My best guess is that Savvidis is jumping the gun. In the same way as when we got Huub and Stoch and various other signings over the years. In the same way that we hired Stanojevic last season. What happened this season was all due to Lucescu. Hopefully I'm wrong. We'll know once he plays ... you can't hide on the pitch.

Djalma is a big loss. So much for trying to hang onto our core players. Then again if the offer from the Turks is real it's hard to compete with that. Djalma is a ταύρος. Imagine having to man mark him with his high work rate and just the way he generally bullies himself into space. I'd much rather be marking say a Limnios. With Djalma and Mak both gone (I wish we signed Mak and am surprised we didn't) we'll essentially be playing with new wingers. As for the 5 million dollar kid, the story is almost surreal. Kind of bizarre. For a club like PAOK who's highest transfer fee is barely 2 million to spend 5 million on an unknown kid seems kind of strange. Does Savvidis have dirty money to wash ? Then again maybe this kid is MUCH better than everyone in our squad ? He'll have to be if you're paying that sort of money. Right now I don't like this move.

Disagree pash. I wouldn't sell him for 1.8. We forget how difficult it is to find a good keeper. Really we haven't signed any! Rey was bought for 1.5 which I think was good business by us. And given time I believe he would be a very good keeper. The fact we "discovered" Paschalakis was luck. The club never planned for this. If it were up to me I'd keep Paschalakis and Rey and Glykos. The only issue would be if they are happy to ride the bench or not. After the end of 2018/2019 we will have a better picture of where we are at. We will know for certain if Paschalakis can be our keeper for a long time. Also we'll know what's happening with Glykos. Ideally we can hold onto Rey until then even if we have to loan him out for the season.

It'll be interesting to see how Henrique is assessed by Lucescu. Lambrou also. The rest I can't see making the cut.

It's not that. It's just that I can't be bothered with the screaming match this can easily turn into. As for how this plays out, it's hard to say. I can't see a referendum passing so I can't see a resolution. As for the name itself I've never really cared for it per se. The part that bothers is the appropriation of history. If you want to call yourself Macedonian because that's the part of the world you live in, pfft, yeah if you like deluding yourself go for it. But when that extends into irredentism, falsification of history etc. then that is unacceptable. What will they teach their school children now ? I assume they'll have to change the syllabus ?

@jvc the only PAO is paying any debts at all is because they are being forced to. If they weren't threatened by UEFA and EPO they wouldn't pay a dime. As for PAOK or any club for that matter making the CL the world has changed in the last 15 years or so. Every greek team will get a beat down in the CL. The gap between the big clubs has increased too much. The days of competing or beating Juves etc are gone. Don't compare PAOK making the CL now as equivalent to what was achieved back in the days. Different days. You can't compare. In the meantime, PAO should focus on paying off their debts ... even if it's only because they're forced to do it.

Fair enough. We aren’t there to see how the negotiations go. All we have to judge by is the end result. Regarding Cimirot, 2.5 million was a decent price. The guy was a good solid squad player without being anything exceptional. Very replaceable. So I’m guessing we thought we wouldn’t ever get a better offer. Still, we sold a player who was a first team starter half way throughout the season. Not a good way to make us known as strong negotiators. Anyway I hope Cimirot gets sold for 20 million and not 10 it really burns Savvidis. It’s the only way he’ll learn.

Not sure about this player. I’m not saying he’s not a good player I’m just saying it’s too hard to judge. You can watch highlight reels but even Fetfatzidis looks like the next Messi based on highlight reels. Add to that the fact the transfer is dragging on and my attitude is zamanfou to the entire saga. On a side note I’m surprised we haven’t pursued Conte.

Sometimes I just don't "get" life. I really thought Giannoulis would be a part of the team for 2018/2019. He had a very solid season at Atromitos. Can't really ask for more from the kid. Besides there is no depth at LB. Only Vieirinha. Crespo doesn't count as he's just a backup player for the position. I can see it now. Vieirinha will get injured and the headlines will be "PAOK priority is for LB at winter transfer window".

Mak is gone, Prijovic likely to go, Warda who knows if he'll come and chase players wives. Campos to Turkey ? Pelkas I'm sure has the attention of clubs. Stability ? I hope we don't change it up too much.

Not even for 10 million I don't want to sell Prijovic! I hope he stays at PAOK for another 3 seasons and we get one more striker of similar quality. For too long we have suffered with strikers of not enough quality. We hit the jackpot with Prijovic. We were lucky he came from a league no one really pays attention to and he hadn't "clicked" yet. If Prijovic was at the level he is now back then I don't believe we would've been able to get him because other clubs would've swooped in. Anyway we'll see what happens.
