Rinus Israël died today at the age of 83. Our former trainer in the 1988/1989 season was capped 47 times for the Dutch National team and was captain of the first Dutch club (Feyenoord!) to win the European Cup (predecessor of the Champions League) scoring a goal in the final and after that winner of the World Cup for teams (old style). He was a ruthless centre back with the nickname Iron Rinus and alongside Theo "The Tank" Lazeroms they litterally demolished many many CF's. He stated he would not be on the pitch after 90 minutes these days with that thing called VAR.2 points

Team has announced Pavlenka's extension, through June 2027. Giorgos Lagonidis (from our B team, CB) will shortly be a free agent and has been announced by Volos as their newest poached signing. I believe I saw a blurb about Chatsidis (who was promoted to our B team in January, playing ST) being extended as well. I have a feeling Mythou (who was scoring for fun all last season) will find himself in our senior team as an unused third option as well. Mythou, btw, is 18 while Chatsidis is 19. -edit- late breaking news (on instagram, ew) that Meite has agreed to our latest offer and will be signing with us again. Is it really possible we'd have a signing and two renewals completed before day 1 of training? -edit again- even more late breaking news that we have a "verbal agreement" with Greg Taylor https://inpaok.com/866905/ektakto-proforiki-symfonia-me-teilor/2 points

I guess the good news from yesterday's draw (2nd qualifying round for CL) is that we cannot be drawn against Rangers if they lose, because they are playing Panathinaikos. That's a good one to skip.2 points

Hahaha that's an incredible range tbh. My money is on the higher end, but if he looks like the next Zivkovic than make it rain, Ivan!1 point

Luka Ivanusec is in Thessaloniki in order to sigh with PAOK the 1-year loan from Feyenoord. No official word on the purchase option, but various "Uncle Mitsoses" on radio were throwing around figures between 2.5 - 5 mil.1 point

Squad traveling to Holland for the pre-season training: You can also add Ivanusec to the list.1 point

I'm seeing that Douglas Augusto's transfer has finally gone through, for 6.5mm, so we get that 1.3mm from our resale clause.1 point

Blackhawk's favorite site is saying the team is pivoting from trying to buy bad players like Cheddira and is trying to actually spend money, on players like Neal Maupay (from Marseille). That one seems like it's particularly nonsense, as Marseille only bought him like a week ago from Everton. He also doesn't seem that great, records-wise.1 point

Albacete's starting LB last season was 37, and is now a free agent. They also have no other "pure" LBs on the roster. This kid is going to play at least 40 games.1 point

In 2153 one travels by UFO or FO ..... On a serious note: looks like Mystakidis will sponsor (?) 250M for the new Toumba.1 point

I think it was due to flares or something thrown in one of the last games of the season. But I don't blame you, feels like a million years ago. Not a great game to have this penalty for, as I'm sure AEL still hates us and will play hard.1 point

Supposedly we just got Croatian midfielder Luca Ivanusec on loan from Feyenoord.1 point

He comes to Greece every summer. Usually to his resort in Halkidiki. However this time it is reported that he will be in Thessaloniki on Thursday.1 point

Agreed. Teams don't let their best players just walk. We've got a beggar's mentality over here. Hopefully Shola and Pelkas have career-defining seasons this year. Only way we'll be able to make an impact, as things stand.1 point

We will only be linked to free agents ! Too cheap to actually make a legit bid and get a good player from a team1 point

This morning I saw PAOK Today claiming the 5 million and 1.5mm as a bonus. Didn't see anything about a resale (though I'd love it if that's true). Ultimately a fair if unremarkable price for him, particularly after a meh season. To those who will complain: he very obviously did not want to be here any more. Sergio Pena's deal was for 300k and up to 150k in additional bonuses depending on his performance (appearances), according to inPAOK. So we lose a little bit of money upfront, but might make a tiny profit when all is said and done. -edit- inPAOK is also quoting the 15% resale on Kotarski, which I am very much a fan of. -edit again- same site reporting we might be linked with Vasco Santos, who is a free agent defensive midfielder who just left Porto's U19 as a free agent. My guess is that if we get him, it would be a B team signing. https://www.transfermarkt.us/vasco-santos/profil/spieler/8014531 point

From what I heard from my own trusty uncle Mitso the team has set aside upto 2 mil for a striker's salary and additional sum for a possible purchase price. Apparently there are two strikers we are talking to right now and the goal is to sign one of them by the time the team leaves for Holland.1 point

Opponents for PAOK B: ΠΟΤ a.k.a. fake Ηρακλής, ΠΑΣ Γιάννινα, Μακεδονικός, Καμπανιακός, Νίκη Βόλου, Αναγέννηση Καρδίτσας, Καβάλα, Νέστος Χρυσούπολης , Asteras Aktor B. Lamia was initially also amongst the opponents but they withdrew from SL 2.1 point

InPAOK is saying the three strikers I mentioned up above are all no-gos. https://inpaok.com/867474/kataligei-se-for-o-paok/ Puttering around the advanced search options in transfermarkt gives....well, a lot of options. The only ones that look like they've seen action in several leagues are...well, Vinicius and Petkovic, who are implied not to be on the list. I don't get, though, why 6 million euros are too much for a player. Since when are we that poor? Why are we nickel and diming this transfer period? Super unimpressive tbh...1 point

Out of all the strikers rumored this summer, Jovic is the one I would go with.1 point

Great day for Greece. After 3 days we are above the relegation zone. I think we erased the 16 points we lost from Karalis with some great efforts by our athletes today. Tomorrow if our athletes can stay close to their seasons best we should be able to stay in the top division.1 point

The Amateur PAOK (or AC PAOK) is the arm that runs the amateur teams and sports under the PAOK umbrella. They own the name PAOK. They also own the stadium and the land that the stadium stands on. The professional teams of PAOK (football and basketball) are run separately by their owners, but by law AC PAOK has a 10% ownership in those teams. Those teams pay AC PAOK fees to use the name as well as the stadiums (Toumba for football and the PAOK Sports Arena for basketball).1 point

George Franks has Greek ancestry. His Greek name is George Frakgogiannis. I believe his grandfather was born in Greece an immigrated to the US. I really like the fact that we seek athletes from other countries with Greek ancestries and welcome them to compete for Greece. What I don't like are athletes that are bought up by other countries to change their nationalities. Latest example is several high class Jamaican athletes switching to compete for Turkey.1 point

Ozdoyev may have his suitor after all: https://inpaok.com/865977/symfonise-me-kotsaelispor-o-ozntoef/ This team just won promotion to the Turkish Superlig. No word on price (or if they've even been in contact with PAOK yet) but I'm guessing we'd have to release him as his contract automatically renewed. Also saw, in passing, that we may want our flowery friend from Levadiakos as our next RB, which I am very doubtful of. https://www.transfermarkt.com/triantafyllos-tsapras/profil/spieler/6235611 point

Looks like PAOK's Superleague home games will remain on Novasports for the upcoming season. Apparently we are close to signing a deal for 12 mil. It's not sure if the deal is directly with Novasport, or if we are signing with this new company Percapita, which in turn sells the rights to Novasports.0 points
