Our only hope is now that Netherlands somehow drops points in Ireland and we beat Gibraltar so we stay ahead of them. Best case scenario now is we face Netherlands at home either up a point or tied. If that doesn’t happen then on to the nations league for a 2nd chance.. Just so disappointed how this team played i don’t know what to make of it. Was it just a bad night or is this the real reality of this team?

Huge blow not having Baldock and Mavropanos. Rota will get exposed big time. Poyet during his pre-game press conference said when asked if they will try to attack more "It all depends if we have this one injury that i was told that may make us change our game plan" he was talking about Baldock. he knows now they cant be that aggressive down the right side with Rota back there. Badlock was doing a good job joining the play and crossing the ball in.

Fortounis did this IMO because he didn't get called up against the Ireland and France matches. I believe reports came out he was disappointed not to get selected for those matches so he went from being disappointed to not wanting to be part of the NT in the span of two months? Anyways sucks but it is what it is... At the end of the day like some guys said already France had to rely on a penalty to beat us. We held our own and we showed we won’t be an easy out for any team. This to me even though we lost was a huge confidence booster and we are really starting to show that this team is starting to put it together and hopefully have leave the dreadful years behind us. I haven’t read one negative article or listened to one negative podcast about how Greece played. Everything was very positive even from the French media. In September we play in Holland first and then against Gibraltar at home. Netherlands plays us and then go into Ireland. At the very least if we can get a draw against the Netherlands we should easily get 3 points against Gibraltar which will still keep us ahead of them. Hopefully they also drop points in Ireland. This is the first time in years where I actually feel optimistic about this team.

The way France was able to score after retaking the penalty was so unlucky. But even though we lost this was another step in the right direction for this team. I truly believe we are starting to turn the corner. 2nd place is very doable and worst case Turkey looks good to qualify so that makes our chances even better in the nations league if we need it.

It sucks because without Mavros boneheaded play we could have taken a point out of this match.
