I'm not going to start copying and pasting what I see on wiki, but it looks like we are very likely to have a remarkably straightforward path to at least the play offs. I can't tell you how happy it makes me that Benfica is going through the League Path, and no Ajax in sight. We learn our opponents on 19 June. It would be just like us to get knocked out in that first tie, of course.

We guaranteed to be seeded all the way to the playoff round in all 3 competitions. If we progress from QR2 in CL we are guaranteed League Stage in Conference League. If we progress from QR3 in CL we are guaranteed League Stage in Europa League.

This summer can turn our team into one to contend for Champions League and Superleague titles for years to come. I think one reason why a lot of us were upset during the past few summer windows is there was no clear path. We were frugal when it came to transfers. With our young talent, the $ we will get by offloading players, and the $ from UCL there is NO reason why we can't bring in 4-5 players who will immediately be top 10% in the league. If we do that, we can have a run like Olympiakos did where the league is ours for the foreseeable future. I think we need a top level international CB. Look at years past, we have had Varela, Ingasson, Vitor (Israel), Malezas, Ricardo Costa, etc... who have all played international tournaments. I assume we will lose Koulierakis. And Michailidis didn't look solid enough for a UCL starter yesterday. I would try and keep Kedziora, but if he goes we will need 2. For CM, looks like Misic is coming. I think if we have a group of Misic, Meite, Ozdoev, Tsiggaras, Schwab that is enough. Obviously we need a proper striker. A true CF who can score anytime they touch the ball. Brandon will be a good backup. Loan out or release Samatta and have Tzimas as the 3rd option. Lastly, I would get one more winger. A true speed merchant who can dominate lesser opponents in the SL. I would even take a flier and sign someone 18-20 who will be cheaper but perhaps we can mold him into a Konstantelias type player.

Last year it was Douvikas. Now Pavlidis is this season's Eredivisie top scorer (joint with Luuk de Jong of PSV) with 29 goals. He is the 4th Greek to be the top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie. AZ qualified for next years EL LS. And this probably was his last match/year at the club from Alkmaar.

Unexpected my ass, I honestly thought we'd win it from the beginning ? This is going to be one to savor for a while. It really should not have gone down to the last game; we made this harder on ourselves than we should have. I really hope Lucescu doesn't suddenly get an unbelievable offer that makes him leave again. The team can definitely plug the holes that exist, replace some expiring contracts, and be even better next year. Also - what a job by Lucescu. He dragged them kicking and screaming to one of the most impressive seasons the club has ever had, with a team that was weirdly flawed from the beginning.

I think Meite is pretty good! He solves almost all of the issues we had with players like Esiti - Meite can legitimately control the ball and attack. It's just the speed that he lacks. Which is kind of inevitable when you're a huge dude...

He should have taken it seeing how obsessed he is with Ireland recently. They were apparently willing to give Poyet a 5yr contract? He did some positive things for Greece but he was unable to beat Georgia after having months to prepare for this fixture. It is a huge failure, the most disappointing loss I can ever remember since watching the Ethniki. Exo Poyet!
