  1. A couple of years ago they were offering the sports channels alone for $30/mth, but they no longer offer this package. My only concern is that if you don't have NBN, you might have some issues with the picture freezing, etc. We have crap internet here in Australia. And as HellasHab said above, turned on the TV this morning and the PAO game was showing. Luckily I put it to tape so I can watch it tonight.
  2. My parents have IPTV and the picture quality is a lot better than Antenna Pacific on Fox. You need to have a good internet speed though. Ellas TV and GreekTVAustralia are the two I'm familiar with. Ellas TV I think has all the Greek sports channels, but the package is around $60 a month. It seems that ESPN has lost the CL, so those of us with Foxtel are screwed......another $20 a month for BeinSport!
  3. I would think both programs will be back if they continue with SL matches, but I don't think GA was on today. As for the picture quality, Foxtel must do something to improve it....$20 a month to watch a picture where 80s videos (that's how we watched greek games back then) dubbed 10 times over was better.
  4. And I should've added that the picture quality of the AEK match was as bad as ever.....turns you off watching it.
  5. ^^^ OK, thanks. Were any matches shown this morning (i.e. Sunday matches)?
  6. Ant1 or Antenna Pacific? Ant1 is in Greece only (unless you have IPTV). I don't think Pacific advertised anything?
  7. Turned the TV on early this morning and what do you know? AEK was showing on Antenna! Looks like it might be the same deal as last season?
  8. Ant1 is in Greece only, don't know if that means Pacific/Satellite will be showing the same. Antenna Pacific I noticed just a few minutes ago advertising the Greek cup for this season, but nothing more.
  9. Which box and provider? The internet cost isn't an issue (although the speed can be). And can you record from the box, because we get everything in the middle of the night....
  10. I think you guys are pretty lucky, and you've got a better / faster (and cheaper) internet service. Anybody in Australia have an IPTV services with all sports channels (my parents have one but don't think they have all the greek sports channels)?
  11. The IPTV providers here don't all offer all the sports channels. Which provider are you with? Do you get all the OTE and Nova sports channels with your subscription? ^^^ Blackhawk, sounds like PAO will also be on Antenna? They haven't advertised anything as yet.
  12. No, I think it's these guys. They currently only have 2 channels, $30 per month... http://www.mysat.tv/packages/#toggle-id-3 Other option is IPTV, but that's internet dependent, not good for slow connections like we have here in the arse end (unless you have NBN where it works OK)
  13. Would be great to have that channel here. Mysat though is a separate provider i.e. not Foxtel so will require another subscription. And if the rights to UCL matches are taken from ESPN that's another spanner in the works.
  14. SportPlus isn't available in Australia unfortunately. And we pay $20 (AUD) for Antenna Pacific which has the worst picture quality imaginable. And if, as you say, Antenna bought Greek NT and european matches (especially in HD), I'd be the first to sign up....
  15. This is Greece you're talking about. They'll probably work out a deal 2 or 3 rounds into the season....
  16. SBS will be showing matches, but only on Wednesday mornings I believe (heard this a while ago). Not sure about ESPN. If they don't, will leave a big (expensive) hole.
  17. +1. The worst foreign player PAO ever had. Might do OK in the AL, but will probably fail even there.
  18. You're absolutely right and I forgot about that........sorry, poor comment in light of this
  19. I meant tougher as in tougher tackling, strength, more butchers here.....not tough as in difficulty making it or being successful. Sheriff's point about TV coverage is spot on. I'v just got Foxtel HD and compared to standard def it's night and day. I would pay anything to get the pathetic Antenna Pacific on HD................ In terms of stadia, yes another good point but the "football" grounds in Australia (more like rugby grounds) are better, no question. For example, my team Pao, second biggest supported club in Greece, has a stadium (which I absolutely love and visit every time I'm in Athens) which in Australia would be classified on the Heritage register........
  20. A mate said he'd seen him working at his grandfather's fish & chip shop in South Melbourne. Apparently his dad Yiannis also worked there decades ago before they emigrated to Greece. Could be coming to the A-League?
  21. You have just started a new topic here which potentially has hundreds of pages and many arguments.......just like in the old GS forum. The standard of the AL is not as bad as people think (e.g. Akritis above). The results of AL teams against top opposition (Liverpool, Juventus, Man City, etc) is evidence of this, although they were only pre-season friendlies. Definitely not as good as the GSL, but it is a totally different league and style, not as skilful but tougher and fairly quick. A bit like the EPL of old but lower standard obviously. I'm sure others will have different opinions, and they will tell you so....
  22. From what I've seen of Antonis I think he's a good prospect with a bright future. Skilful, good passer of the ball, good shooter. Recently played for the socceroos at the age of 21. National coach (Postecoglou) rates him highly I believe. Playing for PAOK and possibly in Europe is a different ball game, but I hope he develops and becomes a good player in the Greek league. Good luck to him.
  23. What rubbish! I heard he was working at a car wash in Dandenong. Get your facts straight!
  24. I don't think many subscribers would be excited about seeing the Greek cup. If they showed European games (e.g. like Brugge-PAO recently), then they'll have an audience.
  25. ^^^ I don't think Antenna Pacific/Satellite can afford to not show at least some Greek football. A lot of their advertising (website, etc) is focused on this. And we don't have Sport Plus here at the arse end. If they don't show anything, bye-bye antenna for me...
