evalagoal
This is something that's going to take time just like MLS is over here in the states. The reason that I think that is because soccer in Australia isn't as strong as the Aussie Football or Rugby. It will take time but I think with the great mixture of races and cultures there, it will be a great League in about 10-12 yrs.

Original Melbourne 21
Olympic didnt deserve a team....quite simple. They had nothing going for them. Crowd averages of less than 2.000.....no home ground (shifting every year or two)....South on the other hand deserved to be in there based on what it had and based on the fact OTHER KREATA are still in the league. In saying that, I couldnt care if it fails or not as a competition, without my side, they can stick it.
panatha_boy
Fellow greek aussies. honestly i have a feeling that this A-league thing will work, but not right away. this league will take time to blend in with other leagues. if we reach to a higher standard of football, say in 3-4 years, to level such as in Japan, then from there on it will be a great succes. but of course, first they have to reach that stage. i think that australian football will not reach the high class of the EPL or La Liga or Serie A (just to name a few), but if it gets good enough, we might actually attract some good names in. so far, from what i can remember, dwight yorke was talking with sydney. woohoo <_< (not). hes just going to try and promote the A-league, like rivaldo and olympiakos. whats this business of trying to bring in kewell and viduka... :nono: it aint going to happen

Anyways i think it will grow and in a couple of years we'll see Olympic and Souths back where they belong :gr:
panatha_boy
On the topic of crowds. all teams should, i repeat should get a reasonable crowd for their first 2 home games. but if fans see that their local team is doing shocking or the football standard is bad, then crowd sizes will drop. only perth will get large crowds, as they did in the NSL
XXX-18T
Dwight Yorke has will sign with Sydney FC after his fitness test I think its a good start for the league to have player like Yorke in our league, like what Rivaldo is for Greece Reckon he'll do alright or is he here for a holidays making more porn videos
MaD_YiaNs
Yeah go Perth Glory :P To me Perth Glory will be the only team that will average more than 13000 a game (still poor) and maybe Sydney FC
adonis
Danny Allsopp just signed for Victory. NOt bad... Heard a rumour today that one of the Victory boys, Ricky Diaco from Bulleen is on 65g a yr - this guy is hopeless and there giving him that much - thats alot for Aust soccer and for him!!!!!!!! Anyways - with the attitude that most people have with the bitterness that hellas isnt in and olympic etc etc how will the league supposed to go forward. I mean were the real football fans and the new league needs us to start off and form a basis to grow - not all the skips etc are gonna go straight away - its gonna be us the spags and the poms - the juniors will no doubt be subjected to promotional stuff and theyll form another target audience but the new league needs alot of stuff to go its way to be able to stick around for the first couple yrs than be in a position were it not only becomes successful but also profitable and expandable domestically and internationally. I will attend the first few victory games hoepfully - out of curiosity and to see how things are to see this new team and the crowd etc etc - its up to them to win my support - but imwilling to give it a shot bc i have lived my entire life here (im only 22 LOL) but im sick and tired of afl and rugby been the top sports - i want football to be the top sport and i want to be able to see football on the news before AFL and i wanna see like 20 pages of football news in the paper instead of AFL and be able to watch free to air live games on a Main stream channel like 7 9 or 10! now im dreaming!!!!!!!!! ps - not to start an arguement but bc everyone is bitter about hellas its not only the leagues fault there not in, they too have to share the blame themselves otan etrogan ta lefta apo ti brazilia den tous enoiazei ti kaname kai pou xezame - tora pou mas theloun mas thimountai!!!! as pesoun kai apo to Premier League to State 1 tha einai oraia! go oakleigh cannons!!!!!!!!!!
