  1. Or he could pull off a Warda, and waste his talent. Savidis wants to build a team and If the coach says he's vital he will stay unless the clause is hit.
  2. It's a great idea, it will bring more revenue to these smaller teams, and actually, help improve the level of football throughout Europe.
  3. I heard that UEFA is creating a 3rd tier league, for teams like Aris, so they don't feel left out.
  4. Even the teams with a small 3 million budget get a good and rather lucky streak sometimes... that doesn't mean that what ARIS achieved is a joke, it's a pretty good result. Good transfers with a limited budget, great coaching. There's always luck involved in football. Paok also achieved a good result, it's heading towards an undefeated championship and cup third times in three years, something that Olympiakos didn't achieve, and this year it would have been Paok's 2nd championship if Savidis just took the one bloody point and didn't storm into the pitch. Paok has a bright future ahead, and hopefully Aris too. Congrats to both teams. Most of these arguments are like saying that Young boys are better than Barcelona, cause reasons. I'm just confused about what they are really arguing about.
  5. To be fair that is exactly what I think that leak was, a scrapped design. The delays I think are entirelly cause of Paok and its design team/s.
  6. Wasnt the research team selected this year or late last year? They changed the law so this stadium could pass already. However, this has a long way to go, I don't even think there is a design to send to the ΣτΕ for approval. I don't think the government here is at fault, Tsipras has been very cooperative.
  7. You cant just let someone with money build whatever you. Let's welcome all the investors wanting to build a skyscraper infront of the Akropolis. The fact is that there's going to be a new stadum, as long as its under 42m (aparantly). Right now I imagine they are conducting research on the ground, foundations, light studies and how to make the area function with 40,000+ stadium and whatever other investments will need to be done. This ain't just going to be a stadium, it's most likely going to be some infrastructure works. All of this takes months. Having investors build whatever they want however they want is a recipe for disaster for cities.
  8. We are so bad we should be playing in the 2nd league.
  9. Do you remember when Paok had shiit scouts and bad management constantly doing bad transfers bringing players that didn't suit the team or were downright bad? That seems like a lifetime ago.
  10. Next year we might have VAR so no more goals from offsite and s%$#! except when Olympiakos plays as they will be playing without VAR due to technical issues.
  11. I reckon that Syriza might want to push this through before the elections and if possible get the contracts done and settled. They need the votes. I reckon the new government won't want to be blamed for blocking this, they'll need the votes in 4 years time. Greek politics is a mess, not as big of a mess as the current British government but still a big mess.
  12. @pash I've sent you a PM about that.
  13. That was when a subcontractor of Paok basically downloaded my model of SketchUp and did a recolouring of it, a few changes and presented it on TV a few years ago. Nothing to do with this project. Paok wasn't at fault, this issue has been settled with the relevant party. I'm not involved with this project in any way, The leaked design would definitely not be the direction I would take Toumba in.
  14. Some companies also use security papers for printing, it looks fine until you try to scan it and then the whole page is watermarked.
  15. The model is real, there's an actual physical model of a stadium that doesn't match up to any other model or known stadium. Models like these are expensive to produce and it's not something one or two people can do, it most likely required a 3D printer too, and at that scale, it definitely puts its past amateur level. So its definitely real but there is a chance that the design was meant for another team and some guy just snapped a photo and thought it would be funny to cause a stir. Also, the stadium might come out looking completely different, this may be just one of the many designs they proposed for Paok. When your getting paid thousands, you won't mind making a few of these models.
