  1. Can't remember. I think they beat SM though, from memory they were a class above. But Hungary demolished them.
  2. Yes Hungary came as well, I remember going to the game between them and Vojvodina. At the time, because we only saw the very ordinary local level of football, I remember thinking how good these teams were. The Hungarians in particular were incredible. https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1300&dat=19820122&id=HyRVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=VpQDAAAAIBAJ&pg=3656,2751556&hl=en Sorry, off topic I know.
  3. Vojvodina.....now there's a blast from the past. Don't know if you remember sheriff but they came to Melbourne in the 80s and played in a tournament with the socceroos and the Hungarian NT if I recall correctly. Good team, but blitzed by Hungary 5 or 6-0 (Hungary was a decent side then)
  4. I hadn't seen SM play for years. Looked like they had a few good players. Pity, this club deserves more than where they are now.
  5. A game that should've been over long before the penalties. We've gone from Oceania Team of the Century to losing against a bunch of no-name hacks.....disappointing
  6. South Melb in the FFA cup VS Palm Beach on the Gold Coast......live on Fox Sports tomorrow night! http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/article/ffa-cup-preview-palm-beach-v-south-melbourne/h2wj3jq19wwp1wwgahnbusf5h Will be good to see the club again on the national stage, on a decent pitch...
  7. I have a bad feeling about this signing..... Seen it before, big money paid, injury prone ex-star, hardly plays a game, leaves club with a lot of money for very little contribution (see Julio Cezar, Flavio Conceicao in the past). Hope I'm wrong.
  8. Sell the remaining marbles in Athens to the British museum. That should get us a few bob.
  9. I don't mind the design, it's simple and neat. A bit like this one which was a common Puma design from around 1980:
  10. Looks like this might be the one; retro from late 70s when we had puma: http://www.sport24.gr/football/omades/Panathinaikos/sta-mesa-ioylioy-h-paroysiash-ths-emfanishs-toy-panathhnaikou.3539492.html
  11. True. Malta, Cyprus and even Liechtenstein are out of our league now.....we have no chance. All we have left is watching Oly in the CL, because all the other clubs will likely have early exits from qualifying rounds. Jokes aside, it really is a dismal time for Greek football at the moment. But we still watch and support............
  12. So true. Portugal have Ronaldo, Wales have Bale, Sweden have Ibrahimovic, Czech Republic had Nedved, Romania had Hagi, Bulgaria had Stoichkov, Finland had Litmanen, Ukraine had Shevchenko, etc, etc, etc. We've never had a world class player, and especially in the past few years not even one of European standard. Only a couple of average defenders, skill wise.......nobody.
  13. A few of them have very nice tattoos, but they don't know how to play football. Kone is the finest example. Credit to the Faroes team, even as part timers they deserved to win both matches.
  14. Embarrassment. Players like Kone and Christoarchidopoulos should never play for the NT again. They are totally useless. We have some dark years ahead.....................
  15. ^^^ Yes, sorry There is another called Greek TV Australia (or something like that). Cheaper but no Novasports, OTE, etc.
  16. Not sure why Karagounis' contribution to the NT over the years is being questioned here?? The guy is a Greek legend, the greatest player in the history of our NT by far. The stats speak for themselves. Saying we would've been better off without him is totally ridiculous. I wish we had a young version of him playing in tonight's match!
  17. At the moment it's not because there's no World channel yet, but I certainly hope so. As you guys say, the picture quality of the old ERT was MUCH better than Antenna via Foxtel. My parents recently installed the streamed Greek channels via the internet. This is also a lot better than Antenna, and you get lots of channels, basically see all the Greek football you want. You need unlimited or high volume internet though (NBN is best). From memory Hellas TV offered a sports package (Nova, OTE, etc) for around $30 a month.
  18. Welcome back ERT. All the whinging on here about public servants, communists, lazy workers, blah, blah blah... I have antenna and have seen the other greek channels and the rubbish they broadcast, wanky serials and music programs. Can't watch 5 minutes of it. At least ERT showed some decent documentaries, travel programs, historical footage from their archives, news and of course the football. Welcome back ERT, let's hope the World variant isn't too far away.
  19. Thanks.....just noticed it on the site. 4:45 AEST No dodgy streamed porn sites necessary!
  20. Blackhawk, I assume the Faroes match will also be streamed on ESPN3 in Australia? Currently it isn't listed in their forthcoming matches, but often they add to the list as the game approaches. Cheers
  21. The AEK stadium should be ready for the next olympics to be held in Athens.... Don't hold your breath.
