement it is another matter. It would be complicated to get it right. For the very poor having large families is almost necessary since their child mortality is so high. For some it would be considered a massive invasion of liberty. Good luck getting bible belters to agree when they have been instructed to go forth and multiply. It's funny that God (or the guy impersonating him) didn't think to have a clause in there saying maybe when we should slow down. Some nations will just baulk at the idea and others would use it as a bargaining tool. I hate to say it but I think the most practical way would be to incentivize with cold hard dollars. Then there is the question of if "x" is the target, how is it made up per country ? What if a certain country just doesn't want to comply. Then there is the economic cost. Business LOVES growth. Our economic way of thinking would have to change. I always smile when I hear people saying "who is going to pay for MY pension when I get older". Yep, cool, that's your biggest worry ha ha. Still, it's something that needs to be discussed so that people can start at least thinking about it.

The problem, the elephant in the room is always population and yet it's hardly discussed. It's the stuff of nightmares for economists and politicians who are fixated and addicted to the concept of perpetual growth. Enough to make the blood drain from their faces. Before technology, I'm talking even before the Agricultural Revolution, the population of humans could only get so big. Humans roamed where they roamed and required a certain amount of space just to survive. A small group of people, say 100, could require many square kilometres of land just to find sufficent food. But the Agricultural Revolution changed everything. Technology allowed the population of the human species to grow far beyond what it would without it. And since then each technological leap has allowed for an increase in numbers. This is sustainable, in a sense, but at a cost to the environment. There are only so many square kilometres of decent agricultural land, only so many fish in the sea, only so much of everything and that is just one problem. The other problem is limiting damage to the environment. Just imagine, 7 billion people every day need to eat! That's a lot of food, and even so, the damage we cause now is lessened by the fact that the standard of living for the majority of the 7 billion is quite low. As to what should be done, that is an extremely tricky question.

Nai, when your away record is 3-7-3 the championship should be yours. I want whatever drug they're on.

I wouldn't be pronouncing the demise of Olympiakos just yet. They sold Milivojevic and Ideye for 24 million euros. If they spend even half that on transfers, they will have spent more than PAO, AEK and PAOK combined. In their current state Olympiakos would not be a guarantee to win the league but I doubt they will look the same next season.

Tin mana sou Savvidi.

Aklautoi ? Do you need to be a member ?

lol ... 4 balls ha ha. What nitwits.

Only in Greece. Just when you thought it couldn't be any worse.
-
Not surprising based on what I saw of the first game. Besiktas had general control of the game in Athens. This was always going to be an uphill battle once Milivojevic and Ideye were sold.

They went to get a frappe. Be back soon.

Terrible news. We finally looked like having a half decent striker and now he's likely out for the season. I would like to know what gods Klaus made a sacrifice to. Looks like a Klaus/Koulouris combo for the rest of the season. The opposition are quaking in their boots.

Yes I know we are just as guilty in the past. It still doesn't justify the transfer of Rodrigues. A 5 minute google search would've told the club Galatasaray were already having financial problems. Obviously the club knew this but did it anyway. What is the procedure now ? How long does Galatasaray have to pay ?
-
I almost laugh at how transfers are done. You hand a player over without payment ?!?! Really ?!?! Man, I'd love to do business with these guys. Wink wink, sure champ, hand over ownership to me and I'll pay you ... when I get around to it. Kind of busy now, see ya! In a way, I hope Galatasaray doesn't give us any money and keeps dicking us around. That will hopefully teach Savvidis to stop these kind of "transfers". No money no honey. Proof of funds mofo, otherwise go to the two dollar shop. No 50%, 10%, 25%, 100% now. When the money is in the account, you can then sign the player over. If anything, the entire transfer with Rodrigues should've been nipped in the bud right at the beginning, with a press release from PAOK saying Galatasaray would like to buy the player, but unfortunately they are having financial issues and can't afford the player. Should've mocked them. Instead they are mocking us.

I am confident the manager you would like does not exist. A proven manager, who is in his prime now (not a has been like Huub) will not come to the GSL no matter what we offer. It's the same for finding players as well. We can only get players of a certain "type" and have to roll the dice and hope they work out. This idea of just spend and they will come. Who will come ? Would you go to the GSL if you were playing in the Serie A for example ? Sure, maybe if you were 33 and weren't getting any more games. I would rather stick with Ivic who seems to (at this stage anyway) be adaptable (read learn from errors) and as paokarag4 said doesn't have an ego. The team is playing decent football. It's rare we get thoroughly outplayed. It took a team of the calibre of Schalke to give us a real football lesson. Even this heavy defeat to AEK, everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Sometimes the players just f--k s--t up. Was it Ivic's tactics to blame that we conceded a goal in the 1st minute ? Or did Ivic instruct Maleza to get a stupid red card ? Having said that, we didn't deserve a point from this game either. Another thing, I don't know if it's Lubos or Ivic or both or someone else, but with the players they brought in this season, there were a lot more "hits" than misses. Matos, Varela, Crespo, Canas all pretty good transfers all things considered. Shakhov, Biseswar decent and seem to be finding their level. Campos fair enough doesn't seem good enough. Henrique, Warda, Prijovic seem promising. I have seen a lot more "misses" in the past seasons.
-
I must have missed the countless posts. But back to the more important question, who to replace Ivic with (that will also come to the club) ?
-
Criticism of Ivic is fine. But I haven't read any criticism from you. Just whining. Look around the landscape. PAOK fans are the master bashers. Bodies littered everywhere. A new manager every year. Seriously, who should PAOK be trying to get ? It's the 14th "best" league in Europe and getting worse year on year. Where is this imaginary super manager you want and how will you get him to come to Greece and PAOK ? If it was as simple as dollars, it would've happened by now.
-
Wow, sounds like we copped a good old fashioned beat down. Was the midfield duo of Cimirot and Shakhov not able to deal with AEK's midfield ?
-
We tried for Mourinho but his demand for 1000 kg of olives that are only picked by virgins couldn't be fulfilled. We were unable to find enough virgins.
-
I expect a dour game with lots of yellow cards.
-
Of note, Crespo at left back. Kace coming on as a sub. Biseswar not even playing at all. Ivic is unpredictable to say the least ... which is probably a good thing.
-
I can't seem to find my tin foil hat.
-
Oooh, highlights. Thanks pash.
-
I'm happy with Prijovic so far. 7 goals and he doesn't even play 90 minutes. By my calculations, Klaus would take till the 2020 season to score this many.
-
I'd go Djalma -- Biseswar -- Henrique behind Prijovic. Not sure how Warda will cope in such a big game. Djalma had a good game last time against Olympiakos. And having Mystakidis and Warda on the bench just in case isn't so bad. Canas is key. Hopefully he can play and his match fitness is all right.
