  1. Cool story gdkmangosalsa. Speaking of pizza. For you Boston area based PAOKtzides, if you're in the Cranston, RI area and have a taste for a good pizza, I recommend Basil's Pizza. Tell them you're PAOK fans from the Phantis PAOK Forum and they will take care you. Ask for Vasili. B)

  2. something fantastic happened to me yesterday. i went with a couple friends to this pizza place around the corner from our apartment to grab some lunch before watching tottenham-everton. we go in there and put our orders in and i jokingly ask one of my friends (lebanese descent) if he knows the people who own the place, since his family also have pizza places and he seems to know a lot of restaurant owners. he says he doesn't know these people, but he later adds that he thinks they're greek. i look at the guy behind the counter and i think to myself, yeah, i could see it. but when the lady working there announces that a vedzie (veggie) slice is ready for pickup, there could be no doubts. interestingly, before i or my friends even said anything, the boss of the place comes over and tells us he's going to give us free pizza. alright! anyway, when the food was ready and we go to pay, my friend asks what nationality they are and sure enough they're greeks. i start talking to the guy there and when he hears my mom was born in thessaloniki he immediately asks which team i support. my life is on the line here, i realized, but of course i told him PAOK. he immediately reaches under the counter and produces a fantastic scarf (BLACK HELL one) that he gave to me. my two buddies and i also walked out of there with a free pizza on top of whatever food we had all already ordered. the guy's name was stathi, seems like a good fellow and absolutely a PAOK fanatic.

  7. I think we are changing transfer strategy. Before we used to acquire players that score on us in European competitions. Now we are going to be loaning players to teams so they can score on us. :D

  8. Just so we're on the same pages, here is my summary of this off-season. Point out where I may be wrong: So Ivan said he has given Arnesen $25-$30M Euros for transfers, and after paying everyone to leave, we brought in a bunch of cheap nobodies and a goalie who is worse than all 3 goalies we had last year, not including Jakobo who was on loan, with the hope of building in the future, we got outbid and slapped in the face in regards to a striker on more than 3 occasions, we have no solutions to the gaping holes in defense. We are once again in a rebuilding year with a coach who only has coached about 40 matches professioinally, who has the players working hard on tactics/physical conditioning (like every other coach in the past....if I read "

  10. Original sydney I never said for meli to splash out the cash, and I actually mentioned about we need to be very careful with how we spend our money. Because we could easily get into debt again. But to at least spend some money on players, because buying free agents and also not willing to offer them contract over 400K isn't going to compete for the league. Btw I have a lot of respect for meli for what he has done, and they way he is running us is amazing and the players we have brought in have been great and we havent spent any money on them and they are on good contracts. We have targeted the correct players and I respect the work meli and milovanovic have done. But he is probably in the top 5 five richest people in greece, and this stock exchange thing, i'm sure they allow us to spend at least 2 mil on transfers? We are looking for a striker, Orlando sa was a great striker, but we werent willing to spend 1.5 mil for him and thats why we didn't get him, players like this make the difference and could have been the striker to push us to compete in the league. Anyway here is an article that says a bit about him wanted to win the league on the first season back, i remeber reading a more specific article but this also shows http://www.sport24.gr/football/omades/Aek/thelei-prwtathlhma-o-melissanidhs.3337866.html

  11. I think that is one of the bigger problems facing Arnesen and Tudor. Add to the mix the sleazy Thessaloniki sports radio stations and press with agendas, and you have a recipe for disaster. I only hope that Savvidis comes out and says, no matter what the results are, this year we are starting to rebuild the team and Arnesen and Tudor are not going anywhere.

  13. Fortounis gives me more confidence atm. Ninis is so inconsistent. You can tell that Fortounis leveled up this season. It's not just form.

  15. To be honest, I kind of expected this. We all got way over excited about a 5-0 win over Brondby who practically let us walk through their defense. If this team wants to be champions, you can not be copping 3 goals against such weak and minor teams. This is the main way the Gavroi win, capitalise those crummy away wins and collect the 3 points, however all we do is blow them away and see ourselves slowly falling down the ladder. I'm just upset because we have had a bad start.

  20. Very rich coming from a gavro to be talking about shady presidents. Yeah Mel is dirty and shady but Marinakis no, he's an angel and the gandi of greek football.........The stadium will create hundreds of jobs and improve the general area of Nea Filadelphia, make it a tourist attraction and generate some sort of life into the place instead of the ghost town it is now.