  16. It was leaked from a mysterious user with a single drive-by post on skyscrapercity.com (probably the biggest architecture related forums online). The user disappeared afterwards. Wouldn't be the first time something like that happened. I actually orginally reposted that image from skyscrapercity.com and tweeted populous and paok, asking them it is real, hoping that they will give more information. I then also tweeted it to various greek sports sites hoping that they'll somehow get to the bottom to it, and then that guy came along and tweeted it taking it from my twitter handle, then paokvoice got made an article about it using that guys tweet. Its a really poor design, it's imposing, boring, generic looking. It would look like a giant hangar in the centre of Thessaloniki. I think there's a high chance that this design was scrapped, judging by the constant delays with the stadium. That watermark is though absolutely horrible though unless they decided to send some sort of presentation to many different 3rd parties. Definitely an overkill. Unless the leak was a scanned document, and these watermarks only show up when the document is scanned or photographed with flash. However, I doubt it's fake as it is clearly a high budget physical model in the photo. Definitely not something one or two people can make. I presume the leaker was either butthurt that the designed he worked so hard was canned or the design is absolutely horrible, and it would be a tragedy for the area, so he hoped to cause an uproar from before. Or it could be someone who received the presentation and wanted to give Paok fans a small glimpse.
  17. Why is Paok's 3rd jersey blue instead of Gold?
  18. Paok actually may help to raise the level of soccer to some extent, due to their investments in their academies and youngsters, do you think that every single player will be good enough for the main team? Probably not, but they may be good enough for Larissa, and they might even be better then what so called Larrisa has now. It's what EPO should be doing now, heavily investing in the future.
  19. Yeah and you think that people ain't trying to turn around this sinking ship? They are, the government is doing what they can, of course, they ain't gonna relegate teams like Olympiakos for match-fixing, or any other big team, because it is a brand name, and if you relegate them what is left? Even less strong teams in the 1st league, but F*** the penalties should be way more severe if you don't relegate, like confiscating all the money from champions league and distributing it amongst smaller teams. And that could be actually an interesting system, all fines and everything to be redistributed to the small teams at the end of the year and investment in various local pitches etc. Unfortunately, you also have Uefa's stupid rule which forbids the government from interfering too much with football, like all the freaking changes have to approved by all the teams in Superleague, even if its for the betterment of the league. So what we have right now in Greek football is a comfortable system of Mafias and s%$#!.
  20. in 2006 they where 8th and then in 2007 they become 15th? Was there a change in how the coefficients were calculated? In 2003 they were even on 6th place. Could the coefficient rankings so dramatically change after a single bad run or good run?
  21. They didn't pocket it, there probably just paying off the new stadium with it.
  22. Paok was not outsmarted, Paok had no choice whatsoever in the matter in weather Prijo would leave or not. The clause of 10 million turned out to be too low. Once a clause like that is triggered the team has no say. Also Paok is playing with 60-70 ish something million. Paok may also dominate the next few generations of Greek league not because the league is worse off but because the Savidis actually invests heavily in the team, not just the Main team, but also the infrastructure; youth teams; training grounds, scouting young talents etc, and it shows as their pretty much dominating all age groups across all leagues. Weather or you like it the future may very well belong to PAOK even if the rest of the league gets back on track. And your mentioning past results, even though Paok's team is improving every year, and is essentially a team that is still being built. Savidis has European aspirations, he knows that there is more money in the CL, even potentially an extra 40 mill for qualifying (that what Basel gets). Paok is a way different team then what it used to be. All your arguments revolve around the fact that paok never qualified for CL and yet we very know the potential of the team, but we also know the reason why it failed in the last year qualification (benfika ain't exactly a push over, their marketing deal is more then the whole greek league combined). Paok players couldn't keep up with so many matches at that level, conditioning was poor and a poor defence. Once that issue is resolved we may be seeing a very different paok. However most of the league is indeed hitting the shitter, hopefully, Aek at least will get back on track, and Aris will sort itself and continue with good signings, so that we will see some competition next year. Hopefully, Marinakis will invest in his team inorder to keep up with Paok, and not give up. So that atleast the league becomes more interesting to watch.
  23. Well, there was contact, the attacker's leg did get hooked on to the defender's leg. And it did look like the was about to put his back leg forward but he got stopped. It seemed to have enough force to move his leg toward the center and cause him to lose his footing and trip over the ground. It's very difficult to see but there is contact and I can see how he could have fallen over.
