  1. Here's my only worry with Santos, Now don't get me wrong he was great and one of the best coaches the NT have had but when he was coaching the NT he had the players and personalities to implement his defensive and shut down style. That wont work with this type of core and this generation of players. I would rather we find a coach that likes to play more of a style where we can attack as a unite or play more balanced. If you look back the best games this team has played is when they pushed the pace. I could be wrong but that's my thinking.
  2. True but don’t forget the game before that where we were down a man almost the entire game against Japan he had the team playing solid defence to even give us a shot to make the IC game count.. Santos knew how to get the most out of his players. Man I had such high hopes for Kone, Samaris and others. What a disaster it’s been since that tourney..
  3. I just heard on Hellas footy podcast that with the draw to Kosovo we now drop into pot 4..... Can anyone confirm? if that's the case that is absolutely embarrassing. The guys on the podcast are afraid the EPO will keep JVS on.
  4. It was pretty much confirmed after the Spain game JVS would get an extension but now with the 1-1 draw it seems like the EPO is torn but I think they are still leaning to keeping him for the nations league which would be a huge mistake as it will be against teams that are similar to Kosovo and Georgia and JVS has proved he can’t get good results from these type of teams. I really hope Now more then ever they get rid of him. I’m wondering if a Greek coach would be better for these guys or is it better to have an outsider? I fear when an outsider comes in he will take a while to learn the players and their capabilities and right now we don’t have anymore time to experiment as we need someone that knows who our best players are and play them right away. But on the other hand I also fear a Greek coach may be more likely to use who the Epo and player agents push for.
  5. Εθνική Ελλάδας: Δεύτερες σκέψεις για Φαν Σιπ στην ΕΠΟ (sport24.gr)
  6. Guys give this a read he explains everything JVS has done from nations league to the World Cup qualifiers. He is spot on. https://hellasfooty.blogspot.com/2021/11/same-mistakes-keep-costing-us.html?m=1&fbclid=IwAR04RAqwyd9BtwuJjAcTUMjYSNY8k0JahoDhb9v9VYI4pVdHi7TZsfpTthI
  8. Agree its no all on him and i defended him somewhat after Spain but only getting 6 points out of a possible 12 against Georgia and Kosovo how can he not be fired at this point?
  9. Boys we didn't even have a chance for 2nd in this world cup. we couldn't top a pathetic nations league group and now we get 6 points total out of a possible 12 against Kosovo and Georgia and think we have a chance for 2nd??? we were delusional. he needs to go ASAP. I'm done defending him.
  10. Time for JVS to go, especially after his press conference where he said “this game against Kosovo is a new beginning and we will show what it takes to beat these type of teams” HE NEEDS TO GO ASAP
  11. If we don’t get 3 points then I'm on board with everyone else he needs to go. Can’t defend him anymore. He’s doing the same s%$#! as he did last time we played Kosovo we were up a goal and dominating and then sat back and ate it again.
  12. Unbelievable are we seriously only going to get one win out of 4 games against Kosovo and Georgia? That’s embarrassing at this point.
  13. Yes in theory if you don't make a tournament you should change coaches but what happens when your team is in a rebuild? After 2012 when we lost our guys we had to transition into a rebuild but the coaches we had still didn't go that route and tried to hang on to the guys that were left without brining in the youth to start the transitioning them into the national team. That has put us into the position we are in now. I don't think any coach would have got us into a tournament yet in my opinion. Guys after 20012 the team was in shambles.. I'm all for brining in a new reputable coach but don't think for a second all of a sudden our midfield problems are going to go a way or all of a sudden we are going to find a striker that continuously scores. You can argue that we should have made second in this group and maybe you are right but you guys cant tell me we are a better team then Spain or Sweden.. We played Sweden good but overall they are a better team then us so we finished in 3rd which was expected as we were the 3rd best team in the group on paper. We should have got max points from Kosovo and Georgia but Georgia just beat Sweden 2-0 and it took a very late goal for Spain to beat Georgia so take from that what you will. We will always struggle to break down weaker teams that park the bus i don't think that will change right away as back in our good days we were barley getting 1-0 wins and a lot of draws. Regardless i don't think it was all bad with JVS i think he did some good things, I'm just worried that we replace him with a coach that wants us to play a more defensive style of play. Remember JVS came in here and was preaching to play offence and pressing and when it worked it looked good when it didn't work we looked bad but i think that takes time.
  14. I agree, We cant just say fire the coach without knowing who a possible replacement is. What if we end up with another Ang or worse. We need to be very careful not to let emotions get in the way that was my point. JVS is trying to build something but before we fire him i would like to know which coach he would be replaced with, The Last thing i want to happen is a new sub par coach comes in and changes everything up and we take another step back. Regarding Manolas and Socratis as per JVS interview he told them they always have a place on the NT and would be called up for the World cup qualifiers but they didn't like that. Those guys had a problem with Ang and now JVS they have to know they cant run the show.
  15. I don’t disagree at all like I said I’m not advocating he should stay but I’m just worried what the alternative will be. Like I said we haven’t had a coach be able to do anything different with this team so I’m not to optimistic even if we change coaches the results will be different. It may be the way to go but so far NO COACH has been able to get us into a tournament so far so. Not sure that will change with a new coach especially if he completely changes the style of play to getting this team to sitting back. Like I said I hated a lot of things he’s done but he’s done some good things as well. Can he learn from his mistakes and improve on the next campaign? I don’t know but maybe it’s worth giving him the nations league and if he can’t top the group there then they replace him for the euros.
  16. Here’s my issue with replacing JVS, number one we can’t keep switching coaches every year and expect to build chemistry within the team as each coach will have a different philosophy and be looking for different type of players that fit the style of play he wants to play. What if we replace JVS with another coach that takes us back to the old style of Greek football just sitting back and playing boring ass football?? Then what? Those days are done we don’t have those type of players to just sit back and defend for 90 minutes without conceding a goal it won’t happen. JVS has made a lot of mistakes and I can’t stand his in game decision making regarding subs, I also can’t stand how we put certain players in certain positions and some of the call ups he makes, BUT he has had this team for the most part with the exception of some very boring and head scratching games playing some very exciting football it looks like we have speed and if he can just get it through his head that certain players Should not be starting I think he can build something good. I personally think knowing the EPO’s budget will never get a high end talent here in regards to a coach I think we give him one more shot for the nations league. This division that we were in was a difficult division you probably had one of the better second seeded teams and we beat them once and could’ve easily beat them the second game if it wasn’t for some unlucky bounces. Where JVS needs to improve is playing against the weaker teams and finding a way to get a result but as we saw today it’s not that easy as Georgia beat Sweden in a huge game for Sweden. I think if Fortounis comes back and having Tzolis and Douvikas and Masouras alternating we should be able to build a decent team. This is my thinking right now I’m not 100% saying I want JVS to stay but I think the team has definitely improved under him and has found some chemistry and have finally found a little bit of an identity they want to play with. Remember guys Ranieri couldn’t beat the Faroe Islands and Skibbe couldn’t beat Estonia in Athens in a huge game. We just need to be careful if we replace him we may go backwards as I think this team hopefully will continue to improve under him. Just my thoughts right now
  17. Another tournament we don't qualify for.. Don't know how much more I can take of this.
  18. At this point i would go all out you have nothing to lose you need a win anyways so even if we eat a few more goals what's the difference just go all out attacking at this point.
  19. So we get an iffy offside call against us that calls back the goal and then Spain gets a gift penalty. What a joke.
