yeah same not gunna lie just got into football circa 2004. I think Karnezis is the more talented goalie. Niko was always very shakey on crosses. Despite the euro victory. Niko also benefited from the park the bus era whereas now we press much higher with Manolas and Sokratis. Niko also was only Greek league whereas Karnezis is a top keeper in serie A. We never had a fully healthy Karnezis at a tournament and if was healthy during world cup we probably would have advanced to final 8 or more.

Mitroglou Tsiartsas Karagounis Zagorakis Kats Torosidis Sokratis Kpaps Manolas Seitaridis Karnezis Essentially our defense from now + seitaridis. our attack circa 2004 + mitroglou would be my starting 11.

lazaros is in pretty solid form. he seems to be involved in every goal for aek in these playoffs and we're talking top 5 greek league so that's a good level. he assisted bakasetas goal and also got a game winner and creating tons of dangerous chances. he's played at NT level and was decent in 2014. think he's a no brainer with a lack of wingers. pelkas is also looking nice this season as well with that thunder goal against pao to lead them into winning the cup. the greek playoffs gives our NT a nice little advantage for international soccer because it keeps everyone in form.

ya nowdayz tho mitroglou is on fire and karelis too when he was playing. kone as a second striker would've been cool.
-
yeah he seems to operate under the 'winner effect' in that when he's in form the goals keep showering down. i recall begging for him to be in the NT 2011-13. he looked so dominant out there. weird season for him. I don't think he's done forever though

can anyone explain to me what happened to klaus this season? 0 league goals? is he playing full games or just cameos now?

Ioannis Fetfatzidis ‒ (Now Playing for Aris)

lol offensive. -
forgive me if this a repost but I could not find his thread so I figured it might have got deleted! he's one of the NT's best players gotta be on the board! anyways wanted to note that he got an assist to De Rossi via a thundrous header saved by Buffon and rebound caught by De Rossi in a 3-1 Roma win against Juventus.

looking at his career stats dude has never put in a full season. closest he got was genoa at 31 games. everthing else he averages out at like 15. oly fans, is he really injury prone or what -
Mitroglou fortounis Mantalos Gianniota zeca maniatis Staf Sok Manolas Toro Karnezis Likely what we'll see and decent. Would be nice to have fetfa, kpaps, samaris, tachtsi, tzav, karelis as options though. kone, lazaros, pelkas should also be taken into consideration. the auto starters are = manolas, sokratis, karnezis, fortounis, mitroglou, kpaps when available. the others I think dependent on form.
-
lazaros with some rocket shots in the final and a goal (albeit a glykos error) especially with all our injuries and he's explosive on the wings. pelkas is also maturing nicely with that rocket against pao
-
where was pelkas? glykos with a typical amazing save and amazing error lol. lazaros should be given an NT nod now with all our injuries especially.

Kostas Mitroglou ‒ (now playing for Aris)
georgelaz replied to js1000's topic in Greek Players Abroad
yea he would cause Icardi and Giroud are better. I'm a huge Mitroglou fan and have always said he should always start for the NT cause he's a class above our other options even when barely anyone said he should. Icardi is captain at inter at like 22 and is only going to get better. Giroud not only is better than Mitro at striker but he's also a playmaker. Benfica is his sweet spot. -
sokratis has elevated to superstar level this season. I haven't watched Hummels closely, but I think he's had a better season.

he'd get benched to oblivion imo at those clubs. makria -
we're more likely against bosnia still imo. the core of the group is sokratis, manolas, mitroglou, karnezi, fortounis. every other position has decent replacements I think. belgium I think will play harder against us next round cause they'll know what we're all about + they'll likely have hazard and de bruyne who are game changers.

not bad at all. only tough teams are portugal and italy with that. we also got a pedigree against portugal.

I don't actually monitor him a lot but his skill set is not one that deteriorates with age. His strengths are his passing, vision, shooting. All of which he can preserve into his 30s eg) Karagounis though they both were pacey when younger as most players tend to be. That was never the focal point for ninis imo. ninis tends to do well with a classy striker eg) Mitroglou and Cisse. It ups his game when he has motivation that his passes will likely lead to a back of the net opportunity. -

why siopis never? I think ninis has a comeback in him. kone as cf behind berg I could see chemistry. -

the trick to accomplish that is if the players are greek for our budget. I'm thinking ninis+siopis+kone -
dzeko in top form. 33 goals most ever by a Roma player beating out Totti. We have our hands full against Bosnia who will have a chip on their shoulder going into Zenica. hopefully this works in our favour as they'll play emotional and we'll play cerebral and absorb their attacks. lol we might be one of the most frustrating sides to play against. Dzeko pulling Sokratis's pants down. Tzavellas getting his mustache pulled by Mertens. Gives an aura of Euro 2004 where we frustrated the likes of Ronaldo and Henry.
