  5. Greek doctors left me sidelined for Celtic because of blunder, reveals Georgios Samaras Nov 14 2008 GEORGIOS SAMARAS last night revealed how a Greek medical blunder left him sidelined for the past month. The striker needed knee surgery after coming back crocked from international duty in the middle of October. Samaras says he was in pain during his country's defeat of Moldova in the first game of a World Cup double header. He told his national team's doctors about the problem but was assured there was no damage and turned out against Switzerland four days later, making the injury worse. Samaras said: "The doctors said it was nothing. Just that I was tired." "When the doctors say it is nothing you accept it. So I played against the Swiss and did more damage to my knee." Source.

Perfect example: our game vs. Spain at Euro 2008. The only game we looked good in because we knew it was all over.

  9. Dimi praised by Swans boss Posted on: Sun 02 Nov 2008 With just a matter of minutes remaining it looked as if Doncaster could have registered their first victory, and scored their first goal, when they were awarded a disputed penalty. Darren Pratley was adjudged to have fouled James Hayter inside the area and referee Keith Stroud had no hesitation in awarding the division's bottom club the spot-kick. Paul Heffernan had only been on the pitch for four minutes when he placed the ball on the spot and the 9,000 home supporters, who welcomed the ex-Notts County striker onto the pitch with one of the biggest cheers of the day, felt that a long-awaited victory for Sean O'Driscoll's men was on the horizon. Article continues Advertisement But the South Yorkshire side was thwarted by Swansea City's debutant loanee Dimi Konstantopoulos who not only stopped Heffernan's spot-kick, but the rebound aswell.
