My questions to you: 1) Do you believe Greece should exit the EU and revert back to the old currency? 2) Why do you think there are a large amount of Greeks who do not want to ditch the EU?

^^ In order for there to be a union, conditions in member states should be the same, if not at least similar. I lived in Germany for just over three years and I can confirm that the life there is so easy. Work is everywhere to be found, there is a good health system, there is multi-cultural society that lives well with each other. Conditions are similar in England as they are in places like the Netherlands and Belgium. The standard of living is high, bureaucracy is low and the environment is generally safe. Here is Italy, it is the complete opposite of Germany. Sure if you have a job then you can live quite comfortably but the conditions are still not the same. Not many people have a normal contract. They are restricted to roll-on year contract, which guarantees no security. The reason for this is, of course, economic as well as the fact that it is very difficult to fire someone in Italy. Bureaucracy here is a joke, it is on par with Greece. So, what we have is a union with various member states who are completely difference culturally, economically and politically. "So let's try and pass EU laws". OK, sure but what if those laws actually make the situation locally much worse? What if a country is already so advanced, introducing this law would slow it down or just be an obstacle? The EU leaves no room for discussion either. Then we have the issue of immigration. Now then, before you forge an image of Athens4 I can tell you that I am of mixed heritage (Greek and English) and that I left the UK four years ago to try and live in different parts of Europe. I love meeting new people and traveling and and and. You get the picture. I find it unacceptable for there to be a union yet populations of member states to feel the need to have to - or even want to - move to either Germany or England. It is understandable as there are many jobs in these countries. But if we were a union then we would ensure that all member states were on the same, if not similar levels. And this just isn't the case. Roll on Brexit and while we are at it bring on Grexit too. It is the only way Greece will see change.

I was born and raised in England but have been living abroad for four years. I was in the middle at the time of the referendum but after experiencing other countries I can understand why the British wanted out. I think it's for the best.

Exactly. He had to do it before the game with Schalke. If he played awful (which is just what happened) people could say 'Oh well at least he refused to accept a part of salary'. If he played well then people would say 'He is back in form AND gifted some of his salary. He is PAOK to the core'. Thankfully not all of us are sheep. Please find another team in the summer and while you are at it guys in the scouting dept., please find us another striker.

I would honestly prefer to play with no striker than have Athanasiadis up front. I cannot believe there were people who actually thought he would resurrect himself against Schalke tonight.

Glykos is the culprit for me. The first goal was bad enough (indeed the defenders reacted late) but why is he pushing the ball back into the box? The second goal everybody just watched, again Glykos watched the ball go into the net (literally). The third goal, I don't even know what to say. I am still a bit confused as to what happened. He tried punching it out but instead gifted it to Huntelaar? Awful game by most people. The one time we need the team to show up and they are invisible.

He was not a bad coach. I was honestly disappointed when I saw him go. That said I wouldn't change how things are now. I am delighted with Ivic's work and to be quite frank he has managed to do what previous managers were not able to do.

I have been living in Italy for the past 5 months. A couple of weeks ago I went to Naples for four days so I had the chance to go to Pompeii. The weather was nice so it was perfect for having a tour. As much as I was impressed with what I saw, I think the more ancient sites I see the more I realise how indifferent we are today. The only things that have changed is technology and mentalities. We still just want to eat, drink and have sex.

Would it be worth trying to get them to come over? I think the problem is fanaticism. I mean even I used to troll the Aris forum on GS when I was in my teens. As we grow older I guess we become more mature and realise that it is just a sport and the players are just professionals doing their job. But I'll say one thing, I do like a bit of banter with fans of other teams. It is when the banter turns into insults that things get out of hand. I enjoy the non-football part of the forum just as much as the football. It's interesting to hear opinions and ideas from diaspora around the globe. As I said, it would be great if some of the posters who made GS worthwhile could somehow make it onto here. It's nice when everyone gets along.
