FIFA Takes Over Hellenic Football Federation ( EPO )

Recommended Posts

Citing various issues concerning how EPO operated, FIFA has decided to assign an interim committee to run day to day issues at EPO. This interim committee will supposedly be in place until elections for a new EPO president are held. It should be noted elections were to be held on October 26, 2016, but were cancelled after legal actions by Viktoras Mitropoulos.

Here is the announcement by FIFA:

In my opinion this action is too little, too late.

This is an example how Greeks, since the Revolution, couldn't manage their own affairs and had foreign bodies tell them how to do it or Greeks brought them in to be in charge of Greek affairs. This is when conspiracies fall short, you know, that everybody hates Greece and can't let this country be what it can be, etc.... Two sections of society, sports, and education where Greeks have been 100% in charge show which is true...

Wow that's pretty big and good!

Do you know much about Mitropoulos and why he took legal actions?

Viktoras Mitrepoulos used to be the President of EPAE, the organization running 2nd Division (these days Football League).  Before that he was the president of Aigaleo and Karditsa. These days he is behind the Imerisia newspaper.

He is also the brother of Thomas Mitropoulos who was president of Aigaleo in 2002 during the game fixing scandal. That's when Thomas Mitropoulos was heard on tape saying: "F*** everybody else as long as Olympiakos and Aigaleo win", when he tried to influence referee assignments.

Viktoras tried couple times to become the EPO president, but failed against Gagatsis amd Pilavios. I think with this legal action he is trying to somehow once again get involved with EPO. I am almost certain that his move was also backed by the faction supported by Olympiakos and was certain to lose the EPO elections that were going to be held on October 26.

  • 4 weeks later...

Early today morning "unknown" arsonists set fire to the house of EPO's Head of referees, Georgios Bikas. Nobody was inside the home at the time of fire.

As a result, the FIFA Inetrim EPO committee canceled all national competiions (Superleague, Football League, Division 3) until further notice.

I said it before. Only complete expulsion of Greece from FIFA and UEFA competitions will force Greek officials to fix Greek soccer.
