While we can certainly still lose, I think this game showed we are much better than Panathinaikos. Zero reason we can't make it to the final. -edit- that other game ended 1-1, with both teams down to ten men. Lodygin will miss the next game for Levadeiakos, while Nuss (LW) will miss it for OFI. OFI seems to be grabbing an almost comical number of cards in the knockouts this year.

Someone (Swiderski?) also got a card as the game ended, but of course the broadcast had to put a big graphic about the second leg up while it happened.

It's looking like Sanchez might be a done deal. Some articles earlier in the day were saying his club wanted 4mm for him. Hopefully we're not grossly overpaying. InPAOK says we're giving up a 20% resale rate as well, so maybe we did get him for slightly cheaper. I believe we have to declare players by the 4th, but he's allegedly arriving on the 5th. So we'd move forward with Sastre as our backup in the EL, I'd assume. -edit- inpaok now saying the price was 2.5mm + 500k bonus (for 80% of his rights)

Dumb end to the AEK-OLY game. Absurdly soft penalty given to Olympiakos in the last minute or two of stoppage time (11 minutes!). AEK player then tries to scuff/dig up the penalty spot, which leads to Retsos getting into a shoving match (and a yellow). I guess I shouldn't complain because the PK results in the tie I wanted. Anyway, standings are now as follows. Both OLY and PAOK have a game in hand relative to AEK. AEK 45 PAOK 44 OLY 43 Levadiakos 38

It's funny how at first glance it looks like a very normal (and good) goal then as you watch and rewatch the replay it gets super obvious how much he controlled it. Oh, well. He's been good today regardless.

I bet you're right about the "flooding the midfield" plan. They might have done it even if Konstantelias wasn't suspended (with him playing LW). This is the classic Lucescu fallback when he sees the threat. Hopefully Zafeiris will show his quality there.
