karnezis, tachtsidis, and manolas got some sprezzatura from italia no doubt.

yeah I thought tachtsidis played very nicely lots of dangerous plays. mitroglou was cancelled out by their star centre back but he was really hustling out there.

Karnezis was a stud out there. 2-3 great saves in the second half. Mantalos great at drawing fouls and a goal threat constantly (really reminds me of karagounis) Staf is winning me over and has great work ethic and nice goal with Mitro/Kpaps building a trick wall. manolas was pretty good imo. great play to his strength multiple times winning goal kicks. 9 points in 3 games I think we already beat our euro campaign points wise? :P

guys, even in our golden era greece was always slow. guys like holebas and salpingidis are the exception to the rule. as long as we get results that's all that matters. greece's strength lies more in actual 'strength', and technical ability. this is why a guy like cisse can come in and shred defense in superleague cause he has speed, whereas a guy like berbatov struggled more in the superleague. greece is essentially the strength of the epl and technical ability of italy (although obvious lesser tiers). we generally lack speed and work ethic ala germany and epl. speed isn't everything, otherwise ivory coast, and nigeria would have some world cup trophies already.

fortounis deep would be a waste cause he has great finishing abilities and is a greater feeder for mitroglou tachtsidis is a great deep lying playmaker and that's his number 1 asset.

mantalos gets things done. fetfa is a joy to watch and would love to have him in there as well. he gives defenders fits!

a lot of people were paranoid we'd lose this, so to win by 2 is great. the lineup was pretty good but instead of maniatis/tzavellas/staf = holebas/kpaps/karelis should've started. also pretty nice considering we didn't have samaris, so we may only get stronger. sad I didn't get to watch the game, can't wait for highlights belgium is looking scary and bosnia seems to have fallen off. 2nd place is our to lose. we need the stars to align to get 1st

there aren't that many defenders better than manolas and sokratis, that's for sure. but obvious one's are = chiellini, ramos, hummels, tiago silva, boatang there's a reason why these guys are known world wide and our boys not as many. you can only count on one hand that has a duo equivalent or better than our duo, namely = italy and germany

yes I recall a point where more people on the forums were for tzavella than holebas holebas is our best lb though now tzavellas is still good tho and good for bench. versatile.

yeah good point and very strange since defense on paper is our strong suit. at least sokratis, manolas, kpaps. I think we should play a traditional line, rather than pressing high. yes sokratis and manolas are fast, but majority of good forwards are still faster. they're just fast in terms of cb's.

we have a lot of in form players = Mitroglou, Sokratis, Karnezis, Ninis, Karelis + that's were my confidence is coming from and on paper we're better than every team except Belgium in this group. I understand the compulsion to be cautious and not let it slide into arrogance, but 2nd place is ours to lose still.
