  4. Good for him and Wolfsburg. I've been following the Wolfsburg games on Fox Sports most of the season and he has been playing that position for at least 1 season now.

  7. Samaris came on 90th minute, but made a timely defensive play in his short stint. Mitroglou had some flashes, but was well isolated by the Bayern defense through the most part.

  8. I agree with go bekli last comment.... I strongly believe Modern Greece has done quite well.....if one looks at the 18th or 19th century as a starting point.... a lot of 'what was lost' and 'what should/could have been' is based on romantic misconceptions...If one takes the view that '1453' was unavoidable then we have done well.. the question that can't be answered is what if 1453 did not happen?? my answer is blind and unfounded.....well look at Spain? Italy? Portugal? just as possible examples...

  9. Tomorrow, EPO will hear two appeals concerning PAOK. PAOK has filed an appeal concerning the punishment for the Olympiakos cup game. The hope is that the 5 point deduction becomes only 3 points. Considering that for similar fan violence, Panathinaikos and AEK received only 3 points deduction. There is a chance that the initial 5 point deduction is cut to 3 points. The second appeal was filed by an EPO prosecutor against the original EPO decision to give PAOK 2 game ban for flares being lit in the PAOK cup games against Kalloni and Panionios. Since no other team was punished for the same issue this season, the prosecutor found it necessary to re-visit this decision. There is a good chance that the 2 game ban will be overturned. We should know the results of these appeals no later than this coming Friday.

  10. Tsipras and Greece madi it to the Financial Times. The opening paragraphs can be read below: I wonder how many would agree with the sentence in bold (Once again, he is displaying an instinct for short-term political gain and a disregard for his country?s long-term interests; the bold formatting was added by me). I should add that Alavanos said something similar about Tsipras (Mega, 26/8/2015). Namely,

  12. The question is not who, if any, is stunned. The question is who, if any, can use it and profit. Obviously, the Greek government thinks it can use it and profit. It will be interesting to see if the the Germany will react and if so, how. My overall impression is that the Greek government tried to use it clumsily. Unless its purpose is to blame the IMF for its own failures. Apparently, if elections were were held today, ND would receive more votes than SYRIZA.
