  1. He was also in goal.com's champions league team of the week. They wrote: Kyriakos Papadopoulos - Schalke 04 The central defensive question is one of many that has been unresolved for Schalke so far this season but the new signing Papadopoulos took a great step towards becoming a permanent fixture in it with his display against Benfica. His positioning was superb, but it was his impeccable tackling that stole the show during the 2-0 win. A Bundesliga win and now a Champions League one; have the Royal Blues turned a corner? http://www.goal.com/en/news/1716/champions...nd-matchday-two
  2. Brescia lost 2-1 at Bari but Kone scored Brescia's goal
  3. Brescia are currently drawing 1-1 at Bari at half time. Bresica's equaliser was scored by Kone
  4. that's great. do you know how he played?
  5. Yeah but how highly you rate someone can change very quickly. Signing for Milan isn't an achievement, becoming a success there is. No doubt he has the ability, but he needs to be consistent. He's been dropped for tonight's game against Catania. Nesta and Thiago Silva are the centre-back partnership with Bonera at right back. Hopefully he features at some stage
  6. I don't think anyone has written him off, it's just a little concerning because big clubs aren't as patient as Genoa
  7. i think he was drppoed following his poor performance against Cesena
  8. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/match/48641/cese...vs-milan/report Milan lost 2-0 at Cesena and according to goal.com Papastathopoulos was the flop of the match getting a rating of 4.5 :( Tachtsidis was on the bench for Cesena but didn't feature. It hasn't been a good start to his Milan career
  9. Gekas has ended his goal drought with 2 goals in Frankfurt's 4-0 win away at Munchengladbach
  10. Greece have been handed an extremely tough play-off draw, the Czech Rep, who were undefeated (won 7 drew 1) and were in Germany's group. If we win we make it to the finals tournament in Denmark next year but it will be tough. We'll have to pay particularly close attention to their captain and striker Tomas Pekhart of Jablonec who was the joint top scorer in qualifying with 7. We can do this if we have a full strength side but it's a big test
  11. FYROM 1-2 HELLAS! Papazoglou with a goal on the 80th to surely all but seal our winning of the group :gr: Final whistle, we won 1-2! Goals from Siovas (Panionios) and Papazoglou (PAOK). We will now play one of the best runners-up in a two legged play off. If we win that we make it to the finals in June (where there will be 8 teams, essentially meaning it's a quarter final spot).
  12. FYROM 0-1 HELLAS Siovas with a powerful header to give Greece the lead on 37 mins. :gr: Uh oh, FYROM have equalised on 64 mins Giorgievski. Nervous times ahead.
  13. FYROM u21 - Greece u21 is being played now. Greece are 2 points ahead of England with one game to play (this one for Greece and England play Lithuania at home, who they'll definitely beat). Novasports.gr is suggesting that Greece only needs a draw to get through to the next round (the play off round), i'm guessing that means head to head counts rather than goal difference? At the moment it's 18 mins in, 0-0. Does anybody know of any links showing the game?
  14. http://www.sportdog.gr/v3/article.aspx?id=144421 This is an article in the build up to the Greece-Georgia game and I noticed something that really made me laugh :D Samaras is probably the Greek player that divides us more than any other. Some people think he's great, others think he's poor. I think he's talented but too often he's too lazy to be effective, hence, he's frustrating. Well look at the photo of in the above article. All the players are going nuts in celebration of Salpi's goal. Everyone except Samaras who seems too lazy to celebrate!
  15. He didn't feature in Milan's 4-0 win over Lecce. Does anyone know why? Was he injured or did he simply not make the squad?
  16. I don't understand this. Why not have an independent as President?
  17. He is class. He does give away an awful lot of fouls though so he needs to work on that. He's also slowed a little over the past 6 months or while looking wider, so maybe he needs to change his fitness regime a little because pace suits his game more than strength imo. He is a really brilliant prospect though
  18. How do you define the term "world class" pao123? Is Govou world class, because Riera is at least on the same level as him. Personally i don't think either is world class, in fact i don't think there are any of world class players in the Greek league. There are a number of world class prospects, but not finished articles that are world class. Riera is a great signing for them though.I agree with everything else you say though, great post. I was just telling my brother that in my opinion Fuster is the same level as Oscar and i think we'll both be proved right. They have also certainly not replaced Galletti or Djole. I honestly believe it's ours for the taking. The only major worries is their relaxed schedule of one game a week, while they have a guaranteed 6 points against Olympiakos Volou while we essentially have 2 extra derbies because of their presence in the SL
  19. played in Schalke's 2-1 away defeat at Hamburg. He played in holding midfield but i didn't see the whole game so can't comment on how he played. for the 10-15 mins i did see he seemed a little anonymous but just as i put it on the commentator said "great start for the Greek".
  20. Not keen on these keens, last year's was much nicer
  21. Niko don't have the typical "opadiko" mentality. I don't think Nemeth is all that, but you prefered him to Suazo so you can't change your tune now :D Pantelic is a good player in my opinion, he'll do well in the Greek league but i don't see him getting 15 goals. In my opinion he'll get between 10-12. The Dutch league is much more open than the Greek and Ajax are much more attacking than Olympiakos. Olympiakos still need major improvements in my opinion but one main advantage you have is that you only have the league to focus on. We'll be playing 2 games a week when you'll be playing 1 and although your squad isn't that good you'd have to be total fools to be messing up games against the likes of Iraklis when you have a whole week to prepare one other point though Crazy, Rommedahl was not at Ajax last year, he was on loan at NAC. So despite what your club press says to make him out to be a BAM he's really just an average player ;)
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVKpUPYu97o...&feature=search Samaras had a very good game against Utrecht. Above are the highlights. Here's an interview about him from his new manager Lennon. Celtic continue striker search despite Samaras form Neil Lennon says he is still looking to sign a striker - but that Georgios Samaras is proving his worth so far this season. The Celtic manager says a goalkeeper and a forward are top of his transfer priority list. "I liked his attitude during the pre-season. His all-round game is coming on," Lennon said of Samaras. "He could be a very important player for us this season. I'm very pleased with him." Samaras scored in Thursday's 2-0 win over Utrecht in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier - the first time he has found the net in competitive action this season. It had looked as if he might be surplus to requirements during the summer, with Lennon's reservations about him well-known. But the Greece forward looks certain to lead the line again when St Mirren visit on Sunday and Lennon said: "There were glimpses of inconsistency in his game again against Utrecht. "He played very well first-half, but there were bits of his game he could have improved in the second-half. "Overall, though, I'm very pleased with him. If anyone deserved a goal over the piece, it was him, so hopefully he'll take a lot from that. "His attitude and his level of performance have been good, no doubt about it. He's been a big player for me so far." Samaras has put behind him his country's disappointing World Cup finals campaign as he enters the final year of his contract at Celtic Park. "With all footballers, you have a point to prove to people, but deep down it's proving the point to yourself," said Lennon. "I think he's got the bit between the teeth at the minute. He's only got a year left on his contract, so he's playing for his future as well. "I look at what he's got in his make-up and I think he's got all the attributes for what it takes to be a modern-day striker." Lennon has already recruited forwards Gary Hooper and Daryl Murphy but has sold Cillian Sheridan and allowed Morten Rasmussen, Paul McGowan and Ben Hutchison to go out on loan. Meanwhile, while Celtic are believed to be interested in signing Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given and Everton defender Joseph Yobo, Lennon did not wish to respond publicly about any specific players. "We are just weighing up options and we will see what becomes available in the next week or so," he added. "We are pursuing three or four names in three or four positions and we are going to be linked with various people." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...tic/8932369.stm
