In the basketball Olympic qualifier, Greece will be hosting in Piraeus. They will face one of the following countries: Croatia, Egypt, Dominican Republic, New Zealand and Slovenia. Luka Doncic is questionable to play and if he does not get a medical clearance from his doctors regarding on his knee, he will likely sit out.

We are playing Dominican Republic and Egypt in the group stage. We should easily finish first in the group and will play the second team from the other group (most likely Croatia). If we qualify we will play for the one Olympic spot which most likely be Slovenia. Somewhere I read that Doncic announced that he will play in the tournament.

Doncic played in a friendly overnight for Slovenia against Brazil and dropped 32 points. He is playing.

We will get out of the group for sure, but Croatia and of course Slovenia will be no easy task.

It is being reported that a female track and field athlete that is part of the Olympic team has tested positive for banned substance. It is believed that it is one of two athletes that will take part in the 20 km walk competition. We might be looking for a new flag bearer for the opening ceremonies.

101 Greek athletes are heading to Paris. I will not be making predications this time as to who will win medals, things are different from 3 years ago in Tokyo. We just want to see a good showing from our Greek men and women who are competing for our country.

For our Greek teams at the Olympic Games, the men's basketball team will play in Group A against Canada, Spain, and Australia. For the men's water polo team, they will play against Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, United States, and Italy. For the women's water polo team, they will play Untied States, Spain, France (Host Nation), and Italy.

It's actually 100 athletes that will take part, since Filtisakou has been dropped from the Olympic team. even though it was not officially announced yet, it is obvious that she is the one that tested positive for the banned substance.
